The Apex Alpha

Seth was a legendary assassin with metahuman abilities. He was so feared that a country was willing to risk sending all of their metahumans as well as the many metahuman mercenaries they hired in order to bring him down after he killed several political leaders and their families. After killing several thousand metahumans, Seth was finally brought down. But he was fine with it. He knew that with all the damage that he had caused, he would eventually be killed. And he was prepared for his death and he regretted nothing. What he was not prepared for though, was what came after. -------- Hmmm. Death has relieved me of all this pain that all those bastards had caused me. The only thing I am disappointed about is not being able to spend all that money I made. What is that light? I know that I would not head to heaven and there is too little cackling for hell. Where am I? I've been reincarnated? Interesting! I read novels about that when I was younger but never expected it to be true. Wait. What? What happened to my reincarnation and golden finger? Note: Art is not mine. Credit to the original owner/s (I like to change my cover art around at first) and will take it down if they got an issue with it or I just wanna change it.

Chapter 13: Spirit

Seth was surprised that there was no darkness like the previous time he had died. Instead, he saw a shocking scene. The red-haired Alpha was holding the dead bodies of both of the mid-tier Alphas in each of her hands. Her beautiful face was covered in rage.

Lilac and Titanium were off on the side floating on a makeshift air raft of random pieces of metal from the plane. They also had glowing flower petals and metal shards floating around them in a protective formation. The pair looked frustrated.

'Why are they all angry? They killed the... oh! So that's why!'

Seth could see the woman's daughter being supported by a small tornado. But she was not the same as when Seth saw her when they first boarded the jet. The girl's body had several small injuries all over it but there was also a wound on her head that kept leaking blood.

But what was strange was that the girl had a small hologram floating over her chest. It looked like a 9 sided star or an enneagram.

'Why is that there? Is that her ability. Whatever it is, it seems like a siren's call and is begging me to go to it.'

He tried to use his dagger to resist but he realized he could not summon it or use any of his abilities.

'Must be because I am in this free soul form. Guess I need to find a new host and that girl must be it. Although I am not sure why she has the star over her, it feels like she is the best choice here.'

Seth could not help but go over to the girl. As his spirit body floated over her, nothing happened. He tried a few different hand signs that he had seen someone else use when they tried to take over a body in an anime he saw but they did not work.

Once he touched the star though, he felt himself being sucked inside of the girl. He could not help but close his eyes. When he opened them, he was once again in a familiar space. There was a bookshelf on one side, the mat and crystal ball on a pedestal in the center but one thing that stood out was one of the walls.

In Alex's soul/mind, all the walls except one were empty. In this one, however, one of the walls was decorated in art. While the other 2 walls were plain, this wall was filled with various images.

Some parts were covered in flame, lightning, wind, water, and other ancient elemental art, others had familiar mythical or cryptid creatures and some were creatures that Seth himself had never seen before. There were also symbols and runes that exuded power all over the walls in empty spaces. But the center was what drew his attention the most.

Art that seemed like Apollo himself had come inside of this space and drew on the wall whatever thoughts or images came to his head before Hecate followed and drew the symbols and runes. In the center was a circle that had an enneagram in the center of it.

Even though the star looked very plain at first, for some reason, it compelled Seth to come and touch it. Caress it even.

'Already died twice. May as well risk a third time.'

With that thought, he raised his right hand and noticed that the 9 was still on it. Thinking it weird that he still had a tattoo that he never remembered getting. He placed his hand on the enneagram.

The enneagram slowly began to glow before the entire wall also began to glow as well. All the images seemed to come alive and become real for several moments, as if the beasts would consume Seth's soul if they tried to or the wind would cut him down if the blades passed through him.

The wall soon calmed down though. No longer feeling the urge to press his hand onto the wall, Seth pulled it away. But as he did so, he felt and saw a glass sphere with an enneagram in the center come away from the wall with him.

He looked down at the sphere before looking at the wall again. It seemed the same but different. Like it lost its luster. Or as if it was a beautiful woman who was full of life had suddenly experienced a heartbreak and was no longer smiling.

'It still looks good but it feels as if it is missing something. I was hoping that this host would allow me a decent view at least.'

Seth took his eyes off the wall and focused on the sphere in his hand. But as if came into view, it shattered and turned into motes of light. The motes of light then turned into a screen that said...

'Well, that is interesting', he thought to himself.
