Chapter 60: A Little Lesson for Miss Gil

Zarah went to the CEO's office and kicked the door open.

"What's the meaning of this?!" Zarah asked as soon as she entered.

She didn't realize that Lena was in the room and her face turned red.

"Good afternoon, Miss Jansen!" Lena politely greeted her.

"Good afternoon, Miss James," she greeted back while hiding her embarrassed face.

Lena then collected the documents which needed Xavier's signature and hurriedly left the room.

Xavier's brows raised as soon as he saw her reaction.

He wanted to tease his girlfriend more.

"Is that how you're trained when entering a closed room? You should have knocked before you enter."

Zarah was guilty that was why she was embarrassed.

"I'm sorry. I'll knock next time," she apologized.

Xavier then got up from his seat and walked toward her.

"Come here." He beckoned and pulled her closer to him.

Zarah saw her table on the right side of his office and she looked at him.

"Why did you transfer me here?"

"I'm sorry. I did it because I want to focus on my work."

As she heard his shameless response, Zarah's lips twitched. She thought the opposite would happen. However, she decided to give him the benefit of the doubt.

"Okay, then." Zarah playfully pushed him away as she walked to her table.

Xavier let her be as he was also busy reading the documents.

He walked back to his table and sat while his eyes were fixed on her.

Zarah suddenly became conscious and she tried to hide her face behind the pile of documents on her disk causing Xavier to giggle.

Zarah knew that she could not focus with his hot gazes fixed on her.

"Mon amour, don't hide your face. I love looking at you."

"But I won't be able to focus on my work, Xavier," she complained to him.

"It's fine if you can't. Sitting there all day is enough. I just need to see my motivation always while working."

Xavier felt energetic every time he saw Zarah nearby.

He felt like he could go on for a week of sleeplessness if she was close to him.

'Is this man serious?' She thought.

"Oh gosh! Can you be serious?"

"I am serious!" Xavier refuted. "If you don't like sitting there, you can sit on my lap."

Zarah was rendered speechless again!

"No thanks! I do not want to hinder you from doing your work," she said when she recovered.

Xavier knew that she was already annoyed by his teasing and so, he decided to stop teasing her and let her be.

Zarah heaved a sigh of huge relief when he stopped teasing her and went back to work.

"I want you to read this contract and then please make a drink for the both of us if you don't mind."

Zarah didn't mind at all and so she got up and then grabbed the document in his hand and put it on her table.

"What do you want to drink?" She asked him.

"Coffee. Just don't add sugar or milk to it." He liked his coffee strong.

She then left the office and went to the pantry to make coffee. She also made a cup of hot chocolate for herself.

Once she was done, she returned and saw that there were other people inside the office.

She frowned as she recognized them. They were Crystal and her father, Mr. Gil.

Her entrance interrupted their conversation and it caused great displeasure to Mr. Gil.

"Like what I said Chairman Lockhart, my daughter is very capable. She can do any task that you want her to do." Mr. Gil said and watched Zarah who placed the cup of coffee on Xavier's table before she went to her table.

He thought that the drinks were for them.

But when Zarah ignored them, displeasure was written all over his face. He thought that Xavier valued Zarah but then she was only reduced to being his assistant.

Then he thought that it was fine to bully her or not force his daughter from befriending her.

"Hey, woman! Where is our drink?"

"Eh?" Zarah was puzzled when he called her that way.

She then understood what he meant and so she apologized immediately.

"I'm sorry, I'll make one for you both. May I know what you want to drink sir? Coffee? Juice? Milk? T--" before she could finish speaking, Xavier interrupted her.

"Miss Jansen, Miss James is already preparing their drink as we speak. Go and continue your work." Xavier told her gently which caught the attention of Mr. Gil.

"Seems like Chairman Lockhart treated his staff well despite being incompetent," Mr. Gil commented.

"Miss Jansen here is not just my staff. Her status in the company is second to mine. Please be careful with your words, President Gil."

What Xavier said surprised both Crystal and her father.

"Oh! Isn't she just an adopted daughter?" Mr. Gil thought that Zarah had a low status in the family because she was working as his assistant.

"It's none of your business, President Gil. Now, if your daughter is really capable, why don't you hire her instead?"

Just then, they heard a knock and Zarah went to open it.

She saw Lena pushing a cart with a tray of snacks and two cups of hot coffee in it.

Lena entered and she placed everything on the cart to the coffee table.

She then bowed her head and left after her task was done.

Zarah followed to lock the door.

"I wanted her to learn outside the company before she worked at ours," he continued to explain after the interruption.

"Miss Jansen? Could you please check if we have any job vacancies?" Xavier asked Zarah and so she checked on the HR Department records.

She was surprised that they lacked utility staff but there were no available clerical and admin staff positions.

"Utility staff, Chairman Lockhart," she said.

Both the father and daughter were shocked when they heard it.

"Is your daughter willing to be one of our utility staff?" Xavier calmly asked.

"Chairman Lockhart! Are you trying to mock us?"

"It's not what you think, President Gil. You came here and wanted your daughter to work for us. Unfortunately, that's the only vacancy that we have left."

"Can't you hire her as your assistant?" President Gil suggested.

"Nah. I don't need another one."

Zarah looked at Xavier and these two had a tacit understanding of why this man was trying to help his daughter.

"Please reconsider Chairman Lockhart! For the sake of my long-term cooperation with your father, please do me this favor."

It was true that Isaiah often had partnerships with Gil Corporation over the years.

Gil Corporation's main financer in their projects was the Stevens Bank.

"Are you trying to dictate me, President Gil?" Xavier's face darkened. He disliked it when others tried to use this trick.

"No! It's not like that Chairman Lockhart."

Crystal who had been listening to their conversation looked at Zarah with deep hatred.

Why could she be working as an assistant and she couldn't?

"Since that's the case, why don't we have her as our temporary secretary? Michelle's going to have her maternity leave next week." Zarah suggested.

Xavier's brows raised when he heard what she said.

He was doing her a favor yet she was deliberately allowing this woman to be at the company.

"That would do. Mrs. Lee's maternity leave will start next week. If she still wants to work with us, she may come back Monday." Xavier said but then Zarah added.

"Oh I forgot, we only offer full-time employment since our internship program is over. The only job that we hired part-time is the utility post I mentioned before."

What Hope said shattered Crystal and Mr. Gil's hope.

Crystal was also in her last year just like Zarah.

The corner of Zarah's mouth curled up as she saw their faces.

Ever since she attended high school, Crystal made sure to make her life difficult. Had it not been for Trixie and Olivia, she would have had a dull high school life.

Her sweetest revenge was always getting ahead in their class.

Crystal could not accept that a transferee was able to defeat her in academics every year.

That was why she and her girls would always bully her. Spreading unfounded rumors during high school and even causing students to be expelled from Silver Oak University.

This woman even injured her ankle during their graduation ceremony and she had to deliver her valedictory speech while limping.

And then, they tried to bully Hope earlier.

Crystal owed her a lot. This was nothing compared to what she had done.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gil thought that Xavier would not listen to what Zarah was talking about. However, he was proven wrong.

"Okay then, there's nothing I can do if that's the case."

"Chairman Lockhart, since when did you allow your staff to influence you about this? If this happens to me, I'll fire her immediately and teach her where she stands. Women must know their place in this industry." Mr. Gil said with pure dissatisfaction and anger toward Zarah.

Xavier's gaze turned dark when he heard that, "Are you trying to give me a lecture, President Gil? As you've said, that is your company, this is ours! I don't need an outsider to tell me what to do!"

Xavier was mad.

Seeing Xavier's dark expression, Mr. Gil and Crystal felt cold.

The hatred Crystal felt against Zarah grew tenfold. Because of her, she would miss the opportunity to be with Xavier.

She had always been blocking her way.

"I'm just trying to remind you, Chairman Lockhart." Mr. Gil explained as he tried to pacify the situation.

Xavier adjusted his attitude and then got up from his seat.

"I think we have been so hospitable enough to let you stay in my office and give you my time. Yet all I heard are lectures from you. I don't have all day for that, so I deeply appreciate it if you could take your daughter Mr. Gil and leave this building."

Xavier had never been polite when it came to people like Mr. Gil. However, he was holding back his anger for Zarah's sake.

He didn't want to scare her.

The father and daughter got up from their seat and decided to leave since their visit was unproductive.

"Since that is the case, may I invite you to have dinner with us over the weekend?"

Zarah thought that they would stop being so shameless yet she underestimated them.

"What for?"

"My mother was good friends with Chairman Stevens when he was still alive. She was delighted to know that he has a son like you." Mr. Gil explained.

Xavier could see through his intentions.

He looked at Zarah and said, "Okay."

Mr. Gil smiled after hearing this. Zarah sent them out and Crystal threw a mocking smile at Zarah. They thought their plan would succeed.

"Thank you for coming, President Gil, Miss Gil," Zarah said with a smile but the two ignored her.

Zarah entered the office and she was surprised when she was abruptly pulled and hit his chest.

"Seems like my girlfriend has a little grudge against Miss Gil. Tell me about it." Xavier asked softly and attempted to kiss her but Zarah tried to pull away and reminded him, "Chairman Lockhart, please be serious. We're still at work."

"So can I do this after work?" Xavier teased her and Zarah gulped the saliva that was stuck in her mouth.

"Let me think about it."

Zarah then cried when Xavier lifted her and placed her on his desk and he stood in between her legs.

"Don't you know that what you did earlier turned me on?"

Zarah's eyes widened as she could feel the bulge forming underneath his trousers.

"Your confidence turned me on, mon amour."

"Xavier...please calm down. You still have a party to attend tonight."

"Chris and Rupert can attend it on my behalf. They know what to do about it. Meanwhile, I don't know what to do with you, mon amour."

Xavier wanted her so badly yet he was afraid that he would scare her should he become aggressive in this department.

Zarah gulped down when she saw Xavier's eyes which were filled with need.

"I can help you if you want." Zarah thought that it would be unfair to leave him in this state.

However, what she said was like a switch that ignited the fire inside him.

"What did you say?" He asked to make sure that he was not hallucinating.

"Tell me what to do. I'll do it."

Other than intense make-out sessions with Josh, they hadn't passed the stage wherein they would be naked.

Therefore, she was half clueless about what to do.

Of course, she got curious and looked it up online for educational purposes yet she hadn't applied it in real life.

Her half-innocence made Xavier step back.

"Mon amour, I want you to be honest with me."

"What is it?"

Zarah thought that should Xavier know that she was still a virgin, he would dislike him.

From what she heard, men preferred women who had experience in that department.

Keeping once v.i.r.g.i.n.i.t.y was nothing to be proud of these days compared to before.

"Did you and Josh already do it?"

Zarah looked at Xavier and shook her head slowly as if she was waiting for how he would react to this news.

Xavier who heard this felt like he was on cloud nine. He immediately hugged Zarah and put her down but didn't break off the hug.

Xavier didn't mind if Zarah had surrendered her purity to another man. It no longer mattered as long as her heart was his.

She could have a child with another man as long as the end game was him. He would love the child and raise him like his own.

That was how much he loved Zarah.

Xavier was so happy that he started tearing up.

Zarah was surprised to feel his shoulders trembling so she suddenly became worried.

'Is he crying?' she asked herself and started to get worried.

"Thank you for waiting for me, mon amour!" He said and Zarah heaved a sigh of huge relief.

Zarah chuckled and responded, "I'm glad that I did."

Zarah tried to break off from the hug but the man had no plans to do so.

"Since this is your first time, I promise to make it special."

Xavier then started planning about it.

He heard that a woman's first night should be special and not a nightmare or it would create a bad impression on her.

He didn't want to fail her in this department.

"I'll look forward to it then."

***

At least Zarah still had time to prepare herself for that.
