New life. Rewritten.

Yuki Kaiba was a young boy with a secret. His current life was not his first one.

His first life he was called Ben Ross, a red-blooded American who had an insane love of baseball. Unfortunately, he wasn't really that good at baseball, having only average talent as a pitcher and barely any talent as a hitter. However, Ben still managed to make his high-school baseball team as a relief pitcher.

Sadly, however, his life was cut short when his teams bus crashed. Two people died that day, Ben and another kid named Kevin.

Ben thought he would perhaps go to the afterlife. He was surprised when he suddenly awoke in an unfamiliar bedroom. Before he could process what was going on, he was quickly hit with waves of information.

He was actually reincarnated as Yuki Kaiba, the son of Reiko Kaiba, a poor single mother who works constantly in order to support herself and Yuki. You see, Ben or as he's now known, Yuki actually had his memories sealed until he turned 5 years old. It was a request Ben made to the God who reincarnated him. He didn't want to relive life as a baby in fear that he'll die of bordem.

A broad grin suddenly spreads across Yuki's face. Getting his memory back, Yuki remembered his conversation with God. God had given him the perfect body for baseball, a body with unlimited potential as long as he put in the effort.

'I have to work hard.' Yuki thinks to himself with a burning desire to surpass his past self, which shouldn't be hard.

"Yuki, I'm home!" Yuki suddenly hears the sweet voice of his mom, Reiko.

'I'll start practicing later. For now, let me go greet my mother.'

Yuki hopes off his bed and runs into the living room, which also happens to be his mom's bedroom. Yuki really hated how much his mother had to sacrifice, if only his deadbeat dad wasn't useless.

Inside the kitchen, putting her bag and coat on the table was a young woman, seemingly in her late 20s. She had long silky purple hair that lay delicately on her lower back. Her eyes were a beautiful amethyst, just like Yuki's. She had soft, beautiful features perfect for the gentle, loving mother she was.

"Mom, you're back." Yuki smiled excitedly as he ran up to her.

His mother turned to face him with a graceful smile spread across her lips, watching her son run up to her.

"I am. Did you miss Mommy?" She asks jokingly as Yuki hugs her around her waist.

"I did, I did." Yuki doesn't hesitate and agrees.

"Ara, Ara, Ara. Mommy missed Yuki as well." She says and then proceeds to wrap her arms around Yuki, pulling him into her warm embrace.

Yuki melted into her embrace, enjoying the affection he never received from his own mother in his past life.

"You want to help mommy make dinner?" Reiko asks while gently stroking the top of her adorable sons head.

Yuki looks up with determination in his eyes. "I want to." He agrees, hoping that helping his mom make dinner would ease her burdens even just a little.

"Alright, go wash your hands first. We'll start after you come back." Reiko instructs Yuki.

Making dinner with his mom was something Yuki thoroughly enjoyed, but what was even better was the supper they ate together.

After supper and cleaning up, his mother escorted Yuki to his bedroom, as it was time for Yuki to go to sleep as he had preschool in the morning.

His mom tucked him into bed before saying her goodnight.

"Goodnight sweetie, remember mommy loves you very much." Reiko says in a sweet tone, after which she beds down and gives Yuki a gentle kiss on his forehead.

Yuki yawns, actually feeling quite tired. "Goodnight, mom." Yuki says his goodnight before drifting off to sleep with a smile on his face.
