How's she? I asked staring at my wife not sparing him a glance.

She's fine although her head was knocked pretty hard. But no worries she didn't sustain any injuries. The doctor explained.

Ok. I felt relieved but my anger towards the perpetrator didn't subside.

May I take my leave now? He asked hesitantly.

Relief washes over his face as he quickly leaves the ward. Everyone who knew Mr Park knew it was hard to be in the same space with him for a long.

Mav's Pov

I almost had a heart attack thinking of what state she was in. When I received the call I swear my heart stopped for a second and all I could feel was a tightening pain in my chest. As I stared at her sleeping face I couldn't help but feel anger towards the person who did this to her. And then she stirred in her sleep.

Stay put!.. I said as she adjusted her eyes and tried sitting up.

Mav... She said with a surprised look on her face. What are you doing here and why did I end up here? She asked a bit confused and suddenly clutched her head in pain. Ouch!!

I already told you to stay put! I repeated feeling pissed just by seeing her in pain.

Sorry... She apologized.

Ruffling my hair helplessly. It's okay I'm sorry... I'm just... How did this happen, Scarlet? I asked as my face darkened.

She tried to recollect, "The last thing I remember was leaving the restroom when I felt a hard knock on my head." I... I.. I don't know Mav...

I felt irate and asked if she knew anyone who could have done this. She was unsure and I asked about Landon who bullied her continuously.

Is it that same guy?

No, Mav,... I don't think so. He tried apologizing this morning.

Changes nothing! he says dismissively not willing to take any chances.

Once you're feeling better we're going home, you'll no longer be taking lectures in school I said flatly.

But Mav...

No Scarlett!

"Please just let me continue at school, I promise I'll be careful." she pleaded.

However, he was firm in his decision, "Once you're feeling better, you'll be studying at home. I don't want a repeat of this."

Scarlett felt frustrated, "But Beryl, I'm your wife, not a baby!"

Mav responded with anger, "Exactly why I'm doing this! People aren't always as kind and innocent as you. So what if he tried apologizing? Do you think he'd change just like that?"

Scarlett was taken aback by his response and pleaded with him again, "Please just let me continue at school, I promise I'll be careful."

Mav explained his stance, "It's not about you being careful, it's about how they keep doing things to you and you do absolutely nothing about it! I'm not nice, Scarlett. No one messes with me and what belongs to me! I don't mind killing someone if they pick a bone with me. I'd do it in a heartbeat!"

Scarlett was shocked by his admission and tried to speak, "Mav...".

"I'm no angel, Scarlett... I'm the devil in every form! I'll give you one last chance, but if anything goes wrong, I'm pulling you out! I'll be outside, let me know if you need anything!". I said leaving the ward.

Scarlett's Pov

I don't know what he meant by killing without blinking. But... Why is he so furious? He didn't even listen to me, and honestly, I'm a bit terrified by what he said. Landon is just a harmless bully, right? He shouldn't be killed for something so trivial. Mav isn't that cruel right?

AT CASIE'S

The air in the room was tense. Casie, Emily, Chloe, and Blare had been friends since kindergarten, but something had shifted in their group dynamics ever since Casie had found out that Landon, her boyfriend of two years, had been eyeing another girl. This led to Casie's erratic behaviour and impulsiveness.

Cassie sat on the edge of her bed, her eyes fixed on her phone. The others knew she was texting Landon, but they didn't dare intervene. Suddenly, Casie stood up and walked towards Emily, who was sitting by the desk. She took Emily's phone away from her and kept it on the table. Emily looked at her in shock.

"Cas, why did you do that to her?" Chloe asked, breaking the silence that had descended on the room.

"Because she deserved it! Do you know Landon has been giving me a cold shoulder because of that black thing? Can you imagine he's fantasizing about that girl? I'd have to die before he leaves me for that bitch!" Cassie spat, her voice laced with bitterness.

"Cas, trust me, we could get expelled for this, and we are just a few months to graduation. I don't want to lose my good remarks for your pettiness!" Blare said as a matter of fact.

"Are you talking to me, Blare?" Cassie asked, her eyes blazing with anger.

"You do know Blare has a point, right?" Chloe said, trying to diffuse the situation.

"I agree with them, Cas. My parents will kill me if they hear I was involved in something so vile," Emily added, her voice shaking.

"You know what? You can all go to hell for all I care. The last time I checked, one word from me and my parents will never look at your family businesses again!" Casie threatened, her eyes flashing with fury. She then walked into her bathroom, slamming the door behind her.

Cas! ... Emily screamed.

Try me Em! She spat and walked into her bathroom leaving the girls in her room.

Emily felt tears streaming down her face. She couldn't believe her friend had turned on her like this. Chloe put a comforting arm around her, but they both knew that things would never be the same again. Blare looked at them with a sense of resignation before saying her goodbyes and leaving the room. They knew they had to steer clear of Casie, but they also knew that it would be impossible to do so completely. They could only hope they would get out of this mess unscathed.

THE CORRIDOR OF THE

Mav was walking back to Scarlet's ward with his thoughts roaming wildly in his head when Suddenly, a voice cut through his thoughts, bringing him back to reality. He turned to see who it was, and his expression turned sour.

Hi Beryl, she greeted warmly.

Elira! He said with a not-so-amused look on his face.

"What are you doing here?" she asked, putting up a conversation.

"None of your business! " He snapped back, his voice sending chills down her spine as he turned to leave.

Ouch! She said feigning pain. "How's your wife doing?" she asked out of nowhere. Her voice was laced with sarcasm, and it only served to piss him off further.

Turning to look at her, he smirked as he said... "You know... Elira, you might have had a chance with men if you were... Tasty!" he fired back, his gaze piercing hers like he was staring at trash.

Her eyes flared up, and she called him by his name Beryl! He simply smirked and said...

"Don't ask about my wife again!" he warned, turning to leave.

But then, he met Scarlett's gaze, and something about the way she looked at him made him pause. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but it was different.

Before he could say anything though, Elira spoke up again, this time with more venom.

"Maybe what I should ask you is how well she touches you. Or is she as wild in bed as I used to be?" she said, smirking at him.

Mav felt his blood boil. How dare she talk about his wife like that!

"Scarlett..." he called out to her, hoping she wouldn't misjudge things.

But Scarlett didn't say anything. Instead, she shut the door to her ward in his face, leaving him speechless.
