SHE IS THE ONE

EPISODE 6

Dan saw Joel looking at him in the mirror, and smiling.

"Stop looking at me with those judgemental eyes, and don't say anything, just keep it to yourself. I know I am a jerk. But I couldn't just pass her, you know. I know I said I had forgotten about her but I was wrong. You can judge me if you like." Dan said to Joel laughing.

"I am not judging you, sir, you did the right thing, I am proud of you. She is a good lady, and I know you already love her. It's not going to be easy for both of you, so you have to be ready and stay strong if you really want to be with her. Your family won't like her. So you'll have to protect her if you're in love with her." Joel replied.

"I take care of that, don't you worry about it. Just don't tell my mum about it yet, let me win her heart first then I will tell her myself." Dan said.

The following day, Dan woke up very early. He had a client to meet in his firm in Kisumu at 9 am. Joel was also to take the car to service that day. They left home at 8 in the morning. When they reached Kisumu, Joel dropped him at his firm then took the car to the garage for servicing.

Dan attended to his client then went to SHERIFF company where he was working as the internal auditor. He left his secretary to take care of the rest of the things in the office.

At around 2 pm, Joel came back with the car. Dan completed what he was doing in the office then told Joel to take him to town. He was going to buy a new phone. When they reached Safaricom shop, he told Joel to stop, Joel didn't know he was going to buy a phone, he thought maybe Dan was going to meet a client or a friend.

Dan got into the shop and bought a Samsung phone; Samsung galaxy A30, at a cost of Ksh. 27,0000. After buying the phone, he took Joel to Lwang'ni beach for lunch, Joel still had no idea that his boss had bought a new phone, though he saw him come out of the shop with a Safaricom branded bag.

They stayed at Lwang'ni beach until 4 pm then they left for home.

"Hey Joel, you know what to do. Don't pass Ndori without stopping." He said.

"Copy that sir," Joel replied.

When they reached Ndori, Joel stopped the car, unfortunately, the lady was not around again that day. They waited for about 20 minutes then she came, she saw Dan's car and went to him. She did not go with bananas this time, she didn't want to make more money from Dan, she knew it was wrong.

"Hello Florence, I thought you were bringing bananas," Dan asked her.

"I am sorry sir, there are no bananas today, I sold all of them." Florence lied to him.

"Then I am so unlucky, anyway, how was your da?"Dan asked.

"My day has been great," Florence replied.

"Can you come in so that we talk?" Dan asked her to get inside the car because he was feeling weird talking to her through the window.

"No sir, we can just talk here, I am so dirty I can sit in the car."

"You're not dirty, but even if you were, then you have been at work. But anyway, let me come out then we talk if you can't get in."

"No need sir, actually, I am leaving right now, I just came to say thank you and to greet you, my mom is waiting for me down there, I really have to go now."

"Okay, you told me you don't have a phone but you need to keep in touch with your customers, so I bought you one. I know it's not good enough but it can help you for now."

Dan removed the Samsung phone from the box and handed it over to her.

"No sir, this is too much, I can't take this, it's not right. Thank you so much sir for caring but I can't take it." Florence said to him, though deep inside she really loved the phone and she wanted to take it. But she was afraid.

"Look Florence, this is just a phone, it's not a big deal, I just don't like waiting for you once I get here and I always want to stick to one customer. Just take the phone please." Dan convinced her.

"This is really not right sir, but thank you very much, may God bless you sir, may you never lack sir." Florence agreed to take the phone.

"Please call me Dan, so do you have a sim card or do you have your ID so that we register for you a new sim card?" Dan asked her.

"I have a sim card, sir, I had a phone but it broke, so I kept the sim card." She replied.

"Okay, I have saved my number there, use this to buy credit, then when you get home you can call me so that I get your number." Dan gave her five hundred shillings to buy credit

"I will sir, thank you very much, may God bless you, sir." Her mother called her while she was still talking to Dan. Dan gave her phone accessories and the bag then he released her to go.

Her mother was shocked to see her talking to someone in a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 car. She never liked it, she thought maybe Dan was just after something or he wanted to put her daughter into some trouble.

"Florence, who the hell is that guy? And what is that you are carrying in the bag?" Her mother shouted scornfully...
