Tainted truth

In this story you will follow Jonas Foll. This poor soul, along with six others, has been transported from earth to a world of demons and dragons etc etc, you all know it. Where this story is different from the rest is that Jonas is not the one with the worst ranking ability, instead he's the one with the best ranking one in the hero party (otherwise known as the 'leading hero' in the kingdom of Hestia). However, there is somehow another hero with an ability of the same rank. These two should have to compete about who becomes the leader. Unfortunately Jonas' ability will slowly drive him more and more to madness. Let's hope he does not do anything crazy. Let's hope the ones around him don't do anything that could make that happen.

Secrets nobody should know

[Jonas Foll

Ability: Tainted truths

Description: This ability is of the ultimate rank. There are secrets that should not be revealed. This ability grants the owner the access to these truths temporarily. The owner imprints a part of his soul onto a truth to be able to hold it. By spilling the truth the owner can severely corrupt and even break down the mind of the one he tells the secret to. If the opponent (assuming that it is an opponent) does not immediately die but also cannot resist the truth, then the corrupted will crave more truths. If the owner does not whisper the truth, the effect will lessen. Also grants owner immunity to mind control in any form at or below his level.]

Alright that is indeed a pretty accurate description.

Knowing a severe truth also increases my intuition significantly, but the king and my 'friends' dont need to know that.

I feel like there is way more to this technique then just corrupting someone with words, but I will find that out later.

But even then... being able to defeat an opponent by just whispering something to them is pretty scary.

As expected of an ultimate rank ability.

Wait.

An ultimate rank ability?

Doesn't that make me the leading hero?

But we already have Kent.

What is going on?

"Another ultimate rank hero... this is unprecedented. How could this have happened? Is this at the cost of the other abilities? Normally the average in the hero party except for the leading hero lies around the advanced rank."

Oh...shit.

If me having an ultimate ability makes it so that the rest have terrible abilities then that will make them quite unpleased.

This might be bad, and my ability also seems like a way more sinister one in comparison to 'purifying sword' so I might even get the wrong kind of attention.

And besides, just thinking about activating my ability in order to remember the truth that I want to spread makes me shiver.

But all things considered...

I still have an ultimate ability!

And I can win fights by talking, which can come in very, very handy.

Besides, the way to advance also seems very straightforward.

Advance my soul so support the truth longer and eventually be able to get access to a higher truth without truly corrupting my own mind.

Maybe some hand to hand combat would also help, cant be getting killed before I can say a word.

'I do wonder, however, if knowing these kinds of harrowing secrets, even subconsciously (and sometimes consciously) will have many negative effect on my mental state.'

'But first, let's hope the others still have good abilities. Otherwise I might just be fucked...'

'Alright, let's see who is going to go now.'

I turned around to look at the others.

And they looked back at me with a mix of fear, pity and confusion.

Makes sense considering what just happened and the nature of my ability.

"So you can now makes us lose our minds by saying stuff?"

"Yes Lisa, if your minds aren't strong enough I can. But I dont doubt that you guys can easily kill me too with the abilities you guys get so dont worry."

They flinched. The moment I opened my mouth they flinched. Even Kent flinched, but for just a millisecond.

"What Jonas said is true. It would be best if all of you check your abilities first before being scared or worried."

Well thank you Kent, finally coming in handy for me.

But Clark P comes with a very valid counter argument.

"Easy for you to say Kent, you're practically immune to his attacks. You have nothing to be scared of!"

And there it is. I was wondering if I missed something. That heightened intuition really needs to start working harder. Kent is litteraly immune to my attacks. I have to find a solution to this, because that is very troublesome. Even though I dont intend to fight them.

"Please guys, maybe you have similar abilities and even if not, you still have to know what your ability is. Dont procrastinate."

How fatherly. What he says is true though.

"For real guys. I am not going to hurt myself even more so dont worry about me attacking. Just go through some fun pain yourselves!"

I tried to lighten the mood. It failed. They all flinched again and now theyre all thinking about the inevitable pain as well.

But thankfully, Lisa had the balls (metaphorically) to brave that pain.

"Alright. I will go next then. Please dont remember the sight of me crying guys."

She stepped forward, and touched the orb.

Only to start laughing.
