SCP: The Unforseen Variable (Old)

Murrey, finds himself in a new world made of laws he dosen’t understand. Find as he grows his organization creates a religion and tries to prepare for the end of everything. This book is being rebooted because I screwed up some plot points that I can’t fix aside from rewriting it all. So I’m doing a reboot. If you wanna get a sneak peek into what the reboots plot is gonna be later down the line I guess you can read this. I wouldn’t because it would make the pay offs less impactful, but you do you. Permission was given to me by Duy Giang to use his art for the cover go check him out. They’ve made some of the coolest and quality art related to SCP on a visual level and is one of the reasons I wanted to make this book

Way Too High Intelligence Means Something

As I started studying I realized something. I was getting what the books were saying abnormaly quick. By the time I had turned the page of one book I had already come up with several different theorys involving what I had read. In one of the books which was created by one Knowles May who I quote "Hails from the glorious and magnificient Albania." If there's not anything more screaming I am a reality bedner I don't know what is. But aside from all that nonsense the book was filled with some honestly quite usefull information.

Such as an excerpt which read. "Most Magicians tend to lock themselves into towers and seclusion for long periods of time as research into the world and its laws strengthen ones magic. This is theorized the case as when one knows more about the world they may change more by inflicting their will."

This right here is groundbreaking for me. Why? I a man who is able to pick up information easy and has readilly access to SCP-5097. Who was at the moment cramming every bit of combat tactics and strategy into my facility guards heads as possible. Though not happily as they voiced their opinion if teaching more peacfull and helpfull subjects. And thats not even counting the fact that I am able to transport myself AT WILL through the Way to a Library that is seemingly infinite and probably has copys of books detailing physics that I wouldn't see in my world for hundreds of years...

I had to stop myself from trailing off before I commited to spending the rest of my life in here reading every book to ever exist, but I digress. This probably explains why SCP-500 is so inexplanable. The thing wasn't made by using pure science, but instead combining the concepts of health, vigour, energy, fitness, strength, well being and condition. All this combined into one tiny pill. I had found out the concept the creator of SCP-500 has used and have thoroughly understood it.

And now with that stack of books done with I moved onto the next pile of books the first was smartly titled "Reality's Trivialaties". Of which it explained how to make subtle unnoticable changes to the world around you. Making your cold coffee hot but preventing it from burning you or letting of steam. How to make the air encapsulating your body be at a constantly comftorable temperature, even in the vacumm known as space, oxygen not included. It was these quality of life changes that were mainly held in this book, but even masked by the simplicity of its changes. It was still difficult to grasp, for all the 10 minuites it eluded me.

At this point I was surprised I hadn't obtained a parrelel mind skill by how fast I was studying and constantly thinking of the world and how I could manipulate the world around me. Noticeably though whilst reading through all the books about reality bending I hadn't yet seen a reference to SCP-500s use of concepts. This one seemed quite odd as if the strength and power of your Reality Bending rested upon your knowledge of the world someone would probably have thought of the use of concept way before the creator of SCP-500.

That was until I read in a book titled "General Rules and Regulation to Follow." First annoyed at the fact that the Library gave me a rule book about reality bending when the whole point of it is Bending the Rules of Reality. But about halfway through the book all of the previous rules were nonsensical and superstitious jarjon until one rule made me stop in my tracks. "Beware of the use of concepts for to use it opens yourself up to the concept as a whole. Many have perished seeking glory and power through concepts all of which have met their untimely demise. So I inplore you to find lesser alternatives."

That would explain why we don't have multiple necromancers with an army in the millions in an underground network. But makes me wonder why and how did the creator of SCP-500 make them. And as I continued reading I found myself at my answer 47 books later.

At a book titled "Attunement and You". "Your going to be getting your attunement soon good for you. This is a wonderous opportunity but don't fret getting even the most basic of attunements are wonderfull and will boost your Reality Bending further. Although you can travel into verious types of bending it is commonly known that those who do so can at best become above average compared to those who do have attunments in that type. And if your willing to put that effort into something you aren't naturally understanding of you'll make a great Reality Bender of your type."

The book then described some sort of ritual that recquired what was called in the book as a "Seeing Stone". Have I mentioned how over the top Reality Benders are yet because they seem to like to add various mystical esc adjectives onto everything they touch. One of my favourites being "Apparatus Glasses" which were just some recipe for a guys glasses enchanted with better vision. Seriously "Apparatus" dosen't even make sense to be there. Anyway about the seeing stone apparently it was sort of orb that would allow others to attune themselves with their affinitys to avoid an "Untimely Demise" when bending their attuned affinitys.

It just so happens that the orb is rare, but while taking a break I decided to open up SCP-500 creators journal and see if it judged me "Worthy." To which I was greeted by a supposed address to a cache of supply after skimming the the ting for anything I didn't already know. And so I decided to take a break and headout to go get this cache of supplys as the creator of SCP-500 probably wouldn't kill themselves to make a bottle of pills.

As I was putting in a bookmark prvided by the Library I was greeted by a (Quest)

(Quest: Utility of an Affinity)

You need to attune to your affinity if you wish to use higher tiers of Reality Bending. Fortunetly your predecessor thought the same and has stored their "Seeing Stone" in a safehouse outlined in what was their journal.

Collect the "Seeing Stone" and attune to your affinitys.

Checking my status I realized I had forgotten about SCP-269 and was due for a checkup 1 week ago.

(Skills)

(The Numbers 4/5)

(The Laws 4/5)

(The Liquidator 4/5)

(Item abilities)

(Professionals Gloves)

Give innate knowledge of how to use a weapon when in contact with them

(Timekeepers Pocket-watch)

Increases reaction time when kept on wearer, allows the user to hypnotize a person

(Veterans Trench-coat)

Increased Durability, allows the Trench-Coat to be manipulated into anything the wearer wills.

(Enigmatic Figure)

A mask that in its passive state no one can see and will automatically protect any attacks against the users head due to exerting their will on the object

In its active state it will blur the user to others as if they were a shadowy figure who people struggle to perceive. If seen through it will constantly shift your appearance to believable but random people

Noticeably my (The Laws) (Skill) had gone up a level but would probably be much harder to increase because of me learning everything I could about the world and everything that effects it from a scientific standpoint. And with my stack of books on the esoteric were almost done and probably wouldn't be able to advance it to 5/5, my calculations also agreed with me there.
