She lay down on her back and stared at the ceiling, thinking of what could be happening in the main house. Where could be her mother right now? Hopefully, no longer be in the master bedroom. 

Matthew was already searching for her. Her mother would not stay in the master bedroom if Matthew was no longer there. She would not wait for him to return to the room and…

She turned to her side, shutting her eyes tightly as if by doing so, she could stop her train of thoughts about her mother being with her husband but her brain was in overdrive, thinking of all the possibilities that she could think of and none of them make sense.
