CHAPTER START---
---Nara House...
Shikaku sat at the side of the shogi board watching the game. Shikamaru and Jin sat across from each other playing shogi as they usually do. Naruto and Choji were sitting a ways off in the yard having snacks while the game continues.
"Why are you so damn good at this?" Jin asks his opponent.
"He's a Nara, it's what we do," Shikaku quickly answers with a small smile, his pride showing for all to see.
"You're not bad, but you have a habit of not utilizing all your pieces fully, you always focus one piece too much," Shikamaru tells his opponent as he moves one of his pieces.
"Hmm, I guess that's why I can never win huh, a bad habit from growing up alone and all that. Before meeting Naruto and eventually, all of you, the king was me and that's all that mattered," He says as he tilts his head forward to take a closer look at the board.
"Hmm, interesting approach. You speak as if things have changed. have they?" Shikaku asks the young man, trying to read his expression but finding it very stoic even with the blindfold on.
"Well, I've got some friends now. I'm going to become Hokage and protect everyone I can. I think my parents died when the Kyubi attack the village, when I'm Hokage I'll create a world where all the villages stand together. That's what changed." He says in a solemn voice to the people around him.
"BUT I'M GONNA BE THE HOKAGE, BELIEVE IT!" Naruto yells right next to him.
'Huh, I actually got to hear that in person, this reincarnation shit never gets old' Jin thinks to himself before speaking.
"Do you know why I love this world naruto?"
"Uh, no why?"
"Because anyone can rise, where you're born only determines how hard you have to work. Even you and I as orphans can rise to the top, but I'm not gonna step aside and let you be the Hokage. If I did that it would be disrespectful, that position should ONLY fall to who deserves it the most and can protect the village the best." He says in a serious tone, more serious than they have ever heard him before.
"Then I'll just have to be better than you!" Naruto yells with great energy, not deterred at all by his friend's words.
"I won," Shikamaru interrupts their conversation as he moves his piece to take Jin's king off the board.
"Damn it, all these years and I can never win, you Nara really are something else hehe," he says jokingly.
After all these years Jin has not once been able to win a game. Even as a child the term genius truly doesn't give Shikamaru enough respect.
"Don't feel too bad kid, you did better than most people would," Shikaku tells him to cheer him up.
"Ugh, she's here," Jin says completely out of the blue.
"What?" Naruto question.
"Let's have a rematch, maybe this will be the game," Jin says as he ignores naruto and starts putting his pieces back on the board.
"Always so persistent, can't you just relax like everyone else. Always such a drag" Shikamaru responds as he reluctantly places his pieces on the board as well.
By the time their next game is wrapping up, Choji and Naruto are sitting on the deck as well eating more snacks.
"She's finally here, TOOK YOU LONG ENOUGH SLUG!" Jin suddenly yells out.
Approaching around the corner Ino just walked into the room with an annoyed look on her face.
Needless to say, their relationship has not been good. between her already fangirling over Sasuke and talking down to Jin whenever he mentioned practicing to be a ninja. Jin is not a fan of the girl and likewise.
"Whatever wannabe!" she yells back at him.
"How did you know she was coming?!" Naruto asked with serious surprise.
"He's a sensor shinobi, right?" Shikaku interjects. "How far was she when you sensed her?"
"I felt an annoyance a few hundred meters away that I couldn't ignore, it was just the usual slug." He says in a snarky voice.
"That doesn't mea---" Ino says before she gets cut off by the Jonin commander.
"That's not common in Konoha, that finally explains how you operate like normal with a damn blindfold on huh," Shikaku says with a finger on his chin as he gave the Hokage's discovery more thought.
"I'm sick of losing for today, if anyone wants to find me just come by the river, I'm gonna go train."
"Huh still playing ninja, wannabe," Ino says with a smug grin on her face.
"WHEN we get into the academy, I'll make you wish you were nicer to everyone you brat," Jin says before walking away.
"Sensory nin isn't that special ya know!" Ino yells at his retreating form.
"Well, that's easy to say for you, a Yamanaka. For us it's pretty rare, hehe maybe the Nara clan can find a nice place for your friend huh Shikamaru," The man jokes with his son.
When Jin got to the riverbank he sat down against the trunk of a tree, to anyone passing by it would be easy to assume his eyes are closed, but they were far from that. He pushed his sensory abilities to the edge as he usually does first in order to make sure he is alone. After this, he begins his favorite exercise.
'Universal Pull' he mentally commands a nearby pebble flies into his outstretched palm.
As he catches the stone he places it between his fingers and aims at a tree across the small river.
'Almighty Push,' with a second command the pebble shoots out of his hand and slams the tree, but not where he intended.
"Still a few inches off, I'll get it right before today is done." Once more he pulls a pebble to his hand as he repeats the exercise until he hits his mark perfectly.
---2 Weeks later...
As Naruto and Jin were walking down the street, snow falling all around them, Jin saw Hinata standing frozen as they moved in her direction.
'This shit is really annoying, fuck it time to act like a brother,'
By this point, Naruto and Hinata have already met, only a blind man... or Naruto. Would not see her obvious crush on him.
"Hey Hinata, wanna get some ramen with us?" Jin calls out.
"We're going for ramen?!" Naruto questions at the sudden proposal.
"Yeah," 'Dude just play along' Jin thinks to himself.
"Uh, um. I-I wo---" The Hyuga princess begins tripping over her words only to be cut off.
"Great. I'm buying, lets head to Icharaku's"
As they made their way to the ramen shop Hinata barely spoke, all she did was try her best to impersonate a ripe tomato judging by her blush while Naruto was visibly excited for the extra ramen.
As they sat down, only Naruto and Hinata ordered. Jin wordlessly paid before turning to Naruto and speaking. "Make sure she gets home safe," he tells the blonde boy before he walks out of the shop.
'Damn moron, just kiss the girl already' Jin thinks as he walks through to frosted streets. Pulling his scarf tighter he makes his way to one of his favorite places, the village library.
As he walks he puts his hands in his pockets, to the people in the streets it would just be another child trying to warm his hands. Only he was in fact practicing one of his abilities that is quickly becoming one of his favorites. Constantly extending his fingers into metal tendrils and moving them around in his pocket allowing him to practice his Asura path abilities.
CHAPTER END---
Have some idea about my story? Comment it and let me know.
---This is just setting up his relationships and his abilities are there but he needs to practice them constantly.
---Yeah Ino is pretty annoying and if he hangs out with Shikamaru and Choji enough it only made sense he would meet her, and if he's acting as Naruto's friend then they will have conflict.
