Chapter Thirty-Four

Soren can instantly see a shift in Amelia's mood when he tells her that she'd be worthless if she didn't rest. Her eyes turned from soft violets to a turbulent storm.

She snatched her hand away from his and got to her feet. "Excuse me? I am doing the job that YOU forced upon me! I am a healer, and that's what I'm doing. If you don't like the way I do things, then by all means, do it yourself!" After her outburst, she threw the roll of unused gauze at Soren and jumped out of the wagon.

Soren sat there, stunned. He never imagined that she'd raise her voice. He didn't even think she was capable of talking that much. All he could do now was watch her as she stomped away. Once she was out of sight, he groaned and hit his head on the high wall of the wagon. How could he be so stupid? He should have just kept his mouth shut!
