The Boundary Water Woods

As the Overlord looked over maps and notes strange noises came from all around him. As the Overlord peaked outside his shelter, all he could see was the fog, everything was dark, but inhuman noises were creeping from inside the fog.

The Overlord closes the peephole cover and continues stoking the fire. Thoughts of dread begin to plague his mind as the fire crackles.

So this is what you faced during your time here.... What the hell man. How did you stay sane.... Thought the Overlord as he zipped up his sleeping bag. Screams and roars could be heard all night as the Overlord laid wide awake.

By the time morning arrived, the Overlord hadn't slept a wink. He ventured out of the shelter and began gathering some of the metal from the F-80. There were deep scoring gashes in the tail as if something had tried to rip it off. As the Overlord returned to his shelter, a loud, howling scream echoed across the water. As the Overlord looked around, a long disfigured being began running into the water straight towards him. The Overlord fired several rounds into it before it finally stopped running and fell face first into the rust colored waters.

The Overlord was on his ass, breathing heavily as the barrel of his rifle was smoking. As he stood up, he realized the noise was gone, the entire forest was silent, eerily silent.

If I'm going to survive, I'll need to get off this Island. It is only a matter of time before I am overrun here.

The Overlord set to work tearing down his shelter, and beginning to make his journey to mainland Minnesota. He'd cut the emergency beacon from his F-80 and attached it to his jacket. He had his rifle and the sword he'd used back in New Ottawa. As he began his trek, he put on the red lensed goggles he'd been given by the Ghost. The woods seemed to go on and on. It was like the forest was changing and taunting him. He did his best to steer clear of creatures, and other entities that weren't him. He knew he was alone in these woods and had no intention of dying now.

As mid-day came, he found himself along a road. Finally a pathway to civilization, so he kept walking following alongside it until he came to a small down, completely empty, completely silent.

His footsteps echoed as he entered a grocery store. He took some canned soup and some canned meat for food. He scrounged up some water bottles and some batteries as well as he went onwards. As he made it towards the center of town, Specimen Z zombies had begun to move towards him. The Overlord gunned them down as fast as his rifle would spit lead slugs. For the ones that got too close, he slaughtered them with his blade.

Once the fighting was over, he examined the zombies. Seems that Specimen X did the job. They have significantly weakened from our previous encounters with them.

As the Overlord stood up, the sound of gunfire and rumbling jet engines filled the sky. A single F-80 was attacking a Ho-229. However, it was severely damaged and heading outside the city. The Overlord rushed after the planes to see a fiery explosion and then the sound of metal skittering on asphalt. As the Overlord peaked around a building, Nolan dismounted his aircraft.

Nolan?

Hey, good to see you're still alive Overlord.

Likewise, before we catch up, help me hotwire one of these cars, then let's get out of here. The woods give me the creeps. Plenty of inhuman shit roaming around.

Right, let's get started.
