Shadows POV
I waited inside the grounders tent with Clarke as she stared at her hands before sobbing. She then began trying to wipe the blood off. Scraping and wiping as Abby comes into the tent with Marcus. Abby held her hands, getting her to stop as I could no longer look. "They would've tortured him. I had to. I—" Clarke sobbed, breathing unevenly. "Okay, it's okay" Abby whispered to her. "I had to..." Clarke's breathing is worse and Abby takes her, pulling her into her chest and holding Clarke. "What did I do?" Clarke sobbed. I wiped the tears that escaped my eyes as a grounder stepped into the tent. "The commander is ready to speak with you two" he announced. Clarke stood to her feet and I joined Abby and her as the commander entered the tent with Indra and sitting on her throne. "Blood has answered blood" she spoke. "Some on my side say that's not enough. They wanted the murderer to suffer as our tradition demands" she went on. "But they do not know that your suffering will be worse. What you did tonight will haunt you until the end of your days. Still, there will be restitution" she tells us. "The body will be given to the people of Tondc. Murderer and murderer joined by fire. Only then can we have peace" she explained. This was bullshit, this was insane. "No. No, we've done enough" Kane spoke up. "The boy should be buried by his people," He tells her. "Enough?" Indra asked him. "We were owed the pain of 18 deaths. We were owed our righteous kill" She hissed out. "My village deserves justice" she adds. "You don't want justice. You want vengeance" I hissed out at her. "You have not seen my vengeance" she hissed right back at me. "We'll do it" Clarke blurted out. "But when it's over, we talk about how we get our people out of Mount Weather," Clarke says. "All of our people" I insisted. "We want the same things," The commander says. "Good, when do we leave?" Clarke asked. "Now" she announced. "Chose your attendants" The commander demanded us before leaving the tent along with the man and Indra. "Clarke, you don't have to do this" Abby stopped her. "She's right, I can go" I tell her. "Yes I do" Clarke whispered back. "If this truce doesn't hold...I killed Finn for nothing" she tells us before walking off. I walk out of the tent, finding Bellamy and the only person I trust.
I walk with Bellamy and our people along the pathway as a horse with Finn's body leads in front of us. Raven sitting right next to Finn's body. "Hey..." Bellamy greeted Clarke. "You doing alright?" He asked. "Yeah" she's too quick to answer. "You did the right thing," he says to her. "Now I get to live with it..." she sighed. "You still think this truce is a bad idea. Don't you?" She asked Bellamy. "I think we're wasting time with politics while our friends are in trouble" Bellamy truthfully tells her. "We need their army to get to Mount Weather you know it" Clarke tells Bellamy. "Their army has been getting their asses kicked by Mount Weather forever" he pointed out. "What we need is an inside man. Someone to be our eyes and ears" Bellamy added. "Forget it, Bellamy. It's too dangerous" I hissed at him. He rolled his eyes "If you two can make it out, I can make it in" he says. "I said no Bellamy!" I hissed out at him. "Since I don't take orders from you...I'm gonna need a better reason" Bellamy says to me. "I've already lost my sister Bellamy...You're all I have left" I tell him. He nodded as I grab his hand. "Okay..." he sighed.
As it got dark we all decided it was best to rest for the night. Clarke and I laid down a blanket and Bellamy walked over. "It's better if you sleep on our side," he says. "We have to trust them...there are no more sides" Clarke reminded him. "Come and join me?" I offered to Bellamy with a playful smile. "How could I say no?" He smirked before putting his blanket very close to mine and laying down next to me. I scoot closer to him before cuddling up to his side. I pull my blanket over us, trying to keep us warm. I feel Bellamy's finger softly caress my skin on my side. "I'm sorry about freaking out on you earlier" I apologize to Bellamy. "I'm not over losing Elizabeth and with Finn..." I breathed out. "I couldn't do this without you..." I whispered to him. "And you like the fact Marcus gives us a disapproval look every time we show affection in front of him" he smirked. "That is a plus..." I joked before kissing him. His fingers tickle my side and I couldn't help but laugh lightly at it as he began to chuckle. "Shhh, you'll alert the parental" Bellamy joked, causing me to roll my eyes. We're kissing again when I slightly pulled from him.
We get to the village gates. "Open the gate!" The commander's men shout. The gate slowly opened and all the grounders climbed off their horses before walking over to us. "Weapons" the grounder ordered. Lincoln is the first to hand his weapon over. "We need to disarm before we enter" he informed us. Clarke easily puts her weapon into the metal crate before the grounder approached me. Bellamy nudged me, causing me to sigh. "Fine, but I better get these back...it took me forever to make" I complained, taking off my bow and placing my arrows with it. Bellamy unclips his gun and handed the empty gun to the grounder. I looked over my shoulder to see the male grounder pulling Knives left and right from Raven. He then turned to the Commander "All cleared" he informed her before joining at her side. I glanced over to Bellamy, grabbing a hold of his hand and intertwining our fingers together. We walked into the village and the people begin to shout and scream at all of us in another Language. A man stood in front of the commander and begins speaking. The man next to the commander must have ordered him to move. He refused and the commander nodded to the man next to her. He approached the villager and punched him so hard the villager fell to the ground. He then climbed over him and began punching again and then again. My stomach turned and I let go of Bellamy's hand and rushed over to the commander. "Commander, stop him. Please" I begged. "They'll blame us for this too" I added."Teik em kik ruan" she ordered and the man stopped punching the villager. "Thank you" I whispered to her before she turned around to everyone. "The sky people march with us now" She announced. "Anyone who tries to stop that...will pay with their life" she informed them all. I scanned everyone's faces, most of the grounders covered in a mask just stared at the commander. She then turned and began walking again. We arrived at the fire pit and the grounders place Finn's body on the wood. "Kru krum Tondsi...Ruan faya, oso soda klin laudnes-de kom foutaim" the commander spoke. "People of Tondc...in fire...we cleanse the pain of the past" Lincoln translated for us. Indra hands the commander a lit torch and she paused as she looked over to Clarke. "Clarke..." she called out, holding the torch to her. "Clarke...you don't need to do this" I whispered to her. She ignored me, joining the commander and taking the torch and she slowly placed the fire onto the wood that caught quickly. "Yu gonplei ste odon" I spoke, causing the commander to look over at me in shock. I knew what it meant, Octavia had told me it means their fight is over. Clarke stepped back and I grabbed onto her arm as we all watched Finns body go up in flames. The matter for 20 minutes everything on the fire turned to ash including the wood. I stand there with Clarke and the commander. "I lost someone special to me too" the commander spoke. "Her name was Costia. She was captured by the ice nation whose queen believed she knew my secrets" she goes on. "Because she was mine...they tortured her. Killed her and cut off her head" she explained. I stayed silent "I'm sorry" Clarke stated. "I thought I'd never get over the pain. But I did" she tells Clarke. "How?" I asked her. "By recognizing it for what it is.." she simply says. I knit my brows together as she looks over at Clarke. "Weakness...." The commander tells her. "What is?" I asked her. "Love?" I asked. She nodded and I scoffed. "So you just stopped caring about everyone?" I questioned. She stared into the ashes of what was Finn's body before nodding. Clarke shakes her head "I could never do that" she says. "Then you out the people you care about in danger. And the pain will never go away" she explained. "The dead are gone," she tells us. "The living are hungry" she added before walking away from us.
I stand between Bellamy and Marcus at the table with the Commander and her people across from us. "Please accept this gift, commander," Marcus said extended a bottle of alcohol to her. "We drink this on special occasions. I believe this qualifies" he tells her. Gustos takes the bottle from Marcus. "Thank you, Marcus, of the sky people," she says. "You're welcome, Lexa," he says back. It's the first time I had heard someone say her name. "Just, uh don't drink too much of it" he advised her. "Clarke, Arabella...let's drink together?" Lexa suggested. "It's would be our pleasure," Clarke tells her. A man handed Gustos three cups and she pours three glasses of blue alcohol and passed them over to us. "Heda, allow me," Gustos says. She handed him the cup and he takes it, drinking from it. We all stared at him, they act like we're going to poison her.
He handed the cup back to Lexa and she spoke. "Tonight we celebrate our newfound peace. Tomorrow we plan our war. To those, we've lost" Lexa raised her glass. "And to those, we shall find soon" she stated. I raised my cup with Clarke and suddenly Gusto's slammed on the table in front of us, causing me to jump back. "It's poison!" A grounder shouted and Bellamy knocked the cup from my hand and onto the ground. Indra took out her sword, pointing it at us. "It was the sky people!" She accused. They moved the table and Bellamy shot in front of me. "It wasn't us. You have to know this wasn't us!" Clarke shouted. "No! We didn't do this!" I then shouted. "Gustus warned me about you all. I didn't listen!" Lexa shouted. "Lexa please!" Clarke the begged. "Tell me something Clark, when you plunged that knife into the heart of the boy you loved...did you not wish it was mine?" She questioned in a harsh and cold tone as every grounder is searching our people. "Heda..." a grounder spoke, lifting a little vial from Raven. I gasped "That's not mine!" Raven shouted. The grounder passed it over to Lexa. "I'm telling you it's not mine!" Raven shouted louder. "He put it there when he searched Me," Raven tells us. A long pause made the room feel uneasy. "No sky person leaves this room!" Lexi shouted before walking out. "Do something" Octavia ordered Lincoln. They spoke it another language before Indra slammed the door shut in his face. I looked over at Raven. There's no way she would do this. I don't believe it, I won't.
I'm helping Raven when Clarke approached us. "Raven," she says. "I need to know the truth," Clarke says. "I'd step back if I were you" Raven warned her. "You wanted me to kill Lexa yesterday. If you tried to poison her, I need to know" Clarke says. Suddenly Raven swung around and punched Clarke in the face. I got in between them "You're the only murderer here!" Raven hissed at Clarke. "Leave me alone..." Clarke whispered as she stared off into the corner of the room. "You gave me no choice. Why did you turn yourself in?" Clarke asked. We all looked at one another, trying to understand who she was talking to. "Clarke..." Abby tries to grab her hand before Clarke rushed over to the other side of the room and at the chair. "You alright?" Abby asked me. "I'm fine, you should go check on Clarke," I say to her. She nodded and approached Clarke. I walked over to Bellamy and sit down next to him. "Thank you..." I say, grabbing his arm and resting my head on it. "For what?" He asked. "Saving my life, yet again" I pointed out. "I almost drank from the cup" I shake my head. Clarke and Abby begin shouting at one another before Clarke storms away from her mother once again. I stand to my feet "Alright we need to figure out who tried poison Lexa" I shake my head. "We know we didn't" Marcus stated. "Who would want her dead?" Marcus asked. "Too many to count" Lincoln spoke up. "Forming an alliance with you was a risk. Especially after What Finn did to this village" Lincoln explained. "So it had to be someone trying to break the alliance," Octavia says. Suddenly heavy footsteps came to the door and we all moved next to one another. Indra and another grounder walked into the room. "How's Gustus?" Bellamy asked. "Gustus will," The grounder says. "Take her away" Indra ordered. Two big grounders come into the room. My heart sank "Wait what are you doing?" Marcus asked. Bellamy got in the way "She didn't poison anyone!" Bellamy shouted. "I argued for all of you to die. But the commander is merciful. She wants only one" Indra says. "She's innocent!" I yelled, my voice filled with anger. "I don't care" she hissed,
Approaching closer to us. "They move, they bleed" Indra ordered. The one grounder grabbed a hold of Bellamy, pushing him back as the other grabbed Raven. "Stop! Let her go!" I shouted, trying to grab Raven but they leave with her. "The rest of you are free. When she's dead, so is the alliance" Indra announced. "You should run" she hissed out before leaving the room.
They tied Raven to a pole and everyone around gathered. The commander approached her slowly. "I take no joy in this, Raven" Lexa spoke. "But this time, Justice will be done" She added. "I didn't do it" Rave says. I can see the fear on her face. "How is that justice?" Raven asked. Lexa takes out the knife and presses it on Raven's arm. "We have to do something!" Bellamy shouts. "Lincoln talk to them" Octavia suggested. Lexa sliced the blade across Raven s arm. "Aah!" Raven screamed and Lexa walked away as Indra approached Raven, lifting her shirt before slicing into her stomach. "You can talk to them. These are your people" Octavia tells Lincoln. "Not anymore," Lincoln says. I kept hearing her scream. "Clarke we need to move now" Abby ordered Clarke. I keep thinking of how this could've happened. As more people sliced into Ravens skin the more she screamed in pain. Then it hit me, it wasn't the bottle. I moved towards Lexa "Stop!" Bellamy ordered. "You'll get yourself killed," he tells me. "I need the bottle. Now!" I shouted as Bellamy followed me. "Stop!" I screamed as grounders blocked me from going any further. "Let her pass," Lexa says as she turned to me. I approached her. "One of your people tried to kill you Lexa not mine" I shake my head. "You should have run" Indra hissed. "I can prove it" I blurted out. The grounder handed me the bottle and I quickly grabbed it, opening it up and drinking a huge amount before sighing. We all waited for a long time before Lexa and everyone else see as well. "Explain..." Lexa hissed. "The poison wasn't in the bottle. I was in the cups" I tell her. Gustus whispered under his breath her Lexa. "It was you..." Bellamy accused Gustus. "He's right..." I scoffed. "He tested the cup, he searched Raven," I say. "Gustus would never harm me," Lexa says. "You were the target" I stated. "The alliance was" I informed her. "We didn't do this. And you know it" I tell her. Lexa takes a deep breath before turning to Gustus. Lexa spoke in another Language. "This alliance would cost you your life, Heda. I could not let that happen" Gustus replied to her. "This treachery will cost you yours," Lexa tells him. "Take him to the tree!" Lexa ordered. The grounders grabbed a hold of Gustus and I ran to Raven as Bellamy cut her down and began carrying her.
Abby took care of Raven woods as all the villagers took their turn cutting into Gustus. "This would've been Finn..." Raven gasped, looking over her shoulder at Clarke. We all watched as Lexa approached Gustus. "Ste yuj..." Gustus whispered. Lexa takes out her sword and aimed in at Gustus. "Yu gonplei ste odon," Lexa tells him before plunging the sword deep into Gustus and pulling it out. "We're not so different...are we?" Abby whispered to Marcus.
"How did know it was Gustus?" Lincoln asked Bellamy as he, Octavia, Bellamy, and me sit around a fire. "He'd do anything for her. To protect her. It just made sense" Bellamy stated. "And look at the thanks he got" Octavia pointed out. "Guys!" Raven shouted, getting all of our attention. "What is it?" I asked, rushing over to Raven. "Listen to this" Raven stated. I heard Jasper's voice on the radio. "Forty-five of us are trapped inside Mount Weather They've taken Harper," Jasper's voice says. "Talk to him. Say something" Clarke suggested. "We don't know how much time we have left," Jaspers's voice says. I shake my head "It's repeating" I say. "Please Hurry. This is Jasper Jordan" he says over the radio. "They're alive," Octavia says. "We need help. We need to do this now" Bellamy stated. "We got the alliance bows the time to use it" he added. "First, we need an inside man" Clarke stated. "You were right. Without someone on the inside to lower their defenses. Turn off the acid fog. An army is useless" Clarke tells him. "You should go" she stated. "No!" I shouted. "Clarke no!" I hissed. "You can't let him go!" I shout at her. "He's gonna get himself killed," I tell her. "My map to Mount weather with a way inside. Find the radio and talk to us" Clarke instructed Bellamy. Nobody was listening to me. "Good luck" she then walked off. "Bellamy...I'm begging you" I grabbed his hands. Tears force through my waterline. "Please don't do this....don't go" I choked out. He placed his hand on the side of my face. "I need to do this Arabella..." he says. I shake my head, biting the inside of my cheek. "Why?!" I shouted. "Why does it have to be you?" I asked him. "Come on Bellamy," Octavia said. "Bellamy no!" I shouted. Bellamy wrapped his arms around me tightly. I hugged him back "You're all I have left" I sobbed. "I will come back, alright?" He whispered before slightly pulling away and placing his lips onto mine. "May we meet again" he says. "May we meet again..." I repeated before I forced myself to let him go, walking away. I knew he needed to, you had to. But I knew also he could die trying to get in there. I couldn't watch him walk away, following Clarke and Lexa into the tent.
