"Kairan: Surviving in the Modern World" CHAPTER 14

While walking I see the guy with eyeglasses leaning on my car. I just looked in his direction waiting for him to notice us who's getting near the car but he didn't. 

"Hey Draven!"

I turned around and saw Silvestre waving at him. Draven looks at Silvestre too and nods as a response.

"Did you wait too long?"

Silvestre ran ahead of us. I just looked at them having a conversation while Chiki held on my shoulders the reason why I looked at her and stopped walking. I gave her a what's-the-matter-look. She whispers something she doesn't bother to come near to me.

"There's a guy who following us"

I restrain myself from looking around but I can't. It feels like my human instinct tells me to check my surroundings so what I did is, I turned around and faced Sarah and Chiki in that way I had a chance to see what's on our back. 

I see someone with golden hair hiding on the tree, should I approach him or act like I didn't see him at all?

"Sarah, inform Silver that there is suspicious man when we are about to leave"

She just nodded as an answer, and we started to walk again. Silvestre is staring at me like asking what-happen?

Let's pretend that I don't know him for now.

"Excuse me, can you move we're about to leave"

He looked confused so I approached him like he was a total stranger to me.

"Oh? The guy before—thanks for helping us"

He didn't look at me, he's looking at Sarah and suddenly smiles at me.

"Nah—that's nothing"

His response and both of them moved a bit, Sarah opened the door for me so went inside of the car and gave Silvestre a small smile and wave to say bye.

We leave the University and go straight to my apartment.

"Milady, who do you think that guy following us" – Chiki

"I don't know and I'm not sure, Ash has a golden hair but I don't think that he is that stupid to hid on the tree like that"

I answer while watching television.

"But milady what should we do know? I don't think having a meeting with Mr. Silver won't be easy, especially now that we know that there is really a spy?" –Sarah

That's a wonderful question, 

"What about we pretend to be friendly to each other, since he can disguise and not all people can recognize him?"

"So milady saying is that you'll pretend as if you didn't know Mr. Silver and act strangers to each other for them to think that you only met him at the campus and eventually became friends?" – Chiki

"Exactly!"

"Sometimes the most lame and simple strategy are more effective that the well and complicated plans"

I said, shrugging my shoulders and standing up, I went ahead to the kitchen to help Sarah, who is currently cooking our food for dinner. She pleaded with me to just sit down and wait until she finished cooking but I refused. I really wanted to try this kind of things, things that I didn't able to experience before also I read some article on one website that woman is more attractive when they know house works and since this world has a different culture from where I live my twenty years, I need to adapt and especially that I'm living my life but not as a princess anymore.

"Chiki can you contact Silver and tell him what I said before, this once you can use phone, and don't forget to remove the evidence"

I said while peeling some potatoes and carrots, Chiki left the kitchen to do what I said.

"By the way Sarah, did you inspect the apartment? Did you see something?"

"Yes we already done it while you're sleeping, we saw several hidden cameras and audio bugs" -- Sarah

Sarah responded while slicing potatoes and preparing for the actual cooking.

"We covered the cameras with some furniture since we cannot remove it right away and for the audio bugs I put it on a jar to prevent it recoding clear sounds, you can check it after this" -- Sarah

She said while cooking, mixing the curry and frying some meat on the other pan. We cannot remove those cameras and audio recording devices for now. I am afraid that if we do that they will get suspicious of us and notice that I know something, I cannot afford that.

"My lady Mr. Silver said alright and here they sent it just now" -- Chiki

She handed over two envelopes that had Malou and Xyri's seals.

I stare at it and check if there is something written outside of the envelope.

"Ahh—now I remember I'm curious why Silver called you Wednesday? If I'm not mistaken that's Malou's second name right?"

I asked and opened the letters using a kitchen knife. Sarah saw what I did and scolded me for using it in an inappropriate way. I said sorry and she madly said that I can sit now since I helped her a lot. I sat down on the kitchen stool while waiting for Chiki to speak.

I looked at her still waiting.

"M-my whole name is Chiki Suiyoubi and the meaning is Wednesday, that's the reason why Mr. Silver calling me that way"

She said while playing with the tip of her hair brushing on her cheeks and looked shy talking about her name. 

"But milady did you know what your name means?" -- Chiki

I shake my head to say no and that makes me curious about it.

"Do you know what my name means?"

I asked Chiki but Sarah was the one who answered it for me.

"Kai means restoration, recovery and king of all kings while the Ren is lotus, love and goodness" – Sarah

"And your family name—Sai means master, saint and lord" – Chiki

Chiki added and smiled at me, Sarah who just finished cooking served food in front of me and said I should eat first but I demanded to eat with me. Of course they refused. I have no other choice but to say that it was an order from me.

"From now on we'll always eat like this and don't you dare to refuse again, whenever I demand something like this just accept it with a smile"

I said with clarification and started to eat, they just smiled uncomfortably.

"But milady we're just a mere maid eating with our master is unethical for someone like us" – Sarah

"I don't give a shit, besides you guys are not just my maids, you're also my friends too and I believed that friends often do things like this right?"

They both looked at me with satisfaction and smiles. They start eating too and the food is more savory if you have someone to eat with besides I don't feel alone at all.

I am now in my room, I totally forgot about the letter but at least I enjoy eating with Sarah and Chiki. We talked a lot and laughed a lot. That was refreshing. I'm holding the letters and reading Malou's messages first. 'Greetings milay, today after leaving this morning Mr. Ash visited the mansion and I heard that he will go with the same University as you, you should watch him, I can tell that they're really planning something about you'

That's what the letter says, so if Ash and I are going to the same University then I think the guy with golden hair is not just a coincidence at all, but why? They can send someone that I cannot recognize to spy on me but they choose to send that bastard? What is their plan?

Next I open Xyri's letter, 'Dear milady, this afternoon some suspicious man delivers tons of boxes and I am one of  the few asked to bring those boxes to the underground basement and to mention that the boxes have some weird smell, sniffing it is kinda disgusting yet addictive, I think they are drugs, that's all'

Hmmm drugs huh—I did expect that kind of thing but not this early, to think that they just wait for me to leave the mansion to start their things.  Sending me far enough to monitor they really don't want me to know their motives are they really trying to cast me out.

I stand up from the work table and fire up the letters and let it burn to the ashtray near the window.

I get back and continue preparing the soft copy and portable software where I can put the things files and evidence that I can use to threaten people who will go against me. The soft copy will call 'Pandora's Files' and the portable place which is made of steel and has a passcode that only me who knows how and what the passcode is will call 'Pandora's box', this thing will serve as safe place where I can store information and deals between me and another person, like what Malou and Xyri have.

The only missing is the person who will and can manage gaining access to people's weaknesses without getting involved or taking risk of showing his or her identity. I need--
