C11: Library

Holly said that the 'Library' was probably the best place to find books about demons. She said many adventurers go there to read about books and different species even. So, that's exactly what Jamie did.

He stood in front of a large library that didn't look like a regular place from the outside. The first weird thing about it was veins and roots were growing along the wooden walls and even the stairs were cracked. It seemed like it was abandoned. But after seeing that many people going in and out of the library, he thought otherwise.

"The public library of… Downwood – To enter, you must first become a member."

Jamie read the text written in enormous letters outside the place.

He didn't waste any time looking around and quickly entered the library. He could see a few witches, warlocks, and all sorts of people from other classes there. It was more crowded than he expected it to be.

However, what truly amazed him was the number of books in the library and the number of floors.

'Jesus, they publish this many books in fantasy worlds too?'

The stairs were so tall, that he couldn't even see the end of them.

However, the first thing he had to do was get a library card.

Jamie stood in a small line of people standing at one of the many counters the library had till it was finally his turn to get a card.

There was a tall girl at the counter, wearing a wizard-like top hat, signing the library membership cards. She was quite a young girl, possibly a — she lifted her pointy top hat and revealed her face.

"Good Morning sir, how may I help you – *Ribbit!*"

Her body was of a regular woman, but her face was of a frog. Not just a frog. A frog wearing glasses.

"Ahem… can I get a membership, a new one?"

"Sure, sit down."

Jamie pulled the chair back and sat down. The frog lady placed the paper down on the table and said, "Just sign here sir."

Jamie signed the doc and looked at the document. Well, it wasn't quite a document. It was a simple card.

<Jamie Fang, do you want to accept the membership in this library?>

Jamie's face went blank. "Umm.. yes?"

<Congratulations! You are now the 10,154th member of Downwood Public Library!>

"Hmm… Thank you, sir, you can enter the archive now. Good day, sir!"

Jamie blinked.

'Ok… that's all it took, huh.' She handed him the card which magically had a photo of him imprinted on it and his sign which was red in color. It was magical, sure enough.

Jamie took one of the guides to find books from the counter and found out that every book about Demons was on the 7th floor of the library. And what a surprise… he got there in less than 15 seconds.

Apparently, the stairs were powered by mana, and every wooden step carried a person to the floors easily, just like the electric stairs they had in supermarts, back on Earth.

"What a developed library…" Jamie smiled, inspired by how this world's people decided to put this kind of development into a 'Public Library.'

Jamie saw the Demon King and conflicts and decided that it was the place instantly. "Demon King, eh?"

The sections were so long that it looked like it would take forever to find the books. But, skimming through those shelves looked more fun than boring.

There were books written in different languages surely, but as the Demon King looked at the symbols, they became readable to him, automatically.

"Guess this is the cause of that language skill." Jamie kept walking in section 4 until he came across one book that caught his interest. "Rebirth of the Demon King- Written by Angelina Crows. Truth about the causes of the Demon King's birth."

Jamie reached for the 5th shelf, looking at another book nearby as he did so. It was a book with the title, "The Demon Queens of Kaden," with a cover that could attract any man, honestly. (A succubus with no bra)

Thump!

He suddenly bumped into someone and the book in the person's hand fell too. "Oh sorry," Jamie muttered and reached for the book on the ground.

Thump!

"Ow!" Jamie cried out. The book he was reaching for at the top fell on his head!

"Oh my God! I'm so sorry…" A woman's voice resounded in front of him, and he looked up. The girl reached for the book, but instead of the book, came in contact with his hand!

"I –" Jamie grabbed both books and stood up, helping the woman back to her feet too. He only saw her face after helping her stand.

She was a gorgeous beauty with gold-colored blonde hair. Her skin was pale, and her body was slim, but at the same time, totally sexy. Her aura felt strong and somehow made her feel powerful.

"No, no. I had my mind set on another thing, my bad." Jamie said, smiling at the girl.

The girl stared into his blue eyes and blinked. "Umm… no — no worries."

Her eyes went lower, but what caught her attention was the book he was holding, not his abs. "Woah… that's the exact same book I am looking for! Do you know how to read Oniora?" the woman asked.

Jamie was speechless. 'What the fuck is… Oniora?'

He looked back at the book and saw the symbols. "Oh, Oniora… yes. Yes, I do." Jamie figured that it was the language she was talking about.

The girl smiled kindly at him and said, "Are you new around here? I haven't seen you around in Downwood."

"Yes, I have a kind of a long story."

"Oh, do you? Well, can we share our stories at a table then? I want that book you're holding right now, more than anything!"

Jamie looked down at the book and back at the girl. "Hmm… you wanna read about the Demon King –"

Suddenly, a memory came back to him. "Oh, well then. Let us share our stories. It'll be more fun with you than just… doing it alone, no?"

The memory was from yesterday's encounter he had.

That girl standing right in front of him was someone he had seen before. She wasn't just a normal girl. She was a girl he wished for… she was that sister of the 'Witch' he met just the other day!
