Unwanted Drama

From what I've gathered so far, the people that we replace in this world, were indeed their own characters. This world… it ran before we were sent here. Therefore, there was once a person that I am replacing, and also Jonathan is replacing someone else too.
However, somehow, these people, all of them disappeared. They aren't here. I don't know if the trial itself made us replace them, and these people were simply… taken somewhere else or.
Something else happened to them, did they die? A death that cannot be reversed even by the loop?
The Nightmare Demon said there were many faces that replaced my character, that means that there were many that took upon this character.
The same goes with Jonathan, Lucifer and Nyx, and so on…
Jonathan and I are indeed in a relationship, but within the context of this story, are we? The characters we replace… is it really good to talk in their behalf?
