Year 21 (276AC)
Aemon has inherited some of my abilities. He got mental computation and Biokinesis which are the most important to me.
I spent a long time teaching him how to use them safely. How to use it quietly even amongst people. Lets just say he's gotten the hang of it. Even learned partition quickly so he could learn other languages. My boy is a genius.
After we deposited our loot at the Iron Bank in Braavos I left with 1000 gold dragons because that's all I would need for now. Let the rest of the cash rest until we have need of it.
I bought news about the ongoings of Kings Landing. It seems times are tough right now. The King and The Hand are having a tense relationship, poverty fills the streets of the capital and the recent birth of Viserys Targereyan.
Luckily Tywin Lannister is holding a tourney in Lannisport. I head there to win the melee but I'll keep out of jousting. It seems like a noble thing. They won't like some foreign knight winning their tourneys.
If I win the melee it would be a nice advertisement to Westeros. A capable foreign knight untettered to any lord. Ripe for the pickings.
Left to me I will prefer Dorne. They're more free and like people of earth unlike the rest of Westeros. I can comfortably put down roots there.
Yes… that's what I'll do. I have the money… I'll buy a decent manse in Dorne then pledge myself to the nearest house. Preferably near the sea or a river.
A man can daydream afterall.
Months later we arrived in Planky Town in Dorne. Three years since leaving the North I end up in the other end of Westeros.
The reason I chose here is for one its really far from the North and the chances of someone recognizing me is slim to none but never zero. With my armor of Cold Steel I'll be easy to spot for most Northerners.
If asked I'll just say I bought it in Qohor. Let Lord Stark go and fight the free cities.
As Aemon and I were walking around looking for a descent inn to stay in I was taking in the sights. From what I know Planky town is not far from Sunspear. That's a good thing. Maybe I'll go see the Martells nahh wishful thinking. I'll buy a manse in Planky Town and settle here. When I hear about tourneys I will join in the fun.
After asking around it turns out I have to go to Sunspear to enquire about available manses. The Martells like to know who is living on their lands for extended periods of time.
Days later I meet my future overlords for the first time.
Oberynn Martell POV
'I am surprised to see all of you here this early in the morning. Especially you Elia.' I said while sitting my pretty ass into a chair in Doran's solar.
'I'm tired too but Doran sent for us so I dragged myself here.' said Elia while he hair was still out of order she cleaned up as best as we can.
Doran sighed softly at our antics before pushing a piece of parchment towards us to read. After Elia finished she raised an eyebrow while passing the parchment to me.
I looked through it quickly and was a bit confused as why Doran cared about some Essosi Knight Sellsword that wants a manse either in Planky Town or the Shadow City.
Was I missing something?
'I understand your confusion. Normally I would allow his settlement easily but this one is different. My spies have reports about him. Apparently he's famous in Essos. His name is Lucas Radahn he is of first man descent and Naathi origins. He's arguably the most famous and strongest fighter in Essos. They call him 'The Grey Devil'. He was an independent sellsword until he was approached by the Golden Company. He was recently knighted by one of them even.'
'Okay but why does it matter?' I asked because sure he's a good knight. Nothing special.
'He's also a rich one. He has investments and shares with alot of Essosi business men. Especially the up and coming ones. Most notably he has 10 percent profit from a rising Cheesemonger in Pentos called Illyrio. Which means he's not like other sellswords. Not to mention the best blade in the Golden Company.'
'We must handle this carefully. I doubt he is a spy. Perhaps coming to Westeros to make a name for himself. I want you,Oberynn to watch him for a while and when possible get him into our employ.'
Lucas Pov
I got to meet the Martells briefly. Made small talk with Oberynn and Doran before I was given a choice of where I want to buy the manse.
I decided in the Shadow City since it is near the Martells thus has better protection. I briefly saw the Princess Elia and she has to be the most beautiful woman I've seen.
But approaching her like this is futile. Its better to wait for a chance. While talking to Oberynn I heard of a tourney in Lannisport that the royal family is going for.
This is it. My lucky break. What better debut would I have than winning the melee before the king.
Ahhh I have to also bet on myself. Never miss a chance to chase the bag.
