Preface

So this is my first version of the fanfiction. Before you begin reading this I want to tell something about my relationship to Star Wars and its current situation. This is a note also for those readers who are fans of the Disney Canon and the Sequel Trilogy.

First of all, this fanfiction is based on Star Wars Legends. For those who don't know, Star Wars has two universes, Legends, formerly known as the Expanded Universe, and the Disney Canon. We all know that Disney Canon is the currently official Star Wars canon created after the Walt Disney Company acquired Lucasfilm, having huge plans for the franchise. They created a new trilogy, a set of standalone films (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Solo: A Star Wars Story), some video games (Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, Star Wars: Squadrons and Star Wars: Battlefront) and shows like the Mandalorian and Star Wars: Rebels.

Now, Star Wars Legends is a collection of licensed and background stories of the Star Wars universe, outside of the original six Star Wars films. It is derived from and includes most official Star Wars books, comic books, video games, television series, and other media created before April 25, 2014. This material expands and continues the stories told in the films, taking place anywhere from over 36,000 years before The Phantom Menace to 136 years after Return of the Jedi. Some fans of the current canon may know some of the books, tv shows or games from Legends such as the video games Star Wars: Force Unleashed, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, or the series of novels know as Thrawn trilogy, in which Grand Admiral Thrawn made his first appearance in Star Wars.

On April 25, 2014, Lucasfilm Ltd., after being acquired by Disney, announced that in preparation for the upcoming sequel trilogy, the Expanded Universe would be rebranded as Legends and was officially non-canon. This was quite painful to me as I am a fan of the Legends universe. It is much larger, in regards to the number of media, the number of story arcs and the number of characters, not only from the media set during the original or prequel films, but also both from the time of the Old Republic and the events following the Return of the Jedi. Even the Skywalker family tree is larger than the Skywalker family tree in Disney, as the Skywalkers have not only become related to the Solo family, but also to other families such as the Fel and Antilles families. My favourite characters from the Legends Skywalker family are the children of Han and Leia; Jacen, Jaina and Anakin Solo. Also, it introduced other races into the universe, new villains, and expanded the lore of Star Wars. However, that doesn't mean that all these books, comics and video games do not exist. The books and comics are printed under the Star Wars legends banner.

Next, this fanfiction is also based on the television series Star Wars: the Clone Wars, which is one of my favorite shows of all time. Basically, it did what Legends did, introduced new characters, new story arcs, developed characters that we've already met, and expanded the lore, telling us more about the Force. The show was cancelled when Disney acquired Lucasfilm, because it was also a Legends media, until Dave Filoni finally made the finale season that gave us a perfect ending of the series.

Now I'm not saying that all Star Wars media created by Disney is not good. The finale season of the Clone Wars is a masterpiece, and the Mandalorian so far is great, season 3 is not released yet, so I cannot say anything about it. I just think that Legends are kind of becoming forgotten. Yes, some Legends characters such as Grand Admiral Thrawn were reintroduced in the new canon, but these are the Disney versions, their own versions of these characters. So, I've decided to have my Star Wars fanfictions have characters and events from the Legends continuity. For those who are not familiar with Legends, each chapter will have Legends Notes at the end, telling about certain characters and events from Legends that are in that chapter. You can read them if you want to, I'm not forcing you. Though I must warn you, these notes will contain spoilers for some novels or comic books if you want to find and read them.
