She panicked slightly, he appeared unsatisfied. She knew he wanted to hear more about her day but before that could wait. She still had to thank him.
She licked her lips and raised her head up to stare at him. She gulped and momentarily got lost staring at his metallic blue eyes.
" Thanks a lot for the room you changed for Alex. I really appreciate it" She scratched her neck unsure of what to say next.
Quinn pulled up the corners of his lips into a grin and drew closer to her.
" It's nothing. She is my sister in-law after all. It's normal for me to take care of her " Quinn said slowly his lips caressing her ears.
Alyssa curled her toes unable to understand what she was feeling. She bit her lips to calm her erratic heartbeat. The thought of Quinn taking care of her sister warmed her heart but on the other hand, she was a little bit depressed at the how hostile Wendy was to her. She was her sister in-law but she wasn't sure if they can ever get along.
She raised her head up when she felt a tender touch on her cheek. Quinn's face was dangerously close to her. Their mouth separated by a hair's breath. Her throat suddenly went dry and despite her attempt to swallow the lump in her throat she was unable to do it.
Quinn had held her spell bound. He brushed his lips over her luscious lips sending a shiver down her spine. She abruptly closed her eyes, playing with her fingers out of nervousness.
He smiled against her lips at her reaction. When he first saw her enter the study, the soft glow of the room enhanced her beauty and he couldn't wait to pull her into his embrace but still managed to control himself. He didn't want to hurt her or make her upset with him. Seeing her reaction, it seemed like it was a mutual consent.
He deepened the kiss and delved deeper into the corners of her mouth exploring it with his tongue. His hands moved under her shirt drawing circles on her bare waist causing her to shudder. His other hand moved forward cupping her chin and supporting her to meet his height.
Alyssa was already lost in the kiss and finding it hard to breath. It wasn't her first kiss but with Quinn kissing her, she felt like it was her first time kissing. Her knees buckled and she stifled a moan causing Quinn's body to stiffen.
He opened his eyes and detached his body from hers after ensuring she was able to stand properly on her own. He stared at her beautiful face with curly locks on sweaty red face then down to her plump full lips that was already red from kissing. Her eyes were slightly open with her lips parted for breathing. Her heart moving rhythmically made him move a step closer to her.
He couldn't understand what was going on with him. He had never felt so drawn to a lady by just looking at her appearance.
Alyssa finally regained her bearing and opened her eyes only to meet with Quinn's eyes staring back at her. Colour rushed to her face down to her neck recalling what had just transpired between them. She hurriedly turned her face away and tidied her shirt. Her heart was beating loudly that she feared he would hear it from where he was standing.
The both of them just stood there without saying anything. The silence was awkward and it made them uncomfortable.
" Look Alyssa I..."
" Mr. Winters you don't have to say anything" She quickly cut him short. "I'm the one at fault here and I sincerely apologize for that. I took advantage of you knowing fully well that you're in a relationship with Miss Tina. I'm sorry" She said and made to leave the study but Quinn held her wrist stopping her.
He impulsively hugged her from behind surprising himself and also Alyssa. His actions tonight were confusing her.
" Alyssa...actually it's not your fault. I..." The words got stuck in his throat. He didn't even know what to say. He wasn't going to apologize, he had done nothing wrong in kissing her. He wasn't sorry for kissing her, he wouldn't even mind kissing her for life.
He rested his head on the nook of her neck and took in her milky natural scent that miraculously relaxed his nerves.
A ringtone interrupted them and Alyssa turned to look at the phone. Her heart twisted in pain seeing the caller.
How could she have forgotten the loving relationship between him and Tina.
How could she have forgotten the loving eyes he used to stare at Tina on her birthday ceremony
How could she have forgotten how nice Tina is to her regardless of the fact that she is married to her boyfriend.
Alyssa shook her head to prevent the tears about to slide down her cheek. She quickly escaped Quinn's embrace and left the study.
Quinn stared at the door with a complicated gaze. He admitted in his heart that he was in the wrong. He should have considered her feelings before he kissed her. He already warned her not to fall in live with him but here he was, leading her on.
The phone that had already quietened started ringing again. Quinn had never felt so frustrated in his life. He pulled his hair and let out a deep breath. He picked the call after sighing. He made sure to contain his ragging emotions and keep it in check. No matter whatever makes his upset, he wasn't the type to transfer aggression to an innocent person.
"Quinn...why didn't you pick my call on time?" Tina asked playfully.
Quinn wasn't in the mood for jokes so he managed to find something to say to her.
" I was busy. What's up?"
Tina pouted on the other end. She could sense Quinn wasn't really in a good mood. She couldn't help but think it's probably because of Alyssa.
" You talk like I need to have a reason before calling you. But since you think I should have a reason...I think I've found one"
Quinn laughed at her words and shook his head.
"Of course you don't need to have a reason to call me. Tell me the reason you just thought of"
" After my birthday party we didn't even get to spend time together. Let's go out for dinner tonight. While coming back from work, I happened to see new restaurant. It's very nice and also serves your favorite food. You mustn't miss it okay. Meet you in an hour's time " Tuna said happily and hung up.
Quinn placed his phone back on the table and punched the space between his brow. Tina had always been like that not giving anyone a chance to refuse her. If he should miss the date, she would sulk a lot and he would have hard time trying to pacify her.
His plan to discuss something important with Alyssa over dinner was foiled thanks to his girlfriend. He shook his head, picked his phone and walked out to his bedroom.
He stopped at Alyssa's room and stared at the door for a while. He wanted to enter inside but decided against it. It won't be a good thing for her to be weary around him. He thought that it was better they don't interact much because he wasn't sure about what he was feeling. He later consoled himself that he was drawn to her because she was still young and a bit naïve about a lot of things. With that in mind, he passed the door of her room and entered his room with a light mind.
Alyssa sniffed silently under the duvet. Realisation had just dawned upon her that she had been trapped in her marriage with Quinn Winters. A loveless marriage that she would never be free from in her youthful days. After spending just a day with him, she was already attracted to him how then would she be able to cope after living with him for more than two years. How she wished he could go back to where he had been living for the past three months.
She bit her lip silently. Even a little part of her heart was screaming at him not to go back. He could have been staying with Tina for the past three months which didn't sit well with her.
Alyssa sat up and threw the duvet off her body. She looked around jet pink room and couldn't help but feel depressed. She hated anything pink but it seemed like the head maid wanted to make life miserable for her. She went into the bathroom and washed her face with cold water to calm herself down. When she was done, she stared at her reflection in the mirror and sighed.
She wasn't as beautiful as Tina but she wasn't that bad either. It's just that she still looked like a child that needs protection and didn't have the air of maturity surrounding her rather she looked lost and harmless. She quickly jumped out of the room to prevent herself from thinking anything absurd.
She sat herself on the edge of the bed. If only she had something doing that she can use to while away time. She had lost her phone and wasn't able to buy it. The Head Maid prevented her from doing so explaining to her that she would be distracted from her training if she has a phone.
Even the college she wanted to enroll to has already resumed and stopped accepting students. She would have to wait till the next year before she can find something doing.
She badly wanted to get out of the house and get Quinn out of her head, mind and her heart.
