The Church of Mandon

Rise and shine Steven it's time to get on the road and get going. Reis yells walking into the room. Steven begins to stir. Dam I was hoping it was just a dream. He says starting to sit up. Come on hurry I got some new cloths for you to wear. These have some protection for you to. So a little goblin spear shouldn't be a problem anymore. She hands him a leather shirt. And here these as well. She hands him a pair if leather leggings. Now hurry up and change so we can head out. Frey is already getting Merybell. She says as she starts to head out the door. Wait who's Merybell? Steven ask. Oh yeah guess you wouldn't know huh. Well she's our mule. She's stubborn so Frey usually deals with her for me. Anyway hurry up we're burning daylight. She says.  Ok. Steven begins to put on the new cloths. These are a pretty good fit. I wonder how she got my sizes right. He begins down the stairs and go out the door. When he leaves the house a big hulking beast stand outside. He jumps back and yells. What the hell is that thing?! It's just Merybell. Reis says coming over form the back wear a wagon is hooked up. That's not a mule. He says cowering behind the door. Sure she is. Frey says. She's a Northern Travelers mule. He continues. Now come on get back here I want to get to Mandon before the sun sets. Frey finishes. Steven walks softly toward the wagon. So how fast is Merybell? Steven asks. She's faster than any horse in the empire I can tell you that. Frey says. That's not a speed. Steven replies. She's fast that's all you need to know kid. Frey says back. Steven hops in the back and Frey tells Merybell to begin to move. She takes off so fast that Steven falls back in the wagon. You might want to sit down it's gonna be a bit bumpy. Reis says. They head off to Mandon.

    Alright guys we have arrive at Mandon. Welcome to the most northern point of the capital. Frey says. I have a question what is the empire? Steven asks. You really aren't from around here are yea. Well its call the empire of man. As it is ruled by the kingdoms of man you see. However there are no longer any kings or queens left. Just the Royal family which right now consist of the Emperor David the 5th. His son David the great shield of the Empire and The Lion Princess Elis. Frey explains. What makes them so special that they get to lead if you don't mind me asking. Steven asks. They are the last descendant of one of the Three great Heroes. Reis responds. And who are they? Steven asks. Well you see long ago there was a war between the Gods and Three Great Demons. And the three heroes rise to defeat the demons. Frey says. Those heros were Mandon the father of the Holy church, Max the First Emperor, and The tradgegic Immortal Hero. Reis adds. Wait why is one of there names missing? And why tradegec? Steven asks. Because his name is lost to time. And because he was cursed after the war to never die. Frey says. I thought immortality is most people's biggest dream? Steven asks. For great warrior death is not seen as something you want to prevent. Most of us want to die in battle. So taking that from one is the worst thing you could steal. Frey responds looking at the road ahead. I actually meet him once. many years ago. Before he disappeared. He seem so disinterested in that fight. I mean I guess when you can't die fighting gets boring. But I do remember he was very young looking. Kinda like you Steven. But he commanded such power. Frey says. Wait you said he disappeared? Maybe he finally died. Steven says. No if anything the gods finally took pity on him and brought him to there realm were he can finally rest. After all his mother was a god so it's not out of the realm of possibilities. Frey says. Off in the distance a man holding latrun is waving at them. They slow down and stop to talk with the man. Hello there travelers may ask what brings you to the town of Mandon. We are currently dealing with a bit of a goblin problem. The man says. We know we're here to fix that problem for you. Frey says. Oh you are. Well that's great then. Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Baron Marksfield and I run all the farmland in this area and I am the one who requested your assistance. The man says. Well were heading to town do you want a ride? Frey asks. Well I was out she if I could stumble across son of those troublesome goblins but I haven't found any so I guess I will join you. Thanks for the ride. He hops in the back next to Steven and Reis. He introduced himself again to Steven and Reis. I am Baron Marksfield nice to meet you. I'm Reis and this is Steven. Were glad we can assist you and help rid this place of those pest. Reis says. Good to hear. They have been terrorizing my poor farmers and some of the towns people. He says. Well we're here to put a end to there terror. Reis says. Well that's good to hear I been in such a panic I didn't know what to do. These goblins are such a menace. He says. Well we will handle it no problem. Reis says with a smile looking over to Steven who is starting to nod off. She kicks his leg. Don't be fallen asleep yet rookie. You don't want to be up all night. Reis says. Why I've always been a night time person. Plus the goblins wouldn't expect a night time raid on there base would they. Steven says. Well most of their attacks are at night so I guess it would be a sound strategy to go out at night. Marksfield says. The cart begins to slow down and Frey yells. Were here everybody. They all get out of the cart. Well I shall be going home then. The adventures guild has all the rest of the information you will need. Goodbye and happy hunting my adventures. Marksfield says and walks away. I'll go to the guild and let them know were here you two go and get us a room. Reis says and turns and goes toward a large building. OK boy let's get merrybell put in a pen and get a room. Frey says. And heads toward and raft looking inn. OK. Steven says and follows Frey. They leave Merrybell outside and head in. They walk up to the desk and Frey begins to converse with the innkeeper. How much for a room for three. Frey asks. Five silver. The innkeeper replies. OK. Frey response. The third room on second floor. He hands the key to Steven. Come with me and get our gear and then head up to the room. I'll get Merrybell a place to stay. Frey says. Steven and Free head back out were Steven grabs there gear and head back in to the inn and up to the room. He sets there stuff on the floor. He looks around the room. It's a small room with three beds. Will I guess I'll take this one he sits down on the one across from the door. What am I doing. Playing adventure. This isn't a game my life is at risk here and for what? Villagers I've never met. He lays back in the bed and brings the sword he's wearing out above his eyes and looks up to it. Why does holding you feel so familiar. I've never felt like this before. He sits up and puts the sword on his lap. The door opens and Reis comes walking in. Well good to see your not crashing and falling asleep on me. Reis says. She sits down on the bed next to him. Well I found out that that goblins mostly operate at night and that they haven't attack in the last couple of days. The guys at the guild believe that a attack on a large scale won't happen. And that we should have a easy time finding there camp. They believe there in a cave somewhere in the mountain. We will head for them tomorrow. So are you hungry? She asks him. Not really. He replies. We'll i am and were going to eat. She jumps up and grabs his arm and pulls him with her. I can walk just fine. He yells. They go down stairs and go into a little run down dining hall in the inn. They sit down. A young girl comes over and asks what they'll have to eat. I'll have turkey leg and some break. Reis says. The lady turn to Steven. And you? Well um. What kind of food do you have here? He replies. Oh right sorry. my friend here is not from around here and doesn't know much about our foods and other customs. So forgive him. Reis says. It's fine traveler's from all over come here to visit the Church so i'm accustomed to it. She replies. I'll have some bread and water then. Steven says. OK I'll get that for you right away. The lady says and goes to the kitchen. Sorry it completely slipped my mind. But you don't know what kind of foods we have to you? She asks. No not really. He replies. I notice your farm animals are close to the ones I my world. Except what ever Marybell is. He says. So are you really not hungry? She asks. No in fact. He gets cut off by Frey joining in. So this is where you disappeared to. Frey says pulling a chair up next to Steven. So what did the guild have to add to our information pool Reis. Basically nothing we didn't already know. Except apparently the church isn't too fond of us being here. Reis replies. Why's that? Steven asks. They want to have all the glory for saving the people of the town. Frey says. What? I thought they were good guys? Steven says. Well once upon a time they were. Frey says. Now they just want people to see them as the savior in these times. Reis says. What do you mean? Steven asks. Oh yeah, you haven't been here long. Well you see as of late monster attacks have been on the rise. And only three bodys are here to fend them off. The Military , The Church and Us. The adventure Guild members. Sadly people don't really like putting their lives on the line so not many people join us. And the military is only used in large scale battles. So the church usually ends up saving the day. Reis says. Wait you're telling me people aren't lining up to fight monster. Isn't that like every fantasy dream of people? Steven says. They prefer living more kid. Frey replies. The young lady returns with there food. Here you guys go. And I see there's another one. What can I get you sir. She asks. I'll have a pint of your best beer and some roasted goat. Frey replies. OK i'll get that for you then. She replies back an leaves for the kitchen. Just some bread and water lad. Aren't you a growing boy we're your meat? Frey ask. I'm not hungry. Steven replies. Suit yourself I guess but don't complain to me when your hungry later. Frey says. Steven finishes his bread and stands up. I'm going to bed now. Steven leaves and goes up to the room and lays down on the bed. He begins to close his eyes and falls asleep.

  Steven awakes to a unfamiliar seen. Fire burning all around beast flying in the sky. Bones scattered all around he looks over to see a hulking beast coming for him. He looks to his hand were he sees he's holding a glowing sword. And now mortal you're death is at hand. The beast swings at him. But he dodges he swings his sword and cuts into the beast. The beast shots a blast at him but blocks it with his sword. He raises his sword and slices the beast. And wounds him deeply. You may win this battle. But you will regret it. He says something Steven can't understand as He stabs the sword into the beast. As he does the beast hits him with a blast. Steven then wakes up I the bed he was sleeping in. He looks up and says. Was that all dream? He looks over to see Reis laying in the bed next to him. Why are you in my bed? He asks. She begins to stir. Oh I must of got cold last night and wandered over for warmth. She says back getting up and stretching. I think Frey warmer then me. He replies. She ignores him and walks over to her bed and starts to change. Steven turns around looks at wall and asks. Do you have to change infront of me like that? How else would I do it. plus I don't mind if you see me naked. She replies. Frey begins to stur. Oh is it morning already? He asks looking like he might be hungover. Yes it Frey. Now get up and suit up were going out as soon as we eat breakfast. She says putting her clothes on and equipping 3 different bows to herself. One a strange looking crossbow. Other two are regular looking bows. She then leaves the room. Steven gets up and puts his sword on his belt. Guess I should join her. He leaves Frey who's still getting ready. Steven heads down to the dinning hall were Reis is sitting looking at a map. He heads over to her and sits next to her. So what's the plan? He asks. As of right now. I want to check out some of the caves in the mountain. I'm betting somewhere there's a encampment of them. I'm thinking it's here. She points to a spot on the map where there's a river running past a cave marked. Frey comes up and sits next to Steven and looks at the map. Well if I was a band of dirty goblins id definitely pick there's as my hidey hole. He remarks. Why? Steven asks. Because easy access to water for them while at the same time close to there cave. Id bet there deep in there.Bp worries tho its not the first time me and Reis have gone in there holes. Frey says. Yea and it probably won't be are last. Reis says. Alright let's eat and then he's out! Frey says. They all order food and eat. Then they head out to hunt the goblins.
