The Vancouf family didn't just settle with what they gained so far. Instead, they started to expand their business, linking more places to here, even spending lots of wealth to build up gold grade and even dark gold grade portals.
William didn't find any surprise in that. Once the ball rolled, things would be much easier later on. And yet he still admired her ancestors. Anyone else would just lay back, enjoy the cosy life they got, and not tire themselves about doing anything else.
When he asked about the reason behind all this, she explained that her great grandfather found in the ruins a very useful system to run successful families and grand businesses. Any Vancouf family's new generations had to compete among each other. The winner would take everything, control the vast and excessively massive conglomerate of that family. As for losers, they'd return and lock themselves inside their homes, getting their share of the wealth without the need to do anything else.
