Chapter 15

The twins soon picked up several weapons and tested them under the guidance of both Damian and Jack. Louis eventually decided to use a spear after having a brief spar with Damian, in his hands the spear seemed to flow like water seamlessly transitioning from a blocking position to a simple thrust. The deciding factor of his decision, however, was the range of motion, fighting the spear with a sword was near impossible as the spear could counter many movements with a single stab.

Arthur decided on a warhammer, when Damian asked why he would choose a two-handed weapon after having been recommended duel wielding Arthur scratched his head and replied, "Smashing things just feels better." To that Damian just shook his head with a rueful smile.

The twins quickly adjusted to their new routine of going to school, coming back and heading straight towards the training grounds to receive martial arts training.

Despite having gone to a school for nobility, there weren't many things that the two actually learned regarding fighting as they were always at the top of the power rankings. They learnt more about the situation of humanity as a whole though. Humanity could be largely separated into three groups, the Western Kingdom, the Eastern Kingdom, and the Empire that ruled over both kingdoms.

The twins lived in the Western Kingdom, which focused their powers on guarding the western front which held various magical beasts and cunning elves. The Eastern Kingdom guarded the eastern front which held the biggest collection of demi-humans and beastmen on the continent. The Empire was located near the center of the two kingdoms and guarded the territory that humanity had claimed from the demonkin.

Despite the fact that there was only a single demon king remaining after the original 72, the demonkin were still strong, if not stronger than before. After Baal's whimsical betrayal and massacre of the other 71 demon kings, he managed to kill all twelve of the guardian zodiacs to even the playing field.

Under his rule, all 72 layers of hell combined into one, and all the legions came under his banner. Quite often, Baal would send legions of the demonkin to disrupt the development of the races in the middle world. The upper world remained silent as all this had happened, which made those who had once believed soon believe that god had died.

Occasionally angels would descend from the upper world, however, humanity soon understood that angels weren't exactly on their side. After having killed the demonkin the angels would turn on their once allies that had aimed at the demonkin together. Soon kings and emperors of every race ordered for any being from either the lower or upper world to be killed on sight.
