Snake Eyes and Black Widow

This is a story of Snake Eyes (GI-Joe) being a operative in the fantastic world of the MCU. Of course, as this is introducing a character from an entirely different universe this story will be an AU. Without further ado, please take a dive through the eyes of Snake. Disclaimer all rights and permissions stay with the original writers and creators. This fan-fic is just to take a spin on what it would be like to have one of my favorite characters in the MCU.

Chapter 35: Shadows in the Dark

Natasha sat at her desk, the soft glow of her tablet illuminating the darkened room. She was going over the latest intel, combing through reports that pointed toward the regrouping of the remnants of the Overseer's network. Whoever was behind it was moving quietly, carefully consolidating resources in the aftermath of their victory. But no matter how careful they were, patterns always emerged, and Natasha was intent on finding them.

The faint buzz of the comms interrupted her concentration. Nick Fury's voice came through, curt and direct, as usual. "Romanoff. Get to the briefing room. We've got an unexpected visitor."

Her eyebrow raised. "A visitor?"

"You'll want to see this," Fury replied, his voice carrying something she couldn't quite place.

Curious and cautious, Natasha stood and made her way to the briefing room, her mind racing with possibilities. She was expecting another lead on the Overseer's fractured network or perhaps some new intel on the mysterious players moving behind the scenes. But when she stepped into the room, she was met with something else entirely.

Standing in the middle of the room, clad in his familiar black armor, was Snake Eyes.

Natasha stopped in her tracks, surprise flickering across her normally composed face. He hadn't been in touch since shortly after the dismantling of the Overseer's original hubs, disappearing on his own mission, and now, without warning, here he was.

Their eyes met, and though his face was hidden behind the mask, she knew him well enough to read the subtle shift in his posture. There was no need for words. They both understood the gravity of the situation without having to say it aloud.

Fury, standing to the side, crossed his arms and gestured to Snake Eyes. "He's back. Thought you two might want to get caught up."

Natasha gave a slight nod to Snake Eyes, the smallest smile tugging at the corner of her mouth. "You always have perfect timing," she said, her voice calm despite the relief she felt at seeing him again.

Snake Eyes said nothing, but his movements were deliberate as he reached into his belt and handed Natasha a small device. She took it, glancing at Fury before activating it. The holographic images that sprang to life before her showed satellite imagery, reports, and surveillance footage—each piece more incriminating than the last. These were unmistakably remnants of the Overseer's work, but there was something new, something she hadn't anticipated.

New players had entered the game. Powerful players.

Natasha's eyes narrowed as she studied the data. This wasn't just a rogue faction clinging to the pieces of the Overseer's empire—this was organized, well-funded, and deliberate. Whoever was behind this was moving fast, consolidating assets and preparing for something big.

"This lines up with the intel we've been getting," Natasha said aloud, her voice thoughtful. "But it's bigger than we thought."

Snake Eyes stepped forward, silently motioning to one particular image—a remote facility, hidden deep in an undisclosed location. It was heavily fortified and clearly important, yet it hadn't been on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s radar until now. Natasha's eyes followed his gesture, her brow furrowing.

"This is where they're consolidating everything?" she asked, glancing at Snake Eyes. His slight nod confirmed it. The image wasn't just another hub—it was the heart of the operation.

Fury, who had been studying the data from the side, stepped up, his face grim. "We need to hit this, and we need to hit it fast. If they're gearing up for something, we don't want to wait around to see what it is."

Natasha folded her arms, her eyes still on the image. "We can't go in blind. They've stepped up security since the last hub went down. We'll need to infiltrate, gather intel, and take them down from the inside."

Fury nodded. "Agreed. But this place is a fortress. You're going to need someone who knows how to get in without setting off alarms."

Natasha glanced at Snake Eyes, the question unspoken. He didn't need to say anything. She already knew the answer. He had scouted the facility, done his own recon, and he was prepared for this. They had been in worse situations, and this time, they had the element of surprise.

Snake Eyes moved to the map, indicating a back entrance on the north side of the facility. It was lightly guarded, and more importantly, it provided direct access to the power grid. Natasha understood immediately. If they took out the power, they could disable the defenses long enough to get to the command center and shut down the operation from within.

"Power grid first, then the command center," Natasha said, her mind already shifting into mission mode. "Small team. No more than necessary. If we can knock out their defenses before they know we're inside, we'll have the upper hand."

Snake Eyes gave her a sharp nod, already moving toward the exit. There was no need for more explanation—he was ready.

Fury watched them for a moment before stepping back. "Get your gear. We move on this soon."

As they left the briefing room, the tension between Natasha and Snake Eyes was palpable, though it wasn't the kind of tension born of uncertainty. It was the unspoken understanding that came from years of working together, from trusting each other in the most dangerous situations.

As they approached the armory, Natasha glanced at Snake Eyes. "You've been quiet," she said, knowing full well the irony of her statement. It wasn't unusual for him to disappear into the shadows, but even for Snake Eyes, this mission felt more personal.

He didn't respond, but Natasha could sense the resolve behind his silence. He had been tracking this new threat for weeks, and whatever he had discovered, it was enough to bring him back into the fold, to seek out S.H.I.E.L.D. and Natasha again.

As they geared up, the weight of the upcoming mission settled over them. This wasn't just about taking out another piece of the Overseer's network—it was about stopping something much bigger before it could take root.

Natasha buckled the straps on her gear, her mind already calculating the next steps. They had a plan, they had Snake Eyes' intel, and they had each other. Whatever waited for them at that facility, they would face it together.

As they walked toward the transport that would take them to the mission site, Natasha felt a quiet sense of certainty settle over her. With Snake Eyes by her side, there was no mission too dangerous, no enemy too formidable.

She shot him a glance as they boarded the jet. "Glad you're back," she said softly, her words carrying a weight she knew he would understand.

Snake Eyes didn't respond, but the small nod he gave her was all she needed.

The shadows were growing darker, but together, they would find a way through.
