In an instant, Jason had neutralized the three heroes; each fell with just one punch, leaving the onlookers utterly stunned.
Wherever Jason's gaze landed, the adventurers quickly averted their eyes, too fearful to meet his stare. No one had anticipated such a vast disparity in strength amongst the heros. At that moment, it became painfully clear: in comparison to Jason, Motoyasu, Ren , and Itsuki were mere children being bullied.
"What's the matter? Didn't you just threaten to attack me a moment ago?" Jason taunted, casting a scornful glance at the adventurers who had flocked alongside the three fallen heroes.
Despite his provocation, not a single adventurer dared to speak up, each effectively tucking their heads in like frightened quails. Unlike the seemingly oblivious guests, they understood that the issue wasn't simply that the three heroes were weak; it was that Jason was overwhelmingly powerful—so much so that they couldn't fathom being his opponents.
And it was evident that he had grown even stronger since his battle with the Zombie General. Though they had observed his earlier fight, they could scarcely comprehend how he could now unleash blows with such speed and ferocity that he had become a blur to their eyes.
"How is he achieving such a terrifying growth rate?" The question weighed heavy on every adventurer's mind, yet no answer was forthcoming.
"Such worthless trash… You think you can stand against the disaster wave? It's simply a delusion," Jason sneered, his voice dripping with unmasked contempt.
The adventurers around him flushed with a mix of embarrassment and fear, yet none dared to argue against his harsh words. They lowered their gazes to the floor, wishing they could disappear into the ground itself.
"Jason, you'll pay for this!"
Suddenly, Myne's voice pierced through the tension of the hall. She wielded wind magic, clearly intending to ambush Jason. But just as she gathered the energy to launch her attack, she froze.
"You..."
Myne's eyes widened in horror, pupils dilating in shock as she felt a sword pierce through her back. Glancing down, she saw blood beginning to drip onto the ground beneath her.
Turning her head slowly, she met the gaze of Raphtalia, who stood behind her with a cold resolve.
"Anyone who dares to harm Lord Jason will meet their end!" Raphtalia declared, her voice steely as she withdrew her sword, blood splattering across the floor.
"No... it can't be... I will not die at the hands of these dirty demihumans. I am the first princess of this kingdom. I refuse to die," Myne cried, collapsing to the ground as her strength ebbed away.
With both hands pressing against her wound, tears streamed down her face as she looked around in desperation, pleading, "Who... who will save me? I don't want to die yet!"
But despite her cries, no one dared step forward after witnessing the bloodied sword in Raphtalia's hand. Fear of their own mortality held them in place.
"Myne! My daughter, come back! No! Someone save her! Damn Shield Hero, lunatic demihumans, capture them!"
The king's voice suddenly echoed through the hall as he pushed through the crowd in a frenzy.
Moments later, the sound of marching footsteps broke through the tension as row upon row of soldiers, fully armed, lined up before the gathered crowd.
Several men in black robes rushed forward to assess Myne's condition, quickly transporting her aside while frantically pouring healing potions and casting spells to restore her.
Meanwhile, the remaining soldiers formed a tight formation, advancing toward Jason and Raphtalia with a threatening demeanor.
"Raphtalia, stay behind me," Jason ordered, aware that facing this number of soldiers directly would be difficult for her.
"Yes!" Raphtalia replied without hesitation, slipping behind Jason for protection.
"That Shield Hero, not only did he steal my ring, but he has also harmed Myne in such a despicable way! I will ensure you pay dearly for this, Jason!" the king seethed, clenching his fists as he glared at Jason, teeth gritted in rage.
If the pope were present, he would likely be laughing heartily while lamenting the tragic usefulness of the king's knife. It was ironic, really—here was a king, kept in the dark and outmaneuvered, who now sought to consume Jason's flesh and drink his blood in a desperate bid for power.
As the king issued his orders, the soldiers pressed in once more. The front row hefted massive long shields, while those behind them brandished long spears, forming a formidable phalanx. To any ordinary person, such an array could easily shatter morale, instilling dread in even the most courageous.
However, Jason merely smiled slightly. "You think you can kill me just because of this? It would be far too condescending. Or perhaps the military strength of this country is truly pitiable."
The reality was that most of the army had been taken away by the queen, leaving the king with only a handful of troops at his disposal.
Yet the king remained overconfident in his soldiers. "Hmph! You might escape here for now, but talk all you like; I'll see you brought down!"
"Kill! Kill! Kill!" A rallying cry erupted from the soldiers, their energy surging.
"Escape? Why would I run? You should kneel down before me!" Jason declared, transforming his shield into the Zombie General Shield.
"Suppress!!!"
His muscles bulged, increasing his height and power. Raising the shield high, he brought it crashing down like a war god, slamming the Zombie General Shield into the soldiers before him.
The soldiers experienced a weight they couldn't comprehend, an overwhelming pressure flooding toward them. The front line hastily crouched, lifting their giant shields to absorb the impact.
But when the two collided, a thunderous crash rang out as their shields shattered into fragments on the spot.
The moment the shields broke, a gust of force exploded outward, shattering windows throughout the hall one by one. The soldiers, not only thrown off balance but completely overturned, found their feet flailing in the air as chaos unfolded around them.
With a single blow, hundreds of soldiers had been thoroughly incapacitated. Jason felt a wave of satisfaction wash over him.
He raised his shield again. "Suppress!!!"
The same skill unleashed again sent shockwaves through the disarrayed formation. The soldiers, already reeling, began to spew blood as if a mountain was crushing them down, rendering them unable to rise from where they lay.
"What a bunch of trash!" Jason scoffed, ignoring the lowly soldiers who had lost all semblance of combat efficacy. He stepped right over them, making his way directly to the king.
"W-What do you want..." the king managed to stammer, his backbone still somewhat intact despite the fear coursing through him. He didn't beg for mercy nor did he shy away, but his voice trembled in evident terror.
"What are you talking about?" Jason said, his smile widening just slightly.
Just as the king was about to respond again, Jason delivered a sharp slap across his face.
"Crack~~~"
The sound of the slap reverberated through the hall, and with the force of it, the king was sent flying, crashing against the throne at the far end of the room.
