Chapter 7 : Uri

Day 24 (Post-meeting of Awek)

------------------

Ajel looked down , before eating his cereal which consisted of porridge with several berriers that added to the flavour.

The baby Silverwing had finally opened its eyes , and recognized Ajel as it parent , and Noami seemed infatuated by it.

In fact , this was his creation , and something he use to make when he was forced to help the staff make food for the children.

"Big Brother Ajel-"

*Bang*

"Please don't use that name , please." Ajel put on his kind and patient smile , but she had picked a scab that he never wanted to see infection of again.

Noami was a child , and she was raised well. She knew what was good and what was bad, so she simply just stayed quiet.

"Do you want to give a name to it , Noami?" Ajel asked her, which caused her face to lighten up and Awek's serious face to lighten up a bit.

The young child looked incredibly happy , and so she thought hard for around 5 minutes, before saying

"Its name will be Uri!"

Awek's smile widened.

"Of course i can count on my daughter to give a good name."

"What does Uri mean?"

"My flame." Awek said , before laughing and faceplaming. "Noami , how many times have i told you that only dragons could spit flames out of there mouths?"

"I believe Uri can do it! can't you?" She looked to the Silverwing who seemed just as confused as Awek.

"Im sure it will , one day." Ajel said , before shaking his head. "Give it alot of love and I'm sure it will grow to your standards."

"While we are on the topic , your name , apparently it has ties to Freljord culture. A friend of mine here is from Freljord."

"Oh?" Ajel slowly stopped eating his porridge , before replying. "What does it mean?"

"Well , it's up your interpretation. One iteration means a "gift from god" and the second is "death." its up to your iteration of the word."

"My parents probably named me in there last moments , so i think the second meaning is the interpretation , isn't it?" Ajel looked Awek straight into the eye.

"Is that so?" Awek said , before he finished eating his porridge.

"Your cooking skills have improved. Still not good as my wife's."

"With the stories you've told me , that's going to be a hard expectation to meet."

"I think anyone can achieve what they dream of with enough time."

"Even when they are restricted by everything?"

"Even when they are restricted."

Ajel high disagreed with this comment , but he sighed and walked away from the room.

He was sending him messages with other messages in it , but his path has already being chosen by him.

"Sylas.... Sylas the deathbringer." Awek muttered , which caused Ajel to slowly put down the plate.

"Yes."

"15 people killed , a mage gir-"

A plate dropped on the floor , causing Awek's eyes to sharpen.

"I see." Awek clicked his tongue. "I see now."

Ajel sat in silence , before turning around.

"Will they be coming over to Everpeak?"

"They have put a bounty on you." Awek muttered. "They reckon you've fled to Noxus by now."

Ajel stayed in silence.

"As much as i would love to try to show you the light , it seemed you've already chosen this path."

"The path wasn't chosen , it was forced onto me."

"Maybe so , but there's a chance-"

Awek looked deep into the eyes of Ajel , before the latter slowly shook his head.

"There's a difference between being optimistic and foolish."

"There's a difference between being pessimistic and fatalistic." Awek muttered , before shaking his head. "I will help you achieve more power , but you must never use it to take lives of innocents."

Ajel only blankly stared at Awek , before turning in his wheelchair and continuing to do the dishes.

"What type of mage are you?" Ajel muttered.

"I'm not a mage , at least , not anymore."

"Then how are you meant to help me?" Ajel raised his eyebrow , which caused Awek to laugh.

"Help you discover your magic , help you learn some spells that are just useful generally , etc. I could even teach you how to craft magical items if you really wanted me to."

Ajel's eyebrows raised , and a hint of enthusiasm was present in his voice.

"Should i start calling you master?"

"No , that would freak Noami out."

"Fine by me."

"Here's a gift."

Ajel turned around and caught it , before looking at it.

It was a wooden leg , one that was made to look like it would perfectly cover his leg.

"It will take getting use to , but here's a prosthetic leg."

"What's a prosthetic?"

"Something you use after you lose a limb."

"I thought you were meant to use a wheelchair?"

"I'm just that unique." Awek muttered , before shaking his head and laughing.

"I'll leave some things in your room to use to study."

Ajel did the dishes , before he walked into his room , which was on the first floor since he couldn't go up the stairs.

Looking down at his stump , Ajel looked confused with to do with this wooden leg.

Placing it on and sliding it down , he felt it go onto his stump and was ready to move forward.

Slowly placing his foot ahead of him, it immediately slipped and fell on the floor , which caused him to slide backwards and land on his ass.

"Ouch."

Slowly crawling to his bed , he examined the title's of the books he was given.

"History of Runterra." "Introduction to foraging." "Introduction to crafting & alchemy."

and finally a blank book.

This was the first time he had ever seen a book , and it was lucky he even knew how to read , thanks to his hunting mentor.

I wonder how he's doing now?
