Rise Of The Shadow Demon

"If I get a second life, I'll never be at anyone's mercy." These were the last words of Ezra Silva, as he was publicly executed, gunned down on public television, for the case of murdering three teenagers.

He was framed, framed by the people he let into his life, the people that he called friends. His friends, who were also his co-workers in the force had done it, they had killed three teenagers who saw them carry out a drug trade, such an act was unacceptable for a cop.

Though he wasn't involved in this, they told him, and he decided to help conceal and bury the crime. He lacked friends as an orphaned kid, so he didn't want to lose those he had now, so he helped them.

But the human heart was evil, his friends planned to make him take the fall, and the more he tried to help them cover-up, the more they had opportunities to doctor false evidence to pull him down.

Soon evidence was gathered against him, so much that there was no way he could escape. No one agreed to aid him reveal the truth, he was arrested and set on death row.

Finally, the day arrived, and as he was tied to the pole to be gunned down, he saw them, his friends, and all the other cops, they were smiling, smiling at him. At that moment he knew why no one agreed to help him, they were in on it, all of them.

Right before he was shot, he heard one of the cops say something in a low tone, but he heard it. "Being too good in this world is a sin."

Those words hit him deeply, scarred him, and woke him to reality. He was a fool, he led a life of goodness, thinking he would be repaid as such, but the direct opposite happened to him.

He had refused to believe the world was cruel when he slept on the streets during cold nights, and people passed by and saw him, he refused to believe that it was cruel when he hungered for food and begged for the crumbs, yet those people would rather it thrown away than give it to him.

He refused to believe, he searched for the hope of light even when he was beaten and robbed by the gangs, after working a whole day and coming out with little to nothing. He hoped, he believed.

Finally, he found his way to the force, he finally had a life, something to hold on to. Yet, it ended in misery, pain, and death. If he refused to acknowledge the evil and cruelty of this world, then he would die the biggest fool to exist.

As his consciousness slowly faded away, going into the light, a incomprehensible rage filled his heart, anger and hate. That anger paved the way for the shadow to reach him.

"Do you want a second chance?"

Ezra heard a voice out of nowhere, he panicked, but then remembered he was dead, so why should he be scared of anything?

"What are you?" He asked.

"Something you need if you want to have another chance, and also become great." The voice said.

Ezra's attention was caught when he heard second chance, could he live again?

"Can I go back to earth? Can I live again?" He asked in anticipation.

"Yes you can, but not earth. If you returned there you would be killed once more, or trapped for research. My power could help you grow, but you need time to learn it, but those humans would kill you before you get the chance to."

"So what do you mean?" He asked.

"A new world, a new life, a new journey." The voice said. "I will send you to a new world, a world that is different from yours in many ways, all you have to do is accept the power that I offer you."

Ezra was skeptical, he had watched movies of things like this, and they never end well, so he wasn't sure if he should do this, but after some thought, he asked one question that would determine his yes or no.

"The power you give me, will it enable me destroy my enemies?" He asked.

"Grow the power, and you will defeat even gods."

"That's good enough for me, what do you want in return? My soul?" Ezra asked.

"Don't worry about that, just accept it." The voice said.

"Fine, I accept your power," Ezra said, and immediately, a black shadowy tendril entered him, as soon as it entered, he blanked out, yes, a soul blanked out.

Ezra was woken up by the sound of a notification, his eyes opened to see a blue holographic screen in front of him.
