Crisis(6)

A/N: In the last chapter, I forgot to add gene points Sam got from killing level 2 wolves. It should be 80/100 for now.

As Sam advanced towards the den of the beasts, they became even more ferocious! They snarled viciously and wanted nothing more than to tear him apart. Sadly for them, Sam along with his paperart moved forward steadily.

The beasts one after another was like moths in flame, plunging towards Sam, waving their sharp claws or trying to swipe with their poisonous tail!

Slash!~

Blood slashed into Sam's face as he cleaved the last Alaskan beast in half. Even though he was covered with blood, his eyes were bright and the raging excitement he felt made his blood boil for more!

"Yes" replied Sam. The more strength he had, the more convenient it was for him to survive!

*Ding*

*Commencing breakthrough. Please stay still for a minute.*

Sam did as the system told! Almost immediately he felt a warm current gushing throughout his body, bathing his cells, muscles, bones and blood vessels in it! He felt himself growing stronger again!

After taking a deep breath, Sam searched the whole area for any slipped fish but found none! He found some precious herbs in the beasts' den, he still kept them even though he knew nothing about them!

Sam sat on tree bark and looked at the meat which was roasting. In the darkness, the only source of the fire was the burning woods. The scene was a moment of peace for Sam!

Soon an appetising aroma floated in the air. Sam took a bit of meat as rich flavours splashed in his mouth. He already stored clothes and spices, oils for eating bbq in the forest. Since he missed lunch, he thought of having a sumptuous dinner himself.

Sam patted his stomach after he threw away the thigh bone!

He checked for his next destination. The map had already marked 3 places of dense level 3 beast. One was 3 Kms from his location but that was a lair of Level 3 mutated eagle. It was even more difficult to kill these without crossbows since they had wind ability.

The other two choices, each of them was 4 Kms away from his current location! One was the den of blood eyed rabbits while the other was the den of horned bulls. He could solve almost 80% of level 3 beasts if he raided these two lairs! As for the mutated eagles, he left that for the military to solve!

For now, he would finish the horned bull first then the blood eyed rabbits. After making the decision, he swiftly took action!

Outer city military base.

The soldiers stood on the walls armed with weapons. They kept assessing the incoming beast horde with the help of instruments and other supervision ability personnel.

"Captain, the beast horde will reach outer city gate in 15 minutes. Please be prepared." informed a soldier anxiously.

The Captain was grim-faced as he nodded while clenching his fists.

"How is the evacuation ongoing?" he asked his subordinates.

"Almost those who can be shifted has already been shifted. Rest are middle-aged and elderly." replied a subordinate soldier with a poker face.

"Hmm.. stop it for now. We don't have time. Arrange the soldiers in the archery line and charge the magic cannons. We will start firing as soon as the beasts reach the outer city gate! Try to make fewer casualties if possible" commanded the captain as he looked at the distance with a sombre expression.

"Sacrifice if needed to protect the city at any cost!" said the Captain!

The soldiers just nodded and saluted as they left for their assigned duties!

Sam rushed past the dense grassland and killed some small groups of beasts in his way! He was utterly tired after 50 minutes of constant running.

He glanced at the terrain and found large numbers of horned bulls resting by the river bank! He decided to sneak kill as many as possible in the darkness of the night!

Swish~

Slash!

After a day of the constant killing, Sam had a good grip on his blade! He could now cleanly behead monsters without alerting them.

Blood dripped from Sam's blade as he killed beasts one after another!

Finally, as the bloody smell drifted into the air, the horned bulls were alerted!

"Moooo!!!!"

The beasts roared as they glared at Sam with killing intent. They rushed towards Sam by stomping their hooves creating a dust storm on their way!

Sam hurriedly retreated some steps seeing the whole gang charging towards him. He threw his paperart and then madly charged at the gang of bulls.

"Kill kill kill!"

The paperwolves slashed their wind blades tearing some level 2 horned bulls from their abdomen, while the paperbirds threw fireballs to burn them alive! The horned bulls were helpless as they roared at their enemies!

Sam laughed maniacally as he waved his blade towards the horned bulls, tearing them into pieces!

A true slaughter feast painted the scenario bloody red at that moment!
