A couple of two odd 'friends' walked through the 4th section of the library to the nearest table to the shelf, which was built for two people to sit and enjoy reading.
One girl, beautiful, cute, slim, and blonde. She was a very modern woman, unlike the man. She wore a black sweater and long jeans.
The man, well, he was an exception to the whole library. All the eyes that came up and down from the books peered at him every now and then.
'Man… I need to buy some new fuckin' clothes… everyone's staring at me like I'm from the last fuckin' century.'
Couldn't blame them, because he truly was.
A very handsome man, white hair, fair skin, blue eyes, and a body that represented the very epitome of Masculinity.
The two sat opposite to each other at the table, placing their books down.
"Hmm… so, where are you from?"
"That is quite a good question, I myself am still trying to figure out."
"Oh, your story must be interesting then…" the girl replied, chuckling with the cutest smile Jamie had ever seen. He gazed at the girl, and she was perfectly what he expected after seeing that picture of her in the Witch's house.
The two took a seat at the table, and Jamie sat on the opposite side of the girl.
"Hmmm… so, what should we read first? Your story or the book?"
The girl sat cross-fingered on the table and placed her chin on her crossed hands. Jamie kept his smile and looked down at the [Rebirth of the Demon King] and wondered about two things.
1. Why does she want to know about the Demon King's Rebirth?
2. Why was this cute girl's level higher than that vampire he met the other night?
"Me first, then the book," Jamie smiled.
"Okay, 'me' go first then, haha!"
Jamie chuckled and began his lies once again… the girl stared at him, her eyes widened as he continued. Just looking at her expressions as he continued, hurt him a little. Those expressions were just truly honest.
'Why the Hell do I have to lie to these beautiful eyes… fuck me.' Jamie grimaced as they continued.
Finally, he ended his line of lies about how he had lost his memories and how he has dreamt about being a Demon Hunter.
"Oh, God… I'm really glad that you decided to find who you are again. Most people who lose their memories don't even know what they're doing… I'm glad your memories are returning slowly, Jamie."
"Thanks."
"Umm… What might be your name?"
"My name is Claire Lorkey. Better popular as one of the Lorkey sisters from the potion shop just up the woods!"
Jamie smiled and said, "Oh! That's nice!" as she continued to talk, but… he smiled too soon.
"...and I am also a part-time Demon Hunter too! What a coincidence, right?"
Jamie's smile twitched and his face went blank, and the eyes represented 'joy' no more.
"I was wondering why you were searching about the Demons!"
"Yes, yes. I was searching through the books so I could find more information about the demon-hunting, and I thought that might bring my memory back." Jamie gazed at the book he picked up.
Claire smiled. "Of course. That's a perfect idea. And you must be searching for the Rebirth of the Demon King because you heard the news this morning, right? About the demons starting to march towards the North and all that fuss about the Demon King's Rebirth?"
"Exactly!" Jamie said, chuckling. "Wow…."
'Fuck… that shit news I heard in the morning was true? I thought that was a fucking dream!'
Claire stared at him in awe. "Hmm?"
"Nothing, just surprised by your knowledge. I can hardly remember about the Demon Kings and stuff… So let's start reading, right?"
"Hmmm… yes, yes. Who's gonna read it?"
"I'll read it… I mean, where shall we start first?"
"I honestly think that the Demon King book is worthless for you… try this," she said, passing the man the book in her hand. "This has more information a regular demon hunter would read. Maybe the information in this book will do you more good with… your memory."
"Huh? This book huh?" Jamie said, smiling a little bitterly. But, how the hell could he argue with that?
The Demon King smiled. "True. Let's read this!"
He looked down at the book. The title was…
[Ways to kill the horrifying Demons – written by TJ Sandy (A professional demon hunter)]
"The dream girl is the enemy." That's the conclusion Jamie arrived at after reading the book.
Curses by Pear Fruit juices and garlic mashed?
Dark aura cleansed by Silver Stones of Ruxia?
How to tame white wolves that would kill every Demon in sight and how to give white wolves the sight of Demon Aura…
She was going to torture him to death if she found out. But, what the hell… why is he stuck in this goddamn situation. This girl was cute and gorgeous and her personality was just… adorable. He knew that no demon king should show no mercy, but her?
The two read their books for more than 30 minutes before coming to a stop.
"Jamie… ahh… my sister's texting me to come back home! She needs me with a little potion brewing stuff!"
"Oh! Ok… I'll see you around then, I guess..."
"Did the book help you bring your memories, Jamie? Or do you feel anything familiar?"
"Nope… nothing came back, as of yet."
"Oh… God, dunno how hard it must be to live without the memories of your past! But… I think we can help each other out, in our jobs at least. Centuries have passed since the last Demon King, so, people no longer believe in these Demon Uprisings, but they do live among us to this day. So better be on alert, right? And more demons means more money for us, right Jamie?? So let's help each other out."
"Here's my number." Claire handed him a card, just like her sister did.
Jamie stared at the card and thought, 'Guess it runs in the family.'
"Thank you so much… people, in this town had been nothing but kind to me this whole time. Thank you very much."
'They'll fucking torch me very soon.'
"You're welcome… and don't thank me for being human."
She smiled, hung her bag over her shoulder once again, and got her things ready. "I'll see you, Jamie. And do read that Rebirth book. It contains a lot more about the demons than I thought…"
Jamie smiled and waved to her. So, the girl he liked at first was actually someone who hunted his kind. He stayed in the library for more than 1 hour reading the book, sitting there alone.
Finally, he knew a lot more about Kaden, and it wasn't truly good things.
As the Dark King is reborn in Kaden, the shadows start marching towards the Demon King, the Prodigies are born in many places, and with the Dark King, the Angel is also born. So, he wasn't really playing the part of the good guy in this game… he was the Bad Guy. And the role he was given had lived up to its name, according to the book. The legacy was also true, and his path was… grim dark.
But the truly hateful fact is how he had to sacrifice a human on each full moon. The memory of that message that appeared the other night came back to him. He closed the book and sighed.
Laying back in the chair, he pondered about all the problems he had right now… but above all, the face that came to his mind was Claire's… and the role he had accidentally given himself. The Demon hunter. But right now, with Claire in the game… the hunter had already met its prey.
Now, he needed to escape… or just keep lying and still escape.
