Old Memories [Prt.2]

SONICA'S POV -- Flashback Ongoing --

Everything was going on well. Professor had signed my adoption paper or something so, we lived together without any disturbance. Sometimes I used to use my super speed to help Eva and Professor. And my other powers also didn't seem to go out of control. I didn't let Eva and the professor know about these strange powers. Until one day...

1 year later. . .

*Knock knock*  *knock knock*  *knock knock*

"Sonica! Sonica!" Eva called.

*Knock knock knock*

"Sooonniiicaaaaa!!!" She called again.

*Knock knock*

"Hmph!" Eva said.

Then professor came and asked, "What's wrong, Eva?"

She replied,"Papa! Today is Sonica's birthday but she isn't opening the door. Has she locked herself?"

"What? I don't know." He replied.

*Knock knock*

"Sonica! Are you ok, dear? Open the door." He said.

*Knock knock*

"I think something's wrong!" He said.

Then he kicked and banged the door continuously until it opened up. He came running inside the room and gasped. "Oh My God!! What happened here?"

Then Eva also walked in and gasped.

There was a small flame of fire in the room, water all over the floor and light bulbs turning on and off. The curtains were also burnt into ashes.

I was at the corner of the wall, curled up into a ball. Professor recognized me and came closer to me and he kneeled down onto his knees.

"Sonica? Sonica, open up dear.. I want to talk to you." He said.

I slowly uncurled and sniffled with tears in my eyes. I looked at him and quickly hugged him.

"Professor.." I whispered.

"There there, Sonica. It's alright.." He said and stroked my quills with his hands.

"Sonica, Are you ok?" Eva asked.

"What happened Sonica?" He asked.

I sniffled and replied, "I...I don't know. I...I have....these strange powers and *sniffle* when it's my *sniffle* birthday these powers get more out of control." *sniffle* I hugged him even tighter.

"Its ok. We'll find out why it happened. You didn't get hurt, right?" He asked while brushing my quills.

Then I separated myself from the hug and wiped my tears. "Yes, I am alright, Professor." I replied.

He smiled and stood up. "Lets go to the kitchen. You and Eva haven't even ate your breakfast." He said.

Then I tried to stand up but I fell down on my knees. I guess I had used too much powers today.

"I guess you have used too much of your power." Professor said. Then he carried me in his arms and we went to the kitchen, "Sonica.. Do you know that if you use all of your energy then you might die?"

He placed me on the chair and went towards the refrigerator and took out a bottle of milk. Eva also sat beside me.

"Sonica..." Eva said.

"Yes?" I replied.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAYY!" She said.

"Th-thankyou" I replied.

Professor chuckled. Then he served me and Eva with corn flakes and milk. We started to eat.

"So tell me Sonica, how did it all start?" Professor asked.

I stopped eating, my ears bent down. Then I replied, "Today morning..after I woke up, I could feel very strong power inside me. First my hands started glowing...then..."

"Then what Sonica?" Professor asked.

"Then everything went blank. I wasn't able to control anything. I started to become scared. Then suddenly I shot a fire ball from my hand which burnt the curtains. Then I somehow shot a water ball towards the flaming fire. And the fire minimized. Then electric sparks formed in my hands, the bulbs went on and off. I couldn't understand what was happening. I panicked and started to cry. Then I curled up into a ball." I replied.

There was silence in the room for a few seconds untill professor said, "I see. I guess I have to do some tests and experiments on you, Sonica."

"WHAT??" I and Eva said in unison.

"Papa, Sonica is not for doing experiments!!" Eva complained. I nodded.

"I know, Eva, but to find out about her powers I have to do some experiments on her." He replied.

"Will it be safe?" She asked.

"Of course!" He replied.

"Well, then it's OK with me." She replied.

"Yeah, ok..." I added and continued eating again.

"Then its final, Sonica you come to the lab after you're done, ok?" He asked and went towards his lab.

"Ok! Professor." I replied and started eating faster.

After I was done I went to the lab and Eva was behind me.

"I'm here, Professor." I said.

"Ok! Lets start the test. Sonica, go and stand inside that chamber." He said and pointed towards a glass chamber.

I was kinda nervous but I trusted Professor and went in and stood there. Then the door of that chamber locked. I started to panic.

"No no, Sonica, don't panic. It won't hurt you." Professor said.

I nodded.

"So, lets begin." He said and pulled down a lever.

Then the machine starting shaking. I got scared and closed my eyes. But then that machine started to drain my energy. It was so painful, my head was hurting the most. I couldn't stand properly any longer. I felt...as if I had...no energy left in me... And I fell down on my knees and grabbed my head.

"AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!" I screamed.

That machine and I were now surrounded by electric sparks. Eva and Professor took a few steps backwards, their eyes wide. Then I fainted.

"SONICAAA!!" was all I heard before I fully became unconscious.

- Time skip -

After I was conscious I realized that I was lying on a table (an experimental table).

"Pr-professor... Eva...." I said weakly.

Then Eva came running towards me and hugged me.

"SONICA! Are you ok?" She asked. I nodded kinda weakly. "Where's professor?" I asked.

"Oh! Papa is in the other room." She replied.

I jumped off the table and tried to walk but I was too weak, I fell down on my knees. Eva supported me by the shoulder and we went to the other room where professor was. After I entered the room (where professor was), I saw that he was talking to someone through his phone.

I heard him saying, "Y-yes, Thank you Dr. James. I'm very glad to hear that. Thank you."

Then the call ended and he turned off the phone. I no longer took Eva's support and I went closer and behind Professor.

"Professor...." I whispered softly.

He quickly turned towards me and hugged me.

Professor stroked my cheek with his thumb, "Oh! Sonica, I-I am so sorry. I didn't know it would be so dangerous. If I knew then I would have nev-"

I cut him off and said, "Its ok,  Professor, I am alright."

We separated from the hug but I stumbled again and fell down on my knees.

"Sonica....you are still weak." He said sadly and tried to help me but I refused his help.

I tried to get up by myself."N-no, Professor...I-I am al-alri-" I was half up just then I fell down again. I started breathing heavily. I didn't know why it happened.

"Sonica..." He sighed, " I know its hard. That machine...was supposed to test your powers but it did the exact opposite. It drained your energy." He said.

"B-but Professor, I am alright." I said then I used all my force and finally stood up. I smiled a little and he smiled too.

"Sooo....Professor, did you find any information about my powers? What kind of powers are these?" I asked.

He sighed and said, "No, Sonica. I didn't get any clue at all. My machine was not that powerful. I can't do it all by myself, I need more help, its very complicated to experiment on you, Sonica. So..."

"So, what Professor?" I asked.

"So, I called Dr. James to help me. He has some more hi-tech and special technologies which is what we need. He said that he will be here soon. He has helped me many times before too." He replied.

"But why him??" I again asked.

He sighed and replied, "We can't tell anyone about your powers. People can misuse your powers easily. And...Dr. James is the only one who I can trust."

I frowned, crossed my arms and whispered, "But I don't trust him!"

Then professor chuckled. "Come on he isn't that bad!" He said and rubbed my head.

"Ok... So when's he coming?" I asked.

"He will be here soon, I gue-" Professor cut cut off by the sound of the door bell.

*Ting Tong*   *Ting Tong*

"Looks like he's here. *Ting Tong* COMING!!" He rubbed my head again and went for the door.

"Hmph! Speak of the devil and the devil is here." I whispered. I really didn't like Dr. James seen I first saw him and I don't know why?

"Oh! Thankyou for coming here, Dr. James." said Professor.

"I am glad to help you Professor." Dr. James replied and looked at me.

He had brought a bag and a briefcase. He came inside and sat on the couch, Professor sat infront of him with me.

"So...what's the experiment you need help in?" asked Dr. James.

Professor kinda hesitated and said, "Uhhh....you see.....Dr. James. My daughter,Soni-"

Dr. James cut him off and said, "You mean your adopted daughter."

I crossed my arms and rolled my eyes.

"Ye-yes, my daughter Sonica. Its kinda weird but she has some kind of unidentified powers in her. I can't figure it out what kind of powers are they. I tried to experiment but-" replied Professor.

"But failed." Dr. James completed the sentence.

Professor nodded and looked at me. "So...will you help me?" asked Professor.

Meanwhile Dr. James was lost in his thoughts.

"Dr. James will you help me??" repeated Professor.

Then Dr. James snapped out of his thoughts and replied,"Uh-uh-yes...Yes, Of course. I will help you, Professor."

"Thankyou." replied Professor.

"So, when shall we begin?" asked Dr. James.

"Well, we can begin now. What do you think, Sonica?" asked Professor.

"Ok! Professor as you wish." I replied.

Then we went to Professor's lab. In the lab, Dr. James put his briefcase on the table, opened it and my eyes went wide open. There were all hi-tech gadgets in it.

"Lets start." said Professor.

I took a deep breath. Then Dr. James took out an.....injection. What???An injection!!?? I am very scared of injections, I thought he would take out some gadgets but no, he took out an....Injection!!!! And as expected I fainted. I heard someone chuckle before I was fully unconscious.

A/N: Sonica was unconscious at the moment so this is what had happened :

"Why did you take out an injection?" asked Professor.

"It would be difficult to experiment on someone who is alive and awake. What if she freaks out??" said Dr. James.

"Hmmm, that's a point." replied Professor.

Professor picked up Sonica and laid her on a table. Then they continued the tests and experiments.

- Time skip -

"So...what do you think about the results?" asked Professor.

"Hmm, looks like her body heals itself automatically after 24 hours." replied Dr. James.

"What?" asked Professor. Then Dr. James took a sharp knife and cut it on Sonica's right arm, only a small wound.

"What're you doing???" asked Professor in a worried and angry way.

"Calm down, you'll see her wound will be okay after 24 hours. I've found out that her body cells recover more quickly than an average living being which means any wound, big or small will be cured after 24 hours, not before than that." explained Dr. James.

Note: Sonica was still unconscious because after she was conscious Professor again made her unconscious.

-- THE NEXT DAY --

Sonica's wounded arm started glowing light blue and after a few seconds the wound recovered. Professor and Dr. James both saw this.

"See, I told you. Due to her powers her body heals faster." said Dr. James.

Professor nodded and asked,"So, what kind of powers does she have, got any clue??" asked Professor.

"Not yet, but we will soon find it out. Just a few more tests and the results will be all clear." replied Dr. James.

BACK TO REAL FLASHBACK:

-- After 2 days --

"Uhh.....Why do I feel so weak?" I asked after I was conscious.

"Not weak dear, its the feeling of energy and powers you have which have ultimately been tested and it caused to drain some part of it." said Professor.

I didn't understand what he said but I nodded slowly and asked, "Uh-yeahh, so.....then what kind of powers do I have?"

Professor took a deep breath and started talking quickly, really quickly, "After you were unconscious me and Dr. James did a few tests and experiments on you. We found out that your body cells recover more quickly than an average being. It takes only 24 hours to heal your wounds. Then at last we found out that you have got different powers which control each soul of the planet. It means that you are able to control the souls and elements which is the most rarely seen power in such living being like you." He finished and my mouth went wide open.

I didn't understand a word. "Uhh...what?" I asked in confusion.

Then I heard footsteps coming behind me. I turned behind and saw Dr. James. I looked away from him.

"In simple words you have elemental powers, the supernatural powers to control the elements." stated Dr. James.

I then looked at him in surprise and then looked at Professor.

"Professor, can you please explain? In more simple way?" I asked.

He nodded and said, "Sonica, you have the power to control the elements like earth,air,water,fire and many more. And according to the the research, your powers develop as time goes by, especially in your birthday  your powers get hyper-active. You have to learn to control such powers."

I was shocked and somewhat excited about my powers. I looked at my hands.

"Then what about my speed?" I asked.

"Your speed is just an extra power along with the elemental powers." said Dr. James.

I kinda started to like Dr. James now. He really helped Professor.

"Don't forget, you have to learn to control your emotions 'cause your emotions activate your powers, Sonica." said Professor.

"Ok, Professor." I replied.

Then Dr. James looked at his wrist watch and said, "Oh! Its late already. I have to go now Professor."

But Professor replied, "Wait, you can stay here today. You have helped me so many times. Let me do you a favour now."

Then Dr. James agreed.

Later Professor gave me golden bracelets and put them on my wrists and ankles. He said that these bracelets would help me control my powers, I thanked him. Those rings were kinda heavy but I had to get used to it. Today was a great day, I found out about my powers, I got new bracelets and I found out that my wounds heal just after 24 hours, no more or no less than 24 hours, COOL!!!

-- The Next Day --

I was playing with Eva in the bedroom then I heard someone laughing evilly in the lab. I went to the lab but Eva started following me, I stopped her.

"You stay here, Ok?" I asked. Eva argued for a moment but later agreed and stayed there meanwhile I went to the lab.

At the entrance door of the lab I called out, "Professor...Professor are you there?"

"COME IN." replied someone, the voice didn't sound like Professor but I went in.

The room was complete dark, lights turned off, I couldn't see a thing. Then I heard footsteps coming towards me and before I could know who it was, I got trapped inside a chamber. Someone trapped me. Then the lights turned on.

"Professor?" I called. Then I heard someone laughing.

"No, not Professor." replied someone from behind.

I turned behind and realized that it was Dr. James. But..why was he doing this??

"Let me go!!!" I shouted.

He then pressed a button and then....two robotic arms grabbed me by the arm. He smirked, pulled a lever and then a third robotic arm came closer to my forehead with a small device/chip or something, I couldn't move even a bit. Then it stuck that device/chip on my forehead. He smirked again and held a remote or something in his hand. I wasn't sure what he was gonna do. Then he pulled down a lever and the robotic arms left my arms and the chamber opened.

I started to run away but just then he pressed a button on the remote and.....I froze, I just froze. He started laughing evilly.

"Do you think you can run so easily?" said Dr. James.

Meanwhile with Professor and Eva

"Eva, why are sitting alone? Where's Sonica?" asked Professor.

"Papa, Sonica has gone in the lab, we heard someone laughing and we thought that it was you. Weren't you in the lab?" replied Eva.

"What? No, I haven't been to the lab since yesterday. Dr. James didn't let me enter the lab, he said that he had some work i-" He stopped then rushed to the lab.

Eva followed him.

"Oh, no. Is he....No, no I don't thin-" He then entered the lab and saw me frozen.

Dr. James was smirking evilly.

"What're you doing???" shouted Professor.

Professor came running towards me and started to help me out but it wasn't working. Dr. James glared at this and took out a gun and pointed it at Professor. My heart started beating faster. But later he kept it back in his pocket.

Professor clenched his fists, "Why are you doing this? I had trusted y-"

"Oh, I will tell you why. Listen, because of you I was not been treated as I was supposed to be. My inventions and technologies were better than yours and you knew it but the other scientists said that I stole those inventions, no one believed me not even you. They put me in jail and sealed my licence for 2 years. They only liked and only appreciated your work. And then later I had to work as an assistant whereas you became a FAMOUS PROFESSOR!!!!!" yelled Dr. James.

There was silence in the room again.

Dr. James continued, "Ever since you came in my life my position has got even lower and lower...all because of you. Now everyone will regret for what they did. With the help of you daughter and her powers I will destroy everything, EVERYTHING !!!!"
