The First Terror Mission [2]

Getting out of the forest toward the fortress, Aisam managed to catch up to the line of people and saw the boy's donkey was only standing in the same while the line of people in front of it had already gotten vacant.

He quickly stood beside it took its leash, and started walking forward behind the line up of two people with carts of farming goods who remained.

After waiting for about 10 minutes, "Next person, step ahead!" one of the guards said, his turn arrived, and he stood in front of two guards.

They both wore silver armor and helmets designed with blue and white colors to fit the main colors of the flag of the empire of Dynasteia and with a few different designs to fit their genders and the size of their body.

On the left side of the chest on their armor was the insignia of the city of Mathema which looked like a magician holding a book in his hand while standing and a swordsman holding the tip of his sword on the ground, both standing next to each other looking ahead, and the insignia was surrounded by a pentagram (five-pointed star).

The male guard gazed at him and his donkey for a moment, then asked with a serious face, "Show your Pass Permit?"

Aisam remained silent for a second as he still didn't know anything about the intricacies of this world and its systems, "My Pass Permit?!" Aisam thought then an assumption came to his mind.

"Maybe that boy has put it somewhere in his bags or between his belongings," he thought then turned around looking in the bags strapped on the donkey.

After opening the first bag, he tried to look for anything similar to a pass permit, and reaching his hand at the end of the bag, he saw a wooden card with a big symbol looking like a traveling merchant and a horse surrounded by a circle etched on one side, and 3 signatures on the bottom of the other side of the wooden card, and simple characteristics on top.

Getting the pass permit, he swiftly handed it over to the male guard, and Aisam held it in his hand inside his cloak.

The guard examined the pass permit's information for a few seconds, then gave it back to Aisam without saying anything, except intending to ask another question instead.

"State, What's your purpose for coming to the city of Mathema, and where's your destination?" The male guard asked with a serious face.

"Well, isn't it obvious? He's a farmer and has traveled to the city with his goods, it's the weekend, and tomorrow is gonna be the next week so people will want to stock up, and sales will probably rise at the end and start of the week," Aisam thought then continued locking eyes with the guard, "I want to sell and trade my goods to the local markets," Aisam said.

The guard stared at him for a moment then nodded, "Do you have a weapon?" he said.

"Do I not get in trouble I tell them? No, it's a medieval era probably, and carrying normal weapons should be common," he thought then continued, "I only have a dagger," Aisam said as he pushed aside his cloak showing his dagger on his waist.

"Ok, everything is fine," the guard said as he nodded, "I just have to check your goods and belongings briefly," he said as he inspected his bags one by one for about 2 minutes, "You can go right now," the guard said as he stepped aside opening his way to enter the city.

...

"Phew, I thought I was in trouble for a minute," Aisam muttered, sighing in relief as soon as he entered the city and the gate closed behind him.

Looking up he could see a lot of bustles and hear a lot of noise with many merchants, travelers, and farmers who had already set up market stalls, and some were walking around moving from shop to shop on both sides trying to sell, buy or trade their goods, while some people were just new to the city looking around with wonder.

"I gotta move to a corner!" Aisam muttered as he put on his hood, and started quickly walking forward pulling the donkey until he reached a dark alley between two tall buildings, far away from the eyes and ears of others.

He then hastily sifted through the bags, threw away all the stuff he didn't want, and only kept a satchel where he put the things that seemed useful or he wanted.

He shouldered the satchel, then moved behind the donkey, "I'm sorry for this, you served me well in this short time," Aisam said as he aimed at the donkey's ass and kicked it which made it run madly from the dark alley towards the streets.

"Nova, change my hair back to the original," Aisam said.

[OK, just a moment.]

[It's done.] Nova said immediately as his hair turned back to silver-white while his body remained like his model.

The donkey's rampage caused the distraction of the crowd and was injuring some ordinary people while it was at it.

Some guards saw it and started moving hurriedly towards the commotion, Aisam taking the opportunity, ran swiftly out of the alley from the incident towards the tallest building which could be seen from everywhere in the city, the highest building inside the Eldrin Academy and city of Mathema.

Getting far enough from the commotion where nothing could be heard, Aisam slowed down, and took a sigh of relief, "Phew, that was the first thing that came to my mind about how to gid rid of that creature... if you ignore the killing which came first but I didn't want to do that to it without any actual reason," Aisam said.

He was standing leaning back on a wall in the gap between buildings and was trying to take a short rest.

Looking around, he could see a few inns and taverns on the other side a bit far from each other, a few different workshops behind and left, and to his right, there was a large tall building designed with green and white colors, with a name etched on top of its door, 'Adventurers Guild'.

"I remember this one," Aisam muttered, then instantly averted his gaze from it, and decided to focus on the mission at hand.

"I need to gather a bit more information and then decide on how should I infiltrate the Academy," Aisam thought then recalled something he forgot because of being too focused.

"Nova, did I complete the mission?" Aisam said to Nova through his mind.

[Yes, I didn't want to distract you with the notification so I put it on hold.]

"Thanks for the consideration," Aisam said, "Can you show it now?"

[Of course.]
