The Lazy Kid

Matthew, who just scarred a herd of deers for life, is currently cleaning his claws from the deers' blood by the lake. He wasn't afraid that the crocodile would jump at him since with his eyesight, he could easily notice the dark shade under the water if it was coming for him.

As for the deers, Matthew purposely ambushed the deers when they were quite a distance from the lake for exactly this reason, to keep them away from the thieving crocodiles. And with the wolves gone too, who's gonna steal Matthew's prey?

Prior to Matthew cleaning his body that was dirtied by blood, he also found something interesting regarding his aura ability.

When he first went onto the lakeside to clean his body from the blood shower, Matthew hadn't turned off his aura ability yet to see what he looked like right now. Matthew expects that his complete invisibility should already be gone because he was sprayed with a huge amount of blood and the blood should have been sticking to his body and revealed his true position.

But when he came up to the lakeside to see his reflection, Matthew was surprised to see that he is still completely invisible to the eye and none of the red blood can be seen hindering his invisibility.

Marveled to see that his ability is even more incredible than he thought, Matthew decided to run a quick simple test while his body was still covered by the deers' blood.

Matthew tried to scrape off the blood from his claws and see if the blood droplets would also disappear, but alas, the moment the blood left Matthew's body, it lost its invisibility as Matthew could see it dripping by seeing the reflection on the lake.

'I guess it's not that unreasonable, if my ability could even make external objects disappear then…'

Just thinking about the possibilities and tens of ways Matthew could use his aura ability right now when he only knows how to apply the invisibility to himself. If Matthew's aura ability is capable of also affecting other objects outside his body, those tens of ways may turn into hundreds of ways for Matthew to utilize his aura ability.

'Thank God that I didn't curse out loud and ask for a refund when I first got this ability.'

It's not like God can just give him a refund or change the chameleon's exclusive aura ability just for Matthew, but Matthew is still happy that he didn't piss off the ability creator by cursing it out loud.

Back to the present, Matthew had finally finished cleaning the blood off from his body and he also had deactivated his aura ability since he finished with his experiment.

Matthew also noticed that as he was turning off his aura ability, the glowing of the white orb had dimmed more significantly compared to before when he only practiced turning them on and off.

At first, the glowing white orb was glowing dazzlingly and this afternoon, it has dimmed slightly but it is still as bright as the full moon that is currently giving its light to the forest, but right now, the glow has dimmed that it's only as bright as a new moon.

'Maybe I activated the ability too early and wasted my aura when I was waiting for the perfect time to ambush the deers. I guess I need to work on improving my timing.'

Matthew then thought of another possibility why he consumed a lot more aura than before,

'Or maybe it cost me more aura when I used them to fight since the aura has to keep up with me moving all over the place and also maybe hiding the blood that was splattered to me cost more aura too? System, do you have any answer regarding this?'

'System didn't possess the data to answer host's question. System advises the host to experiment and get used to using the aura to get the answer to host's question.'

'Yeah right, thank you as always.'

Although that kind of answer from the system always gave Matthew a feeling of annoyance since it feels like the system is reminding him to not be a lazy kid and wanted everything to be spoon-fed to his mouth, Matthew can't get angry since the system is true and the fact that he wanted to get even more assistance to make his easy life right now even easier is something that he didn't want to admit for himself.

But even Matthew himself didn't realize that he is currently living an easy life compared to the other animals just like the one back on earth, who don't have Matthew's wits and they are forced into a position where they can't escape the rules of nature and aren't able to change their fate.

Just like the boars and the deers who can only explore the entire forest to find their food. And they can only defend themselves from a predator's attack such as the wolves or the crocodiles, without having the option to have their revenge when one of them is brutally killed because their instincts didn't include feelings such as revenge or other emotions that are similar to what a human has.

But the difference between this world and earth is one thing, the animals in this world are capable of changing their fate when they are strong enough. With the evolution system, the animals living here will get stronger the more times they evolve.

And when a boar that had evolved 3 times met a wolf that only evolved once, the clear winner is the boar that has more upgrades and improvements to its body from the previous evolutions.

But evolutions are not easy, you have to kill stronger animals than you and when an animal reaches a higher level, the difficulties to level up and reach the evolution requirement will be exponentially harder.

But even most animals didn't really understand the concept of leveling up and evolving when they are first born in this world since their intelligence prevented them from doing so. Only by keeping on evolving and reaching greater heights where their intelligence will also reach a higher level for them to realize the importance of leveling up and evolving.

But alas, they are not the only ones who wanted to evolve and competition with other animals also exists where the strong eat the weak, and a lot of animals fail to evolve enough before they are killed by other animals.

Matthew, who wasn't aware of all this, still thinks that his current life where he needs to hunt, kill, and secure his own food is hard. Even though God already gave him a system and a special evolution to help him along the way.

'Alright then, what should I do with the deers? Should I eat them all or save one to be the crocodile bait tomorrow?'

After thinking about what he should do going forward, Matthew decided that before he planned to do anything else, he wanted to finish his business with the crocodiles.

Matthew was forced to postpone his revenge since he could only deal with the crocodiles using petty tricks such as borrowing the spider's venom by using the spider's head.

But now, he has already evolved twice since then. He already had his own venom which is supposedly more potent than the common wandering spider's venom. Matthew's body is also four times bigger compared to his body when he first defeated the level 12 Porosus Crocodile, and he now also had the wolve's sharp teeth and jaw strength.

Even though the biting force is not as strong as the crocodile's, the wolf's biting strength and sharp teeth are far better than Matthew's original chameleon's mouth and teeth.

And with all of that, Matthew is quite confident in his current strength to defeat the crocodiles.

Matthew didn't know the exact number of crocodiles that lived in the lake, but he already set a goal that he will at least take down 4 of them since there are 4 crocodiles that had stolen his kill back then.

Even if there are still 10 more crocodiles, Matthew won't have any grudges against them since he had his revenge, and there is also the fact that he may not be able to deal with 10 crocodiles.

'Speaking of crocodiles, what is their aura ability? Do they even have them? For the wolves, their alpha is the only one that can use aura ability, but for the boars, each of them can use their own.'

'If they have the same evolution perks as me, then they should be able to use their aura ability when they reach level 10 right? But why are the other wolves who are above level 10 didn't have their own aura ability? System, do you know why?'

'The requirement for using the aura ability is first, a creature has to unlock the aura pathway and second, they have to learn how to manipulate the aura.'

'Although the process is ingrained in their animals' instincts, they still have to learn them on their own. For the cases that host had inquired about, it is probably because they only unlocked their aura pathway from the evolution, but they still haven't succeeded in manipulating their aura.'

'That makes sense, thank you system.'

After thinking about how he will proceed with his hunt yesterday, Matthew decided to just see what will happen tomorrow and just do the minimal planning, and if there are some unknown variables, he can just use his aura ability to retreat.

'For now, let's not waste the deers' sacrifice and respect them by eating them fresh.' Matthew said in his mind before he went to feast on the deers' bodies.
