Maria's head separated from her body and fell to the floor, shock etched all over her face. Meanwhile, blood spurted out of her neck like a fountain as her body stumbled back a few steps, then finally collapsed to the ground, twitching incessantly.
Even after being decapitated, her head was still gasping for air. That just went to show how resilient vampires really were. When Morpheus saw that, he took out his gun and aimed at her head. He pulled the trigger until all that was left of Maria's head was a mangled mixture of blood, brain, and gray matter.
After confirming that she had finally died, Morpheus dropped to his knees, his face completely pale. Although it had seemed like he'd easily killed his target within a few moves, in reality, the technique he'd used had taken a very heavy toll on him.
