The Aeternus Universe

The year of humanity is 2415, and DDVR and VRMMORPG's are commonplace now. It's extremely hard for a new game to come out and be successful. The greats of these genres have ruled for a few centuries now. A new game is releasing soon, and it has promise to be one of those. The Aeternus Universe. A Virtual Reality game has what you would expect from a game in this genre. However, some things make it special. One of those being the exploration and adventure through galaxies and The Aeternus Universe. Other games in this genre take it to fantasy and medieval times. This is set in a universe where there are super advanced technologies, spaceships, and Mecha suits—lost Alien tech ready to be found and claimed. Some of these all come together. The story starts 2 days before the release of the game, and with our protagonist—a 20-year-old male by the name of Scott Autumn. He is one of the few jumping from the current major game to this one. Seeing its potential for greatness and chance to be one of the biggest games on the market.

[New Mission!]

[Durado's Pursuit PT.1]

[You and Durado are going to find out everything you can on Heroor regarding his daughter.]

[EXP: 88,000]

[Credits: Whatever you can steal from Teller-Bravo on Heroor]

The new mission pops up as soon as I enter Autumn's Fall, and the time for me to prepare runs out. I look to my side, and I see Durado powering up his starship. Mine is already prepared. I lift off and head out the hanger first.

I navigate myself out of the ring of asteroids orbiting the gas giant and input the coordinates for the Yelare System. I turn my ship with my mind and fingers in the jelly. Once in the right direction, I hit launch, and the beauty of hyperspace is passing. I take the helmet off since I won't need it on while traveling through hyperspace.

I relax in my seat and think about what we're going to do first. The codes to get past the automated security around the Yelare System will come in handy. We won't have to fight off drones and endless swarms of unmanned starships and mech suits.

Mech suits are going to be our main problem once on Heroor. Once planetside, everything is going to be flesh and blood—no longer machine. Meaning the mechs that we come across will have people in them. Some mechs are so advanced they're capable of transforming between starship and mech suit.

Something that I wanted to do, but didn't have the funds to do so. Teller-Bravo definitely has the funds for multiple versions of a suit with these capabilities, but I don't know if they'd invest resources into something like this.

Durado and I are going to need the utmost stealth in this mission. Something I'm not sure I can pull off, and I don't want to cause an unnecessary problem that could've been easily avoided. Another concern that isn't about Teller-Bravo is near the top of my list. What will the ruins do if and when I'm there?

Since I'm a Primordium, it'll recognize that I'm from the race that created it. This could cause many problems. Some of them are going to be from Teller-Bravo, and others are going to be from Durado. I have no idea how he'll react if he finds out.

If Teller-Bravo finds out about me, they'll likely try to convince me to join them or kidnap me. I'm not fond of any of these outcomes.

My instant thought is hacking my problems away. If I can access the systems on-site, I can program them not to blow my cover. I know I can access way more than Teller-Bravo ever can.

I could be underestimating the true difficulty of the security on the Primordium ruins... It could end up being too much for even me. The possibility of that happening isn't high, but it's there. There is also the possibility that I won't have to hack anything.

The Primordium systems might even let me in with no fuss since I'm a Primordium. There are many things to consider and so little time to plan efficiently for all of them.

I'll be arriving at the Yelare system in about 9 minutes, and while I can plan for the big obstacles. I can't for all the tiny little ones that can end up ruining all this.

My main focus is to help Durado find information about his daughter, but if there is a chance that I can find out more about The Primordium, then I'm going to take it. Second behind my main priority. I close my eyes and run through many scenarios at the same time.

Do millions of calculations and probability theory, and after some deep thought. Our success chances are exactly 44.87%. I can push those odds past 80 once I get access to the system at the ruins, but getting to that point is 41.44%. This is going to be a mission that we might fail.

Considering that once we get past this part of the mission, I can raise the chances of success past 80. I need to focus on this specifically. Eliminating the threat of actual people finding out about us is a top priority.

Unknown to Scott, the said ruins on Heroor are lighting up and preparing. The scientists are in chaos. They don't know what's going on. They were doing routine checkups, and all of a sudden, the entire site is activating.

Unlike anything, they've seen. They're still locked out of the systems, but things all over Heroor are activating. For what they don't know. The ruins are preparing for the arrival of a Primordium, the last of the mysterious and secretive race... That's long disappeared from this universe.
