Eric was shocked. Well, the priest wasn't shocked because of the amazing power of his companion. He already seemed to know that this guy was a monster from the get-go. And this reason was the Vampires!
Eric… I don't know anything about him, but he seems to not have seen Vampires before. He felt fearful of their very presence, unlike the bold and strong Leon, who seemed fearless against death. He was more of a "normal" human, so he felt fear when he saw what he saw. Not going to lie. I would also shit myself if I saw three Vampires. But well, I am a ghost, so I didn't.
