Snow will have to find a way to convince Sable he isn’t going to hurt her, and Sable will have to trust him to keep her safe from her pack Alpha and the rogues he hired to take and hurt her. Along the way, she will discover a truth about her past that will confuse her world even more.

Snow could see the tension in Sable's body as she sat on the table, waiting for the pack doctor to arrive. She kept glancing around, looking at the different instruments and pictures. He got up from a chair and went to stand in front of her. "Relax, I'm here."

She nods, but he could see she wouldn't until this was over.

Finally, the door opened and the doctor came in. He smiled at Sable. "Hello. My name is Nathan. Do you want to tell me why you're here?"

Sable clenched Snow's hand. "I want you to look me over. I want to know I'm okay."

Nathan nodded. "Sable, I need to explain a few things before we begin." He sat in his doctor chair and rolled over so he sat in front of them. "A lot of the tests are easy. Simple things like reflexes and balance. But because of the nature of how you were kept, I am going to do some other tests that will likely be uncomfortable."

"Can Snow stay?" she asked very softly.

"Of course!" Nathan announced. "You are allowed anyone in here as long as you feel safe. Before each test, I will explain how it works and show you the items I use. You are going to tell me yes or no if you are prepared to allow me to do these tests. All of this will be under your control. You have all the power in this room. I will never do anything you don't want and I will stop when you tell me to. Understand?"

Nathan's speech made Sable relax immensely and she nodded. Snow knew she was violated, knew Nathan would likely need to do some things that would make her feel violated, but he knew the doctor was all about the patient. It was one of the things that made him well loved amongst the pack.

"Alright. Let's start with the easy stuff. Can I listen to your heart?"

From the heart and lungs, Sable let him do blood pressure and check her reflexes and balance. She allowed him to take some blood for testing, run his hands along her ribs to make sure none were broken and healed wrong, and checked her eyesight. Snow stayed close, ready to comfort her whenever and however she needed. She always made sure he was in sight.

They were in the tiny room for an hour when Nathan sighed, a grim look on his face. "Sable, here comes the hard part." Sable didn't move, just waited silently. "I need to do a Pap smear."

"What is that?"

"It is where I check your private area for any disease that may have been given to you through your ordeal."

Sable audibly gulped. Snow walked over and sat beside her, wrapping an arm around her. "You can say no at any time, remember?"

"I am scared."

Nathan nods. "I understand. It is scary at first. It is also uncomfortable. But it will likely protect you if we can find them and medicate you."

"Okay. What do I do?"

Nathan handed her a small towel and left, asking her to take off her bottoms. Snow stayed with her, unsure of what all this test involved, but would not let Sable do it alone. Once she was on the table and lying back, Nathan returned. He propped her legs up and apart, making Snow want to growl, but he soon felt a hand in his and focused on his mate. "I'm here," he whispered.

"Can you relax?" Nathan asked from his spot. "This is going to be cold and a little painful, but it will be over soon."

"Why are you so different from your siblings?" Sable asked as a way to distract herself.

"I don't know. I was born with different looks and different personalities."

Sable stiffened, whimpering. "Your fur!" she gasped. "It isn't a pure white. There's something there. Something I can't define."

Snow caressed her face and chuckled. "You're right."

"Almost done," Nathan announced.

"My fur has a little of my mother's hair color in it."

Sable stared at him. "What color is her hair? It looks pink, but shiny."

"It's rose gold. My fur is tinged with it."

She relaxed as Nathan finished. "I like it."

"I'm glad." he smiled. "But I still want you to call me White Wolf. Don't call me Rose Gold Wolf."

She giggled.

Nathan left again as Sable dressed. When he returned, it was with a smile on his face. "We have one more test! It's easy, I promise."

Snow felt dread curl in his stomach. He knew what test Nathan was talking about and was hoping for the best. Sable seemed to know as well because she asked, "How do I do it?"

Five minutes later, they left Nathan's office with the promise of all the results being revealed as they came. They headed to Turk's office now, both wanting to find something to take their minds off the unknown results.

Snow knocked and Turk let them in. Mazelina was there too, sitting on her mate's lap. Snow directed Sable to a couch where they sat together and his parents took the other couch. His parents did not look happy. Mazelina looked to Sable and said, "Sable, can you tell me about your pack? Tell me about how your alpha runs your pack?"

Sable shrugged. "I don't know. I never paid attention. I guess my pack is alright. I mostly went to school or work. My father was my world."

"What about your alpha?"

"He seemed kind, but I had bad feelings around him."

"Has he done anything that might have been cruel or harsh?"

She shrugged again. "I don't know." She looked between Turk and Mazelina. "What's wrong?"

Turk looked to his son and spoke into his head. 'Be prepared to catch her. This could cause a bad reaction.'

Snow tightened his arm around Sable and narrowed his eyes. Mazelina scooted to the edge of the seat and gave Sable a sympathetic smile. "Snow and Turk have come to gain some information. Mostly Turk through his contacts. Your alpha was brothers with the one who took me."

Sable blinked in surprise. "Brothers?"

The luna nodded. "Brothers. At first, it was nothing. There is always bad blood in families and packs, always a chance it didn't infect everyone."

"However, Kenyan also is bad blood," Turk said gently.

"How do you know?"

Snow swallowed. Sable looked to him, sensing he would answer. "He was the one who initiated your torture."

Sable tilted her head. "Alpha Kenyan?" They all nodded. "How do you know?"

"Your father told me when I met him. He was very cautious, always looking around and even took me into a room without cameras."

Sable stilled. "That's how my father found out I was being taken..."

"Sable?" Mazelina encouraged.

"Kenyan has cameras everywhere," she explained, leaning into Snow. "He said they were for protection. But, whenever attacks happened, they somehow were malfunctioning. I didn't understand. They're high tech and very expensive." Her voice quavered. "They had a blackout period when my mother was killed."

Snow held Sable as close as he could, knowing she was hurt. He was as angry as he was when he saw her for the first time. He wanted to rip someone apart. "What does this mean?" he growled at his father.

"It means we have to be careful in how we deal with this." Turk rubbed a hand down his face. "He's an alpha and would likely start a war with us for accusations, bringing other packs into it. We have to make sure we have proof."

"Sable is proof!" Snow snarled.

Turk shook his head. "There are ways to get around what a victim says. 'She wanted it.' 'She begged me to do all those things to her.' 'She blackmailed me into doing it.' All these things are what could be said and used against her."

"What about her father?"

"He could be a very helpful witness, but it takes more than him to convince others of Sable's truth. He would back her up no matter what."

Snow gently put Sable beside him and began to pace the room. He didn't want to hurt Sable in his need to kill Kenyan. He didn't want to accidentally scare her either. "Snow, you need to calm down and think," Mazelina said softly. "You need to have a clear head. Be the strong one for your mate."

This caught his attention and he looked at where his mate was crying with Turk's arms around her. He had to be strong. He had to think. He had to protect her and her father. He had to kill Kenyan, while also setting the alpha up for justice in the eyes of everyone. He was the smartest wolf in his family, the one who observed and waited for the right moment for everything. He would do the same in this.

'Snow?' It was Nathan's voice.

'What's wrong?'

'Will you please bring Sable back to my office? I need to have a talk with both of you. It's urgent.'

'Tell me!' he growled.

There was hesitation. 'She's pregnant.'
