Scar Treatment

"Grandmother..." Guan Tong was a little embarrassed. It turned out that the Old Madam had already seen through it but just didn't say it.

"Alright, my child. I understand. Marrying Han'er must be hard on you." The Old Madam patted Guan Tong's hand. Guan Tong heaved a sigh of relief when she saw that the Old Madam didn't blame her. 

"Grandmother, Han'er treats me quite well. I haven't been wronged in any way." Guan Tong felt that she was speaking the truth. She did not know what had happened to Lu Han these past few days, but he was indeed extremely friendly to her.

"In the past, Han'er has been in a coma, so you don't know his temperament. That child's temper was extremely horrible. In the future, if Han'er mistreats you in any way, you can tell me. I'll help you teach him a lesson." Guan Tong knew that the Old Madam's words were valid. 

That man was sometimes cold and sometimes obnoxious. Lu Han was so good to her these past few days that she wondered if she had offended Lu Han at some point in time. However, Guan Tong felt like she was being supported.

"Thank you, Grandmother, but Lu Han has been kind to me since he woke up. He wasn't hard to handle." Guan Tong answered.

"That's good." The Old Madam thought that this was a good sign.

"I have another reason why I called for you today." The Old Madam said.

"What's the matter, Grandmother?" Guan Tong knew that if the situation called for it, she had to be ready for every possibility.

"Come in." Just as the Old Madam finished speaking, a middle-aged man in a white coat entered and said respectfully. 

"Old Madam." The man glanced at Guan Tong and quickly averted his eyes as if he was frightened by Guan Tong's face, but he promptly returned to his composure.

"Grandmother, who is this?" Could this be the doctor that the Old Madam had found for Lu Han?

"Silly child, this is the doctor that was here especially for you. Doctor Hua has been practicing medicine for many years. His ancestors served in the Lu family for generations, so you can rest assured, my child." Old Madam responded.

Guan Tong was a little confused. She wasn't sick, so why was she being appointed a doctor?

"I'm here to heal the scars on your face. You can't have scars like those on your face. If you have a clean, smooth face, you can tie down a man's heart." The Old Madam sincerely wanted to treat Guan Tong. 

On one hand, Old Madam knew that Guan Tong's personality was far more than enough. She loved this girl very much. On the other hand, it was for the Lu family. If this Young Madam was seen in public with that big scar on her face, Old Madam was afraid Guan Tong would be ridiculed.

"Huh?" Guan Tong was shocked at this moment. Treating her scarred face?

"Madam, please let me examine you first." Doctor Hua took the tools and walked towards Guan Tong. Guan Tong quickly waved her hand. "Grandmother, my scars were examined at the hospital just earlier. The doctor said that it can't be cured, so you shouldn't waste a good doctor or money on me." Guan Tong refused the treatment.

The Old Madam did not believe that it couldn't be cured. There weren't any skin diseases in Doctor Hua's hands that couldn't be fixed.

"Let Doctor Hua take a look first. Just because other doctors can't cure it doesn't mean that Doctor Hua can't cure it. Besides, if it can't be cured, we'll think of another way. Now that technology is so advanced. I think we can heal your scars." Old Madam said with a strong determination.

Guan Tong felt her hair stand on end. However, the scars on her face looked very real to the naked eye. But Doctor Hua's examination would have found out that her scars were fake!

If the Old Madam knew that she had prosthetic scars on her face all along, she would doubt her identity. Moreover, letting Lu Han and Old Madam see the truth was different. Furthermore, Guan Tong felt that to come forward with the truth and being exposed was also not the same matter. Therefore, the Old Madam must not find out the truth about Guan Tong's scars no matter what.

"Grandmother, I beg you. Don't let Doctor Hua treat me anymore." Guan Tong covered her face and started crying bitterly as she said this. Her trembling thin shoulders and her choking tone made the Old Madam sad. The Old Madam was stunned. Why was Guan Tong so afraid to see a doctor? Could it be that her previous experience with a doctor had scarred her somehow?

The Old Madam could not help but feel a little annoyed. She only had Guan Tong's best interest in mind and thought the girl would probably want to look beautiful. The Old Madam made a hand gesture to dismiss Doctor Hua first. She would have talked to Guan Tong first if she had known earlier. But because she didn't, Guan Tong resisted getting her face checked.

 "Alright then. It's all my fault for not considering your feelings. Don't cry, girl. Don't cry." The Old Madam's heart ached as she said to Guan Tong. 

Guan Tong leaned on the Old Madam's shoulder and finally heaved a sigh of relief. Fortunately, her acting skills were good enough that the Old Madam believed her. However, it seemed that the Old Madam had not given up on the idea of seeing her face. When the time came, she would need to think of a way to pass for her scars.

"I'm sorry, Grandmother. You wanted Doctor Hua to treat my face, but I…" As she said this, Guan Tong choked up again. 

The Old Madam's heart trembled at this moment. Look at how empathetic her granddaughter-in-law was. She didn't forget to comfort herself even though she had been provoked to such an extent. Thinking of this, the Old Madam's love and heartache for Guan Tong grew even more.
