Chapter 18 : "Interrogation"

The wooden handcuffs stuck into their wrist of Ajel as he slowly turned his head towards Ashe's quiver and sighed.

"-Arrows made of ice?-" Ajel asked the guard, which caused him to nod.

"-An iceborn-"

Ajel remembered that Elijah gave him a brief description of people who could control ice freely, and there was a rumour that it never melted.

"-Interesting. Are these people rare?-"

"-Only those blessed by the gods can properly control the ice.-"

Ajel only frowned at the vague answer, before shaking his head and staring into the eyes of the woman.

"-What is her name?-"

"- Jarl Sindri-"

There seemed to be some laughter among the warriors, and even the woman snickered a bit.

"-Tell me a bit about yourself, boy. We don't see many Demacians. At least, those who have a full body.-"

"-Im an Orphan exiled out of my homeland. Nothing more, nothing else.-"

"-We should determine that ourselves. Come, we are near to the city.-"

-------------------------

Ajel looked towards the city with a gulp.

It was..... beautiful.

Ice filled the city , one that resembled the one of Sindri's arrows.

The city was huge , alot bigger than Uwendale and the small Everpeak. It was huge , filled with building's with a style that Ajel had never seen before.

However the building's paled compared to the beautiful statue of a large woman , holding a bow woven out of pure ice.

It wasn't art, it was more than that.

It was almost like Ajel was looking at a large person , not some sculpture.

The stairs to the statue had Axe's facing downwards as a decoration , that gave the Statue a almost sense of royalty , almost like they were bowing down to the statue.

Ajel's sharp eyes could pick up hundred's of figures bowing down to the figure thrice , before going away back into the village.

"-It's beautiful.-" Ajel said , as he stared into the mesmerising statue. "-People are bowing?-"

"-It is our Guardian Saint Avorasa.-" The guard saluted to the statue , and the others did the same.

Ajel looked at them weirdly , but did the same.

He did not know who the statue was , but he felt weirdly compelled.

Seeing the others staring at Ajel , Ajel was dumfounded and kept his eyes onto the floor on embarrassment.

Why did he have to do that.....

"-Well , your not a spy from the frostguard , or the winter claw. That is for sure-"

"-What do you mean?-"

"-One can not be a member of one of the sisters and pay respects to another-"

"-The sisters?-"

"-Avarosa, Serylda and Lissandra-"

"-I will need more details-"

"-Worry not , for who your going to see soon will be more than willing to help you... proven innocent that is. Kid , i believe that you are innocent. Don't disappoint me.-"

Ajel got transferred to a wooden cell , of which he laid down on some hay.

After waiting for a hour or two , the cell doors opened and Ajel looked towards the guard and a elderly woman.

"Hello , Young man." The old woman had a kind face , and a warm attitude. Ajel looked over , before his eyes widened in shock.

Demacian?

"Hello , Elder." Ajel gave a polite response , before slightly bowing.

The Elder had green eyes , which stood out from Ajel.

Somebody from Freljord normally never has colour , for what he had heard and saw.

"What brings you to the Freljord , son-"

Ajel sighed , before shaking his head and secretly rubbing his gabella while pretending to scratch his head.

Ajel looked over to the woman , before he saw..... nothing.

no red , no green , no amber.

Nothing.

"I'm a experienced mage , whippersnapper." The Elder said. "The name is Yvonne , and i come from the highlands , just as you do."

"I didn't say i do."

"Your right." Yvonne's eyes opened into slits. "But i know you do."

Ajel felt a shiver down his spine as he got questioned about where he came from , and what faction he was in.

"I see." Yvonne eyes opened. "Your free to go."

"I'm... free to go?" Ajel looked confused , and then suspicious. "It isn't that easy, correct?"

"My magic can detect lies , and you've been truthful." Yvonne said , before opening his wooden cage with a set of keys. "You would of being welcomed if not for the fact that the Avarosans have gone to war with the winter claw."

"I'm sorry Elder, but i don't understand the current politics and geography of the Freljord too well." Ajel apologized , before standing up.

A guard came in and carried his bag , which caused him to sigh in relief.

"Come to my house." Yvonne was a grandma that looked around 70 , and had green eyes and completely grey hair. Her face was round , and she didn't look malnourished in anyway. She looked kind and a warm atmosphere surrounded her.

Ajel nodded his head , following her from behind.

They really let him go , just like that?

shouldn't he have a trial , or go to a more advanced prison?

"You are wrong , the Freljord is a different place from Demacia. That is what get's people like you killed most of the time."

"But elder , i didn't say it outloud."

"I know." Yvonne just smiled , as Ajel's eyes contracted.

She could read minds!

"You could say that." Yvonne muterred , before coming into a fairly large house , which Yvonne opened the door to.

The architect seemed to favour simplicity and effectiveness over design and how much status it would show.

"Come in , i will make some tea." Yvonne muttered , as Ajel walked into the bungalow like house , which he welcomed himself into.

The house was warm and cozy , illuminated by a fireplace in the middle of two armchairs.

The living room was furnished with swords and heads of wild beasts that were collected like trophies.

Ajel's lip twitched seeing these.

Maybe she enjoyed buying things that people hunted?

"No." The voice of Yvonne interrupted his thoughts from the kitchen , causing him to sigh. "I hunted them myself."

Ajel's back was drenched in cold sweat as he slowly sat down on one of the chairs and slowly exclaimed.

"Please. Stop going into my head with my consent. I have a lot of thing's i want to keep to myself , my thoughts one of them."

Yvonne simply laughed and apologized to him , before bringing him a cup full of some tea.

Taking a sip of it , Ajel examined the taste.

Nutty , slightly sweet with a freshness that went down the palate easily.

"It's good."

"Indeed it is." She said , before shaking her head. "Now child, what do you want to know?"
