CHAPTER 31

　　Stefan

　　I got up from my chair and walked towards the exit, leaving Derek alone in the bar. I wanted to be good to him and help him stabilize, but I received nothing in return. All he caused were problems.

　　"Sara, don't pay him any mind," I said.

　　"Why are you with Derek?" she demanded to know.

　　"Something happened. Kara is in the hospital. She had a health problem. They sedated her, and we're waiting for her to wake up. The doctors say she's okay, but she's asleep. We'll know how she feels later."

　　"So, if she's fine, why are you there? Stefan, you took hours, and you couldn't send me a message. Do you know how worried I was about you? You could have called to let me know."

　　"I don't want to fight now, Sara."

　　"You should explain to me what your brother said."

　　"Don't listen to him. He's a liar. You know he hates me. He said it to make us fight."

　　"I don't believe you," she replied.
