[Bonus chapter]Defending The Kobold Village (4)

A few minutes before chaos descends onto the human army, an invisible creature behind the army is currently busy walking cautiously towards the human army.

The invisible creature is about a head shorter than average humans, and its body is similar to a human with 1 head, 4 limbs, 2 hands and 2 feets, 5 fingers on its hand, and 4 toes on its feet.

If anyone could see the invisible creature, then they would've noticed that the creature looked a lot like the kobolds that were standing opposite to the human army.

With the kobold's characteristic head that looked very similar to a wolf's head and the claws on their limbs, the invisible creature also had all those characteristics except one glaring difference which is the absence of fur on the invisible creature's body.

Instead, the creatures have scutes very similar to a crocodile's covered the creature's back, and softer, tidier, and lighter-colored scales covered the creature's front side.

But even with such flashy appearance that surely stands out, no other creature, both the humans and the kobolds are able to see the creature that is now standing right beside a human soldier on the edge of the human's formation, and silently watched the leader of the humans giving a battle speech to its soldiers to rile up the soldiers' morale to massacre the whole kobold village.

"Men of Felidae Kingdom! Today we will conquer this village and give it to the second prince as he started his grand conquest to conquer this forest! Fear not as this battle had already been settled the moment we set our foot here! This will be an easy morning warm-up that will bring us merits that the second prince will remember. Do well in this morning exercise as your effort securing a temporary base for the expedition will be remembered and rewarded!" The leader of the human army said.

'Well, now I know the translation function that the system has worked really well. But that speech is really rude and very disrespectful to say.' Matthew thought as he heard the battle speech.

But seeing that the human soldiers' morale does go up and even a slight of fear is nonexistent on the humans' faces, Matthew then said,

'But it sure works like a charm. I guess humans really liked bullying the weak no matter which world it is.'

Matthew had come down from the tree branch that he used to scout the human army earlier and very carefully approached the human army by tiptoeing on his feet and avoided as many sticks and dry leaves as possible when he followed the human army to the clearing in front of the entrance of the kobold village.

And now with his chameleon aura ability fully activated, he was able to stand still beside a human foot soldier on the rightmost of the swordsman-archer formation without a single soul in the vicinity noticing his whereabouts.

Matthew had decided to make an impactful experience for the human army and hence the reason why he didn't attack the human army immediately even though the humans had completed their battle formation.

Matthew stayed still and silent as he saw the young human leader lift up his sword and commanded the others to draw out and prepare their weapons for battle.

And being so close to the human army, even Matthew felt that the sounds of at least tens of swords being drawn out of their scabbards simultaneously is one of a kind sound that is slightly intimidating, but yet exciting as it reminded him of colossal war movies that he watched on cinemas back when he was still a human.

But Matthew had another agenda being there and admiring the sound that the swords made was not what he wanted to do. Matthew kept his eyes on the commander of the humans, and as the commander inhaled a lot of air into his lungs and shouted,

"Men...CHARGE!"

Just before the man shouted the word 'charge' Matthew had already charged on his own as he started running towards the nearest human and used his right claw to swipe the soldier's right leg as hard as he could, cutting straight to the man's bone where it gave a slight resistance before also breaking apart by the force of Matthew's attack.

With his claws that are sharp and tough enough to even cut through the tough level 22 bear muscles, the ordinary human soldier who is only level 10 on average, even some of them is still on level 8 or 9, and along with humans' physique that is naturally weaker than the beast, Matthew is capable of achieving such feat.

But Matthew didn't stop on the first soldier as he continued to run and swiped his claws everywhere he went, clawing left and right as he ran between the first and second line of the foot soldiers that carried swords on their hands.

His claws swiped through a lot of arms and legs as Matthew didn't know whether his claw swipe would be enough to go past the human steel plate armor or the chainmail that protected most of their upper body. And with Matthew's stature that is shorter than them, attacking their legs is not a hard feat as Matthew only needed to bend over slightly while he ran through the line of humans.

Not knowing what had happened, even with their swords drawn out, they could only look at their screaming comrade and didn't even know what happened until they suddenly felt the severe pain on their own leg and started to scream along with their comrade.

While Matthew continued his hit-while-run attack, his victims, the humans that had their legs broken through their bones and are currently only half-attached to their bodies, and along with a few 'lucky' ones that got their hands attacked instead of their legs are screaming using all the air inside their lungs as they felt severe pain on their bodies out of nowhere and accompanied with their comrade's scream, the situation becomes more and more chaotic as more screams can be heard coming from the foot-soldiers section.

The young lieutenant, who was leading the troops, had already put all his attention onto the soldiers as he heard the first soldier's scream. But noticing something and reacting to it is a whole different matter. Only after about half, the people on the first two lines were plopping down on the ground with blood flying everywhere that he reacted and muttered,

"What is happening…"

The lieutenant could clearly see that his soldiers started screaming one by one before falling onto the ground clutching either their legs or their arms as blood continued to flow out of their limbs. And from the amount of blood spilled onto the ground, the lieutenant could see that the wounds is so deep that small pools of blood had already formed on the ground.

Despite seeing most of his soldiers bathing in their own blood and their comrade's blood without even being able to do anything, he couldn't even see who and what had attacked them.

After finishing running straight through the first line, Matthew continued straight through the human army and went to the horsemen on the left side of the army as he thrust his claws onto one side of the horse's belly and dragged them to the other side of the belly as he ducked under the horse's belly while continued running.

Finding that ducking under the horse belly is troublesome and decreased his speed a lot, Matthew changed his strategy as he ran in a zig-zag while he swiped his claws to one of the horse's necks causing the horse to jump up and throw the soldier on top of its body down before continuing to the other horses as he attacked the horses' front body to make them jump up and drop the humans on top of them.

Matthew continued rampaging around the human army and wherever he went, blood and screams followed as the human army couldn't even see what attacked them.

Some of the smarter humans noticed their attacker was moving in a straight line and anticipated the attack by shifting their bodies towards their comrades who had already screamed and fell down to the ground as they brought up their swords in front of them using both of their hands to protect themselves.

But who would've thought that some of them suddenly felt their hands that were holding the sword were shoved upward causing their sword to go past their heads, almost stabbing themselves with it.

And in the next moment, they already felt their leg hurting so much that they couldn't help but scream and drop their swords as they clutched their leg that had a claw mark so deep that it reached their bones.

Some of the unlucky ones even got their bones sliced as they could see that their leg is barely sticking to their bodies and blood literally bursting out of the sliced part of their leg.

Only three minutes had passed since the first scream was heard and a quarter of the human army had already fallen into total chaos as one-fifth of the humans in the main formation had already fallen and crippled and half of the horsemen on the left side of the formation had already fallen from their horses and their horses were even doing worse as they are the one who is being crippled by the attacker.

The young lieutenant had already broken out of his gaze and realized that he had been moving backward unconsciously along with his horse and he was already about 10 meters away from the slaughter that was happening in front of him.

"WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE!?" He shouted.

Thank you for reading this novel!

And please keep on supporting the novel~

Well, I am just trying out the "summoning pen" thing and I guess this is more like a regular chapter rather than a bonus chapter (?)
