Chapter 36

I couldn't shake off the disbelief and shock of the possibility that the cloaked figure could be a dragon kin.

However, I reasoned that the reincarnation god wouldn't deceive me, leading me to believe that this person might be a lesser variant such as Wyverns, Wyrm, or even a lizard man Demi human.

But all this didn't matter now as I had also gained some clarity on who the god was, that we met earlier today.

It was none other than Erebus. This cloaked figure confirmed my suspicion. I mean his name was closest to Eren that I could think of.

After stopping my attack the cloaked figure picked up the man with red hair by the collar while muttering some words.

"You piece of shit you almost died, now the plan has more variables with me exposed" he said not trying to conceal his rage.

I did not know if this was false information or he was just stupid. The mysterious figure then turned to me and spoke.

"Tsk, too bad I can't kill you yet. That doesn't mean I can't hurt you" the cloaked man said.

After he spoke, the last thing that I saw was a blur coming towards my chest. I quickly crossed my hands in defence with my fast reflexes.

*Crunch*

The sound of scales and bone breaking could be heard. The girls from the Astraea couldn't even react in time to aid me.

This mysterious person was at least level 5 or 6. The force that struck me sent me flying into the distance, crashing into trees, rocks and dirt.

The cloaked figure was going to end the girls when the sound of reinforcement coming towards our direction could be heard.

"Tsk, until next time" said the red haired man being held by the cloaked figure as they quickly retreated along with some other evilus.

Alise wanted to chase but Kaguya stopped her. Alise still wanted to go before Kaguya talked her down.

"Can you beat that cloaked person" Kaguya asked.

"No". Alise said in reply.

"We couldn't even beat that red haired bastard and you want to chase. We haven't even checked on Draco that was sent flying somewhere. This might also be a trap so get yourself together" Lyra said supporting Kaguya. Taking a moment Alise realized that they were right and backed down.

Soon the members of the other group arrived as reinforcement. The first group then decided to go search for Draco.

"Uugh" I groaned as I struggled to get up. The punch nearly killed me. My body felt sore and heavy. I wasn't sure how much damage was done to me but I was glad that I was alive at least.

I struggled not to lose consciousness from the amount of pain being transmitted through my entire body.

'My hands might be broken' I thought as I managed to sit up with my back resting on a tree.

Removing the partial transformation on my body seemed to have helped reset my bones. But my muscles were aching in pain.

The sound of a group of people approaching me drew my attention. My hands couldn't move and I hadn't been able to open my bag to drink an elixir much less draw any runes.

I struggled to get up and perked my tail to fend against my potential assailants. I felt pain all around my body but I had to survive and mustered some strength to barely stand.

Relief washed over me as it was just Alise, Kaguya and Lyra. I could spot them from afar with my heightened senses and called them towards my location.

I fell back down, waiting on them to arrive at my location. I still didn't let my guard down, in case there were still evilus around. They ran towards my location to see if I was ok.

"Draco, how is your injury??" Alise asked.

"I have already set my bones, just need one of you to grab me an elixir from my pouch" I replied.

Well my potions could be broken but no liquid leaked from the bag so I believed they survived somehow.

Kaguya and Lyra then walked up to me. They then checked my body to access my injuries and see if my bones were truly set, while Alise opened the bag and fed me some elixir.

Soon my hands felt a bit alive. I quickly drew a water rune and kept casting 'mending waters' on my body until it felt somewhat normal again.

"So what happened after I was taken out" I said.

"Sigh, the evilus all retreated, we didn't give chase as I thought it might be a trap" Kaguya said.

"That was the right decision. That cloaked figure was probably a level 5 or 6, we would have been slaughtered if they didn't retreat" I said in reply.

I wanted to ask if they saw the full features of the cloaked person, but it was not likely. Unless the cloaked figure wanted to be seen.

"Did any of you see the cloaked figures face" I asked anyway.

"No" they replied in unison.

"Ok then let's return and take care of the aftermath" I said as we left to regroup with the others. I drank some mind and stamina potions to be in decent shape in case of another attack.

The 18th floor was a grim sight after the battle, with blood soaking its floors and walls. Death had left its mark, claiming the lives of many.

The air was heavy with sorrow as survivors mourned the loss of loved ones and the tragedy that unfolded.

The aftermath of the conflict was a haunting reminder of the price of war with the evilus and the devastating toll it takes on those caught in its path.

The survivors would probably never forget the horrors of today but will still have to live with it. The evilus need to need to be eradicated at all cost or this would be repeated once again.

After everything we went back to the surface and separated after I picked up Bahamut. It had been an exhausting day in the dungeon.

I never expected that my first dive to the 18th floor would be like this. I needed to get stronger as I didn't want to feel the way I felt today again.

Arriving home, I called for a familia meeting to address what happened in the dungeon today. I didn't hold back in the description of the events that transpired.

It scared some of my familia members but I assured them that we would make it through this.

After that, I dismissed them and went with Bahamut's towards her room to asked about the feeling that I got from the cloaked figure.

"I didn't say much about the cloaked figure to the others but I felt that his aura was similar to ours but not at the same time" I said while briefly explaining all that I heard from him and things that I noticed.

"Sigh, how do I describe this. Guess it's time to release some information" Bahamut said. It looked like she knew what I was talking about and was thinking about how to explain it to me.

"Hmm, you are what we call a true dragon kin. Your kind went extinct a long time ago but a new variant claiming to be dragon kin popped up" Bahamut paused then continued.

"They were similar in certain aspects to the real ones but lacked the originals full features and the abilities a real dragon kin would posses. Worst of all they all resembled something like a dungeon monster".

"With those kind of features, they were heavily discriminated against but later, they were accepted as a Demi human race because they proved to rival the various species in intelligence. They were later accepted and called Dragon kin's too".

"After several centuries they once again disappeared until now that you mentioned it. Most mortal records portray both the real and fake as the same thing but maybe some still know the truth"

Bahamut said in a very serious and cryptic tone. She knew much more but wasn't willing to tell. It seemed that she would only talk if I discovered something myself.

'This was complicated, just what the hell did the reincarnation god do' I thought as everything was just one big mess.

"What about the person that told you that I was your fated one" I asked.

"Sorry can't say" she replied. This confirmed my suspicions. The person she wasn't able to disclose, was either a higher god/goddess or a someone very close to her.

This world may hold a much bigger secret that I knew from the series.

"Thank you for the information Bahamut sama" I said.

"Your not angry" she said while looking at me straight in the eyes.

"No, you probably are doing it for my safety and sworn to secrecy or something, so why would I be angry at you" I said. It was true, being angry at her wouldn't solve anything and I had way bigger problems currently.

As they say what you don't know cannot hurt you mentally at least. 'Future me will handle it'.

"I wouldn't care about it if I didn't see one of these fake dragon kins with the evilus" I said to which she smiled.

"Thank you, just get stronger reasonably of coarse and you will get through this" she said, while she brought me into a hug. I smiled and reciprocated the hug.
