The Aeternus Universe

The year of humanity is 2415, and DDVR and VRMMORPG's are commonplace now. It's extremely hard for a new game to come out and be successful. The greats of these genres have ruled for a few centuries now. A new game is releasing soon, and it has promise to be one of those. The Aeternus Universe. A Virtual Reality game has what you would expect from a game in this genre. However, some things make it special. One of those being the exploration and adventure through galaxies and The Aeternus Universe. Other games in this genre take it to fantasy and medieval times. This is set in a universe where there are super advanced technologies, spaceships, and Mecha suits—lost Alien tech ready to be found and claimed. Some of these all come together. The story starts 2 days before the release of the game, and with our protagonist—a 20-year-old male by the name of Scott Autumn. He is one of the few jumping from the current major game to this one. Seeing its potential for greatness and chance to be one of the biggest games on the market.

~~~(POV: Scott Autumn)~~~
Durado is really on edge, and I can agree with why he's feeling this way. We're waiting for his inside man on Heroor, and this could make or break our way in. "I'm going to do all the talking, so just sit back and listen. Try to remember everything our contact says. He should be coming through any minute now." That's an easy task for me.
This is a good learning opportunity for me. I'll get my first real look into the world that Durado spends a lot of time in. Hunting down leads and chasing high-value targets. It's not something I have experience in.
I nod my head in confirmation, and a few seconds after I do, the hologram on the command console lights up, showing an entire person.
It's a man in a lab coat, and he's got a datapad on him. He looks incredibly nervous. "I won't be able to do much once you reach Heroor, but these security codes will get you past the automated defenses around the system. Once planetside, it's all no longer machine personnel." I memorize the code he sends to the datapad, and I lift my head to see where the conversation is going to go now.
Durado wants to talk about specifics. "Where was my daughter kept?" The location where his daughter was kept will have information on what they did to her.
The man goes on to explain that he didn't have clearance for the actual experiments and studies that were being done with the found objects.
The only thing he was a part of was the archeological dig and study of the ruins. Anything more than that is reserved for the senior scientists of Teller-Bravo. "I want to know what you found." Durado doesn't mince words.
We'll get a basic idea of what they found since he's on the archeological team that surveyed the site. "I was restricted to certain areas. All I know is the ruins and technology are advanced and extremely old. Our best decryption tech and minds can't figure out most of this place. Everything we have found is just scratching the surface." I can't help being on the edge of my seat.
The datapad went that Durado let me look through had some pretty interesting things. He's saying they haven't even gotten deep into the ruins yet.
I have a feeling that as soon as I show up, things will hit the fan.
The Primordium will have systems advanced enough to detect one from their own species long after their gone. "Let's end this transmission. I don't want to risk anything even though it's secure." Durado tells the man, and he nods his head in agreement.
I watch him press the end transmission button on the console, and the hologram shuts off. Durado straightens up and turns around. He looks at me, and I nod my head. I've memorized everything the man said long ago. I've deleted the info he sent us.
We don't want to get caught with that and expose our inside man. "Let's head out in 5 minutes. I want to get there as soon as possible. We'll get there in about 8 minutes at lightspeed. So I suggest you handle whatever you're going to handle." That isn't a lot of time to do anything in the real world, but I can send messages explaining what's happening to Jess.
So the next time she gets on, she'll be able to see them. I follow Durado out of the command center and towards the hanger bay. I have my player interface open, and I'm writing messages to Jess.
I'm basically informing her that I'm going on an incredibly long and dangerous mission, and I don't know the next time I'll see her. I haven't gotten a mission yet, thanks to the time I have left until we leave but in a few minutes.
I'm going to get a mission, and I don't know what its difficulty will be. "I'm done with my messages, and I'm all ready to go." We enter the hangar bay, and I walk up to my starship, and Durado does the same. There is less than a minute left until I get the mission. I'm having a hard time hiding my eagerness.
