Sigma: Retribution System of The Fallen

Only the most pathetic fall to the bottom of the abyss, but every legend has crawled their way up from that very place. ... Damien is a death row prisoner. As he counts down his last days, to his surprise, he is bought by the Sigma company. The Sigma company brought Damien and a few others up from the brink of death, only to toss them down once again. Now Damien and his new less than agreeable companions must fight increasingly ghastly monsters for their freedom and immediate survival. After they clear labs by the skin of their teeth, the Sigma company gives them strange injections. To Damien’s shock, these injections gave them superpowers he could only dream of. This was his chance for freedom, for all of them to start anew. Only problem? There was more to these injections than any of them could imagine. Was this really a chance for freedom? Or was it a one-way ticket to Hell?

Emotionless

The corner of Killian's lip turned up.

"What do you think I mean?"

Damien didn't respond.

Adonis looked at him strangely.

"Could you just say it? I don't care enough to guess."

Killian tilted back until his head hit the wall behind him.

"Haha, to put it bluntly, I killed her."

Zenos' expression twisted.

"Excuse me?"

Killian cleared his throat.

"I killed her."

Adonis' head snapped to him.

"What did she do?"

Killian blinked a few times.

"What do you mean by that?"

Adonis scratched the side of his head in confusion.

"If you killed her, then she surely did something, right? You didn't specify that part at all. Did she go for someone else or was secretly using you for something?"

Killian shook his head.

"No, nothing like that."

Adonis frowned.

"Then what is it?"

Killian looked up to the metal ceiling.

"...Nothing."

Adonis raised an eyebrow and even stood up.

"Ha?"

The way that he was now looking at Killian, made it clear that he was annoyed. It seemed that Adonis was still annoyed at Killian for supposedly hiding the truth since he was sure that some reason was surely behind it.

Killian laughed a little too loudly.

"She seriously did nothing. At least, nothing negative. For practically the entire time, she was really supportive and didn't even care about all the shitty parts of me."

Adonis paused.

"...So it was an accident?"

Killian shook his head.

"No."

Adonis furrowed his brow.

"Were you forced into doing it?"

Killian shook his head once more.

"It was completely by my own will."

Zenos spoke slowly.

"Ah, right. Psychopath."

Killian laughed once more, though while it was a passionate one, it somehow sounded sad.

"That is what it all boils down to."

He lifted up both of his hands, extending out both of his thumbs and index fingers, before slowly bringing them together to form a rectangle. His eyes stared into it almost like he could be transported into it. Yet, in the end, the lens he created was fake, as nothing had changed despite looking through it.

Killian took a deep breath.

"She dealt with me for a few years. And the entire time, I never responded to her in the way that she cared for me. The entire time, I just felt like I couldn't care. Despite showering me with so much affection, it felt just like any other day. In the end, I still felt that empty feeling that had been following me for my entire life."

His eyes narrowed slightly.

"It's almost like I got a hole in my head or something. But no matter how much I wanted to try, I just couldn't love her. But that just felt too ridiculous to me. It was definitely strange how fast people get close to each other in movies. However, even a person like me could tell it was strange that I didn't care about someone that had taken care of me like that for years."

He blinked a few times.

"I remember bringing this up to her. She looked a little heartbroken, but still, she didn't leave me, nor did she change how she treated me. She told me that maybe I just didn't realize it, but I did care for her."

Killian let his hands fall to his sides powerlessly.

"And I decided to believe that. I kept telling myself again and again that I just didn't recognize it. But no matter how hard I tried, those doubts continued to come for me. The logical part of me was just too overbearing. It wouldn't let me delude myself because of how grounded I was in reality."

He let out a faint chuckle.

"But I still wanted to believe her. I wanted to believe her with everything I had."

The smile gradually disappeared from his face.

"So I tested it. If I really cared about her, I would be devastated if she died. I would be a crying mess like all those guys in the movies. I would become an absolute mess that didn't care about anything else anymore with severe trauma that would prevent me from living normally ever again."

His eyes seemed to glaze over.

"So I killed her. To see if it would work."

Zenos furrowed his brows.

"...It's hard to believe you care about someone that you would kill so willingly, and for such a frivolous reason."

Killian didn't seem to notice that Zenos had even talked.

"So I stabbed her in the chest. I remember she looked at me with so much surprise. She probably couldn't understand why I did that. When I pushed her down to the ground, still pushing the knife deeper, she continued to look at me. Her mouth slowly opened, making me think that she was going to ask a question. But in the end, she closed it."

He swallowed, before lightly touching the side of his face with the tips of his fingers.

"She just reached out to my face, and lightly brushed my cheek. She even smiled. I thought I would feel pain. Maybe I would despair and regret my actions forever. But somehow, the empty feeling became even stronger. For a while, I could've sworn that I was hollow."

He gradually began speaking faster.

"I watched as she slowly died. At some point, she couldn't keep her hand up anymore, and it fell. She no longer had the capability to smile, so her face just relaxed. And the entire time, I felt nothing."

He began making gestures that were random and didn't really relate to what he was saying.

"So I thought maybe I just had to continue stabbing her. That I just didn't understand she had died. And that's exactly what I did. I continued to stab her again and again. The blood was warm at first, but as time passed it just became dry and sticky. I kept stabbing, again and again, thinking that would change things."

Killian suddenly stopped his ramble. Then spoke the next words softly.

"But in the end, I still felt exactly the same as before. As I've always been."

There was a moment of silence.

Killian scratched the back of his head.

"Eventually the police found me stabbing the body, and they arrested me. And I'm sure you can fill in the blanks for how I ended up getting here."

Zenos clicked his tongue.

"I don't know who to call more crazy, you or the girl that really decided to stay with you and not hold a grudge even as the knife was plunged into her heart."

Adonis nodded to himself.

"So that's why you're an asshole."

Killian nodded.

"Yeah, pretty much. It's really not all that complicated."

He shrugged his shoulders.

"It's just the kind of person I am."

Damien spoke flatly.

"You really just revealed your entire life story like that, huh?"

Killian held out one hand like he was a butler holding a tray of food.

"It's not like there's anything worth hiding. I don't really care about that kind of stuff. I mean, you could probably tell I don't care about most things."

Zenos narrowed his eyes.

"...That much is clear."

None of the three had that much of a reaction. Though it wasn't something they were expecting, they also didn't think it was that big of a deal that Killian was that kind of person.

After that story, silence lingered between them once more. There was still quite a bit of time to pass if they wanted to wait the whole twenty-four hours.

Killian sighed.

"Can one of you guys explain how you got here? I would share more, but I literally explained my entire life already, so there's not much to add."

Damien clicked his tongue.

"So much for not caring about things."

Killian held onto the side of his head.

"I'm bored as fuck, alright? That's one thing I care about at least. Just make it up or something, I dunno. Are we really going to spend almost twenty hours just sitting here doing nothing?"

Damien cracked his neck.

"Well, I'm too lazy to tell mine. If the other two had different opinions they can go on ahead."

Zenos shook his head.

"It's boring anyway. I frankly don't care enough to share."

Adonis frowned.

"In my case, there's not really anything to tell, so there isn't much of a point."

Killian plopped down on his back.

"So we really are just going to stay here like this? I'd rather go do a lab and get killed instead of this crap!"

Damien blinked a few times.

"...Well, I didn't really want to stress anyone out, but we do have to talk about our food supply and when we're going to eat."

Killian sighed.

"I'd rather hear that than just sit here and do nothing."

Damien blinked a few times.

"Alright. So, I've been thinking there definitely has to be something more to what is referred to as bars, and the bottles of water that we have."

Those bottles of water are actually limited edition signed by the legendary- ...No? Are you sure though?
