Year 20 (275 AC)
For the past two years I joined the Golden Company. It was through them I discovered something I missed out on even tho it was active all these years. Its more of a passive skill.
I also discovered another facet of my power. Hypercompetence. I possesses powerful/incredible skill in various fields or disciplines, whether intellectual or practical, formal or mundane: mathematics, cooking, strategy, sports, games, politics, fighting, martial arts, mechanics, psychology, economy, art, medicine, investigation, etc.
I also demonstrate a mind-boggling level of perceptiveness and efficiency in their respective fields, multiplying virtually impossible feats with ridiculous ease. Their unbelievable level of competence truly puts them in an unreachable category of their own, that simply eludes others' understanding.
Basically I am the prodigy all prodigies want to be like.
When I joined the company I was a talented swordsman with very good skill with a bow. After all the contracts we've had from Myr to Pentos to Norvos to Mantarys I grew as a person and as a combatant.
Now I can finally say that iconic line.
If its a one on one, always bet on Radahn.
I don't say it out loud tho. Ok maybe I said it once when we were drinking in Pentos and it caught on.
Experience against other talented swordsmen did the job. I kept challenging all of them for duels for a long time. Constantly refining my skills and gaining new ones.
Like I trained with the spear now to the same level of my sword. So if I need to I'll be just as good. I also trained with different types of swords and incorporated their skills into my main sword style which tries yo incorporate the concept of minimalism. Small movements, deft footwork to always stay a bit out of reach for the opponent. Quick attacks and counter attacks with deadly accuracy.
Efficient enough to take most men out with a few hits. Its very energy efficient and allows me to last very long on the battlefield while killing a lot of people. I still use the other styles when needed tho.
During my stay here I started buying books or visiting libraries when I could. I learnt alot about poisons even found out how to make tears of Lys. I even created my own variant of it that no one will be able to cure yet because it may act like normal tears but some added ingredients in it means the normal antidote is nullified. It can slow down the spread but it won't eliminate it.
Last year I got knighed by Ser Jason Rivers after saving his life in a battle against the Second Sons in Myr. He was besieged by three stormcrows after they cut down two of his men.
I stepped in and joined him in eliminating all of them and then continuing the slaughter. We sliced through tens of sellswords before they called a retreat. At the end of the battle he asked if I was knighted and I said no. I promptly got on my knees and was knighted by him as Ser Radahn.
With this my main objective was completed and I planned to go back to Westeros soon. As that I have become a knight the next thing is to swear my fealty to a house preferably a great house as it would hive him some prestige if he is to ever be a landed knight or a new noble.
I coukd stay in Essos… live a good life… marry someone have kids and settle here but…
Westeros is home. Its where I first landed and lay my roots. If I'm going to move up in the world its there I want to be.
With that I decided to go back and find myself a future there. After this last contract against the Dothraki in Lys I am leaving.
Weeks past as The Golden Company finally arrived in Lys in time to mount a defence against the Dothraki. While the leaders planned everything I decided to go see Laena again. Over the years I've been with other women but I felt something special for her.
I found her in the same brothel looking as lovely as ever but next to her was a child. A small boy with snow white hair, a cute face and… red eyes.
Is that my son?
I have a son…
She didn't reach out to me… no there's almost no way of her reaching out to me while I was a sellsword. I moved too much.
I approached her and her face lit up with joy. She hugged me tight and kissed my cheek before dragging me before the boy.
'Lucas meet Aemon, your son.'
Aemon's eyes went wide in shock as he laid eyes on me. He never had a father and probably thought I was dead. But now I'm here and I am never leaving his side.
We will rise higher and stronger than any commoner has in a millennia. A landed knight? What the fuck is that! I'm leaving a legacy for my child. We will be nobles by hook or by crook.
Ahh I finally have some house words.
'Stand proud.'
I leave my kids something to be proud of. House Radahn starts with me. Ser Lucas Radahn… I'll be great or die trying.
I rented a space to stay while I was in Lys and invited Laena and Aemon to stay with me. For days we lived like a real family I even asked Laena to marry me again but she refused.
She can't leave the brothel. She owes the madam there her life for saving her from death after she had been raped and left for dead by her former slavemaster. She promised her complete loyalty for doing so.
So she wants me to take our son and leave. After failed attempts to convince her I agreed but not before we had sex again one last time.
The Dothraki arrive tomorrow and the battle should not take more than two to three days. After that Aemon and I would first head to Braavos to drop off most of my loot in my account.
I'm sort of rich now from all my looting. I have about 30000 gold dragons from the raids and sacks I have been on. I even stole from a magister in Astapor's vault once. It was a contract but I stole alot extra for myself.
After we defeated the Dothraki after two days of siege and some counterattacks I went to the Commander Myles to tender my resignation. After a drunken send off I set out with my boy Aemon Radahn to find a ship going home.
