Lucian realized that if this continued, it would result in him losing Alex, and that was something that he didn't want to happen…
"Why is it that you are so against joining that organization?"
Lucian knew that Alex liked his freedom, and would like doing everything he liked. That was one of the typical personalities of Cultivators in books, and Lucian was pretty sure that some elements in the books applied to Alex.
"I don't need them."
'They will also be able to keep an eye on me… and on the things I do, and that can't happen.'
While Lucian had no idea about what Alex had just thought, it didn't matter… He really didn't want to give this up, and he would be trying his best to convince Alex. Maybe it was about to be their first fight or even their last… but it wasn't an opportunity that someone could let go of.
"Let's at least listen to their offer, and if it's really that bad… we'll leave, is that all right?"
Alex turned around and continued walking.
'That fucking… AHH! Why the fuck is he so stubborn?'
Lucian was about to say something as he felt a pull on his shirt. He already knew that it was Ava.
She got on her tiptoes and whispered, "L-Let's just forget about him… let's go back just the two of us. W-We don't need him; only the two of us are enough."
Lucian was almost about to lose his calm composure when he heard that. Hadn't she noticed already, or was she so blinded by him?
'Why doesn't she fucking get it? That guy in front of us isn't fucking normal, he's the main character. He's the one we need to stay with…'
Lucian was about to give up joining the Celestial Family, one of the Overlords of the Otherworld… for the simple reason that he believed in Alex's strength more than theirs. He knew that Alex had a lot of potential… a lot more potential than anyone in this world. He was sure of it.
Also, he was almost sure that without Alex, their chances of joining would be plummeting instantly.
"Alex!" Lucian tried shouting, but he didn't even turn toward him as he kept walking away from the small room that was inside the Coliseum.
At this point, Lucian knew there was no hope… Alex wasn't joining a family or any organization.
'I don't know why I tried to convince him… he was already set on not joining one… Still, why didn't he leave at the start if something like this was going to happen?'
Lucian just couldn't understand Alex's mind. The only thing that happened was making enemies, as Lucian was almost sure that the Celestial Family wouldn't let it go.
'Who knows how much influence they have in all the floors and the trials… Ah, just thinking about it is making me depressed. Everything would have been so much simpler.'
Lucian was debating whether to go back and apologize for their behavior, but as he looked at Alex… He knew that he wouldn't have the opportunity to do such a thing.
*Swoosh!*
Suddenly, huge waves of wind started blowing onto everything.
It was the angels. They were in the sky, flapping their huge white wings right over Alex.
"Young man, be prepared. If you leave right now, you will be the enemy of the Celestials, one of the Overlords…"
"As if I care," Alex muttered under his breath, making it impossible for Michael to hear Alex.
'It's not like this is the first time that I have so many enemies…'
It was the first time in his life that such a thing had happened. Someone refusing to join an Overlord Family, just how stupid was this man… Such an opportunity wouldn't be coming his way twice.
The Overlords were the peak of this world, the ones who held the most influence over the floors. They even managed some of the floors of the Otherworld. If you become an enemy of one of them, then… your climbing experience of the Otherworld would basically become impossible.
Alex didn't even look back. He had already made his choice. He wasn't joining any organizations, and he didn't care about the consequences that would come from it.
'We'll see who's going to be the one to regret his actions…'
Michael just looked at Alex's back and gritted his teeth.
"Who the fuck do you think you are ignoring me?"
Alex kept his emotionless expression and continued to walk.
The moment Michael tried to use his power, blue strikes of blue lightning appeared all over his body, making it impossible for him to use such strength.
'Ah, those fucking restrictions… lucky bastard. 'Let's see how you'll survive in the trial to reach the second floor, you arrogant bitch.'
Lucian could see the anger on Michael's face, but he thought the best thing he could do at the moment was to ignore him. He knew there was no point talking to him when he looked so enraged.
He also glanced at Ariel, who looked shocked…
'Well, of course, she is; who would be stupid enough to refuse such an offer? Ah… why did I decide to follow such an imbecile.'
"Let's go, Ava. Let's catch up to him."
Ava didn't look like the happiest since she had just lost an opportunity to stay alone with Lucian. However, she didn't say anything, slowly following Lucian with a pout on her face.
'Even those two are following him… what the fuck is happening?'
Michael couldn't believe it. Who were those strange people who were ignoring him and his family?
Such a thing had never happened before and would probably never happen once again.
"Ariel, keep an eye on them… and come report to me when they are about to go into the first-floor trial."
Ariel's eyes widened, understanding the underlying meaning behind those words… 'Ah, what did they do that?'
Ariel waved her hand in front of her, and she disappeared. It was the same skill that she had used back in the Tutorial… The only thing that she had to do now was follow the stupidest trio in history.
