Up to this point, the situation at the scene has become evident: the black gang was deeply infiltrated by the police, with Jaquier, Jack, and Dan undercover on the fox's side. Frank, who was kidnapped, served as a linchpin for internal and external police collaboration. The initial chaos was a staged performance, and the old guy had meticulously planned the moment to strike back.
Amid the internal and external assault, more than ten criminals were apprehended at the scene. The bald member, Mike, met his demise on the spot, and the leader, Fox, teetered on the brink of death.
Goofy, seemingly having cheated death once again, approached the wounded Fox. Squatting down, he gazed at the fox lying in a pool of blood, expressing a mix of depression and sadness. "I warned you earlier," he said, "don't talk; it's time to act. Just do it; kill me first. Wouldn't that be the end of it? You fancy yourself as having a personality; when you don't listen, you have to play games with me, Is it over now?"
The fox, choking on blood, could only cough in response. Raising his head, he stared at Goofy with eyes full of ferocity.
Unperturbed, Goofy patted the fox's face sympathetically, shook his head, and sighed. "Don't stare at me; I'll give you a chance not to shoot me to death. Do you want to stare at me now? Childish! Alas, I intended to die. It was supposed to be me, but you're the one who died. However, I must admit, you're quite skilled at dying; I might need to learn from you."
Having said that, Goofy stood up and descended the stairs. The fox, in a pool of blood, struggled twice with all his strength and then ceased moving.
As Goofy descended, the criminals on the second and first floors had all been subdued. On the third floor, apart from the fox, a small leader named White, fortunate enough to survive, was directly controlled by the NYPD.
The stronghold was successfully captured by the NYPD's special police team, the ESU (Emergency Service Unit). In addition to the ESU, police officers from nearby sub-bureaus rushed to the scene, including two deputy chiefs, making it one of the Brooklyn police's larger operations in recent years.
Amid the crowd, Goofy quickly located his colleagues, and his partner Hank was among them. Nervously, Hank ran over and asked, "Hey, Goofy! How's it going? Are you alright?"
"It's alright; I'm unharmed," Goofy replied, suppressing his emotions and shaking his head.
Relieved, Hank patted him on the shoulder. "That's good," he said, "I apologize for not informing you about this plan earlier, but it was Frank's idea. He was concerned that you might inadvertently reveal the plan to the gang."
"What?!" Goofy glared. "You already knew about this plan?"
Hank, with an apologetic smile, replied, "Yes."
At that moment, Frank interjected, "Hank, don't place all the blame on me. You were the one who suggested keeping the truth from Goofy, weren't you?"
"No, you came up with the idea," Hank quickly clarified. "Frank, don't turn this back on me."
"Okay, okay..." Frank spread his hands, adopting a conciliatory tone. "Anyway, you're a police officer, and I'm just an ordinary person."
Hank couldn't help but complain, "Forget it, Frank; you're not an ordinary person. How many people in Brooklyn have fallen victim to you, be they politicians or giants?"
Frank chuckled, "Don't say that Hank; I'd proudly acknowledge it."
Goofy was bewildered. "Can someone tell me what the Fuck is going on?"
Hank hurriedly explained, "Oh, here's the situation. A few days ago, this smuggling gang spread news about seeking revenge on you. Our internal informants got wind of their plan to kidnap your family and use them as leverage. When Frank learned about this, he took the initiative to involve himself in our operation."
"Informants?" Goofy asked incredulously. "And how did Frank know about it?"
"I have my own intelligence network," Frank proudly declared. "After all, this is the land where I grew up."
Hank continued, "We anticipated that this time, the black gang would act collectively to avenge their accomplices, providing us with the opportunity to apprehend them all. Frank pretended to be kidnapped and contacted the undercover agents within the gang, infiltrating their stronghold. Our plan was to join forces with the police to eradicate them."
Frank chimed in, "How did the plan go? Seamless, right?"
Goofy glared at him. "Perfect. I was almost killed by them. Is getting shot part of your plan?"
"It wasn't," Frank whispered, "but I believed you could protect yourself."
"Protect myself!" Goofy erupted. "How can a normal person dodge bullets? You didn't even consider my life or death!"
Hank was perplexed. "Goofy, what happened? The enemy shot at you?"
Goofy nodded. "Yes, these beasts were hiding in the house, playing games with me. They shot at me with pistols to see if I could dodge bullets."
"And Frank and Jaquille didn't help you?" Hank asked in disbelief.
"They didn't intervene until I dodged three shots," Goofy angrily revealed.
"What?! You dodged three shots?!" Hank and the nearby policeman were stunned.
Background data popped up.
[Admiration from Hank +3]
[Admiration from Sam +3]
[Admiration from Roger +3]
Goofy had a wry expression. "Shouldn't you be saying that they made me take three shots?"
Only then did Hank react. Turning to Frank, he exclaimed, "You waited until they fired three shots at Goofy? Come on, Frank, he's your nephew!"
Frank calmly stated, "I was waiting for the best chance to make a move. Acting recklessly would've led to the destruction of the entire plan. Besides, even if Goofy died heroically, I would've avenged him."
Goofy was about to lose his temper. "Avenge your sister's revenge! Who cares about you taking revenge?"
If Goofy had cared any less about his own life, he might have ground Frank into the dirt.
Quickly apologizing, Frank said, "Don't be angry, young man; the bonus will be shared with you."
Goofy was once again taken aback. "Bonus??? What kind of bonus?"
Frank grinned his gold-shining yellow teeth on full display. "It's just a share of the prize money confiscated from this gang."
Hank scoffed, "Frank negotiated terms with us, wanting to cooperate in handling the case. After its completion, he insisted on being rewarded for his bravery."
Goofy couldn't help but laugh; this style was so typical of Frank.
"So, you actually went along with it?" Goofy asked.
"Well, it was Sheriff Schneider's idea," Hank said helplessly. "After all, it's a great opportunity, and we couldn't afford to let it slip away."
Glancing at Frank, Goofy remarked, "You really pulled one over on us, and the NYPD got played."
Frank unabashedly smiled, "It's not called getting played; my relationship with the NYPD is an open and fair partnership."
