Her Command

Skylar's POV

"Penny for your thoughts," Elliot said.

"You're a werewolf," I breathed out.

"How did you complete the mating process and not know about werewolves, or is it that you didn't see the big mark that appeared at the crook of your neck?" Harris asked sarcastically.

"Who is your mate?" Parker asked.

"Cain, Cain Rivers," I replied.

Their eyes bulged from their sockets upon recognition of Cain's name.

"Alpha Cain Rivers. He is one of the most powerful alphas in the world," Harris said in awe.

"Oh," was my simple reply.

I chuckled.

"You sound like a fan."

"He must be an amazing mate; I heard he's very kind and caring," Elliot said.

"Kind to everyone but me," I scoffed.

"If excessive aggression towards me, gaslighting me, constantly criticizing everything I do, and isolating me from everyone else makes him a great mate, then he's the best!" I said in a sarcastic tone.

Growls filled the room. I looked at the boys with a raised eyebrow.

"Sorry," they all said.

"It's okay, but control yourselves. I am tired, and I'm going to sleep," I said with a yawn.

I laid down and rested my head on Parker's lap. I was about to fall asleep when growls erupted from all directions.

I looked up at Parker.

"That wasn't us," he said, raising his hands in surrender.

"The rogues." Harris said. "They are at the front gate."

"We have to protect Sky," Parker said.

At that statement, Harris, Elliot, Liam, and Parker boxed me in. The gate to the cage was forced open and flew to the other side of the room.

"What do we have here? The traitors are protecting the Luna," one of the rogues said with a cynical laugh.

"Lewis, take your pack of rogues and leave. You don't have to do this," Liam said, trying to reason with the leader of the rogues.

"That's where you're wrong." And with that said, they attacked.

I closed my eyes, not wanting to see anyone get hurt.

Threats were being shouted out, and screams of pain, of agony were all I could hear, along with the occasional sound of bones being rearranged.

After about fifteen minutes, I opened my eyes to see bodies scattered on the floor, one of which was Harris' body. After seeing his body, I saw red.

Liam's POV

After about thirty-five minutes of fighting, I turned to look at Skylar, and to my surprise, she had opened her eyes and was surveying the aftermath. Her gaze stopped and fixated intently on one body—Harris' lifeless form. Her expression transformed into one of pure anger.

"STOP!" she shouted, her voice resonating with unexpected strength. Everyone in the cage halted, bowing their heads in response.

Skylar approached Harris' body and started to cry. Amidst the chaos, I, along with Elliot and Parker, burst into fits of laughter.

"Why are you laughing? He's dead?" she shouted, sobbing.

"Thanks for the confidence, Sky," Harris said sarcastically.

"I thought you were dead." She cried even harder, almost hysterically.

It took half an hour to calm her down. The rogues remained motionless, seemingly indifferent or perhaps incapable of reacting. Skylar eventually succumbed to sleep after we managed to soothe her.

"That was interesting," Lewis remarked.

We all laughed.

"Where is CC?" Elliot asked.

"Ran after giving us our money, saying he didn't want to be here when the alpha comes for his mate."

Harris, Elliot, Parker, and I all growled at the mention of Skylar going back to Cain, her tormentor.

"She is not going back," we all declared.

"Why?" Lewis inquired.

I looked down at Skylar, seemingly asleep in my arms, and replied, "It is not my place to say."

"You can tell them. If you're asking for their help, it wouldn't be fair for them not to know why," she said, snuggling closer to my chest.

I shared Skylar's revelation, and they all agreed to help us protect her.

Cain's POV

Haunted by the past, I was convinced Clarissa Caveman was dead until her unexpected appearance. This twist of fate traced back to the duel I had as a 15-year-old alpha to be, unintentionally resulting in her mate's death. Clarissa sought vengeance through alliances with numerous lovers, all entangled in her pursuit of retribution.

During our confrontation, pity and sympathy clouded my judgment, allowing Clarissa to launch a final, cunning attack. Yet, Lucifer, the darker force within me, seized control. He reveled in asserting dominance, tightening his grip on Clarissa's throat. As her struggles ceased, Lucifer taunted her with the sordid tales of her past lovers—pawns in her quest for justice.

Their clash unfolded in the recesses of my mind, a symphony of echoes from their tangled history. Clarissa, a formidable adversary fueled by grief and anger, faced off against Lucifer, the embodiment of my darker instincts. The battle painted a complex tapestry of love, hate, and vengeance, revealing the intricacies of her tragic past.

We arrived at the location where they claimed to have seen CC, finding it deserted except for an empty cage. Skylar's scent lingered faintly, intermingled with the odors of rogues.

"The cage gate is broken; it must have been forced open," Gabriel observed.

"Either she managed to escape, or she was attacked and forcibly taken," Lucifer speculated.

"Alpha, we've searched the area, and no one was found. They've masked their scent, making tracking impossible. Additionally, there's no sign of a struggle," reported one of the warriors.

"Are you assuming she went willingly?" I questioned.

He gulped nervously.

"Of course she went willingly; she's human. All she knows is that some rogues kidnapped her. Being defenseless and pregnant, do you think she would struggle?" Jace chimed in.

"No, Beta," the warrior responded.

"Dismissed," Jace ordered.

"Don't worry, man. We'll find her soon," he reassured.

"We better; Lucifer is going mad, and Gabriel is eerily quiet," I replied.

"We want our mate. NOW," they declared.

Finally, something we can agree on.
