Calistone

The horse's hooves clattered on the stone road, pulling us behind them.

It had been three hours since we had left the village. The trip so far had been completely uneventful, though the scenery was nice. The road to Calistone was surrounded by light areas of trees, rivers, rolling hills and living creatures.

Along the way, I had the chance to look further into the bloodline section in my system. As I did, I found that by unlocking the human disguise skill, I had used one skill point. In addition, I now had new things open to unlock. I only had one point, however. There were three things available to unlock in total, but the only one I could afford was 'friend of the night.' This would allow me to be harder to spot while sneaking in the night.

After looking through all of this information I had decided to use the single skill point on this skill. It seemed like something I could definitely take advantage of in the future.

As we continued along the path, I began to wonder what the meaning of twilight vampire was. My status screen said that it was my race. I didn't know if every vampire was like this or just some. Perhaps I was the only one. I couldn't know for sure.

....

We had arrived a little early. The sun was still high in the sky. I could guess it was just past midday. In the distance, I could see a town. I had expected the town to be small, but I was wrong. It was huge, with many buildings and a large stone wall which surrounded them.

"If this is just a town, then what does a city look like," I thought to myself.

Although the town wasn't big compared to towns back on earth, for a medieval one it was surprising.

"Master Rin, make sure you have a form of id for the gate," said the trader. He was currently going through his pockets trying to find something.

"My ID?" I asked in confusion. That didn't sound very good. If I needed a form ID, then maybe I wouldn't be able to get into town. This was something I hadn't considered.

"Well if you don't have one, there is a way around it. If you join the adventurers guild then you can get an adventurer ID and stay for longer than a day," said the trader. He had now found his ID and sat it by his side.

We still weren't at the gate and so I asked, "will they let me in to get one?"

"Oh of course. They will let anyone in with enough money. I hear you have quite a lot of that haha," the trader said with a smile.

It appears that the guards were corrupt. "this should be enough," I smiled and pulled out a single gold ring.

I still had many more. Actually, I planned on selling them all in town.

We arrived at the gate and immediately a guard in medieval armour came up to the carriage. "ID's please," he said.

As well as him, two other guards stood in front of the carriage.

The trader handed him his ID. The guard looked at it and wrote down the details into a book.

He then moved to the other side where I sat, "ID now please,"

I looked at him and put out my hand. I placed the gold ring in his hand.

He looked at it and then back up to me. With a smile, he yelled, "let them in!"

The other guards moved out of the way and the trader continued into town. He looked at me and said, "you know you could have given him five silver and he would have let you in."

"Oh..." I replied a little embarrassed. Well, I couldn't be blamed since I still didn't know the currency of this word very well, not to mention at the moment I only had the jewellery and some other supplies from the bandits.

Entering the town the were many people walking around. There were workers, children and what appeared to be adventurers at a bar. There was an armoury shop, Inns and artifact shops.

The buildings were made from wood and stone. They looked beautiful and worked well with their surroundings. everything was lively.

Right then I saw what I was looking for. To my left was a jewellery store. I tapped the trader on the shoulder, "Sir this is where I want to get off. Thank you for your help."

"It's quite alright. You should be thanking James however as I did it because I owed him a favour," the trader replied.

I jumped down from the carriage and headed towards the store. I was stopped in my tracks by the trader's voice.

"You should get an adventurers ID before buying or selling anything master Rin," he said.

This was getting annoying. Although it was understandable why they had these practices in place, I still wasn't happy.

"Does the adventures guild require money to join?" I asked painfully. I expected it would and that's why I wanted to get some money beforehand.

"About 20 coppers. Why do you ask?" he questioned.

"Could I get a loan by any chance?" I asked hopefully.

The trader pulled out a pouch. From that pouch, he took out a handful of coins and put his hand out to me. "I don't know why you need it but here, consider it part of my favour to James," he said.

He must have believed I was rich because of the jewellery.

I took the coins and thanked him with a handshake. "Thank you so much sir," I said.

He nodded his head and continued onwards, "I hope to see you again in the future master Rin."

As he left I looked around the town. Walking around the town was so full of life. Every part of it had people.

I walked through multiple streets looking for the guild.

I eventually came to the adventurers guild building. The building was mainly made from brick. It was a large two-story building with two large doors as the front entrance.

I approached the building and opened the front doors. Inside were multiple tables with adventurers sitting at them. There were a few message boards on the walls and at the back of the building was the front desk. At this desk sat five women who appeared to work here. All of them were beautiful women with blond hair and long ears. I assumed they were elves.

Seeing this I walked towards one of the girls who was free. This one was probably the most beautiful of the five.

When I did a few members stopped what they were doing and stared at me.

I assumed they were looking at the mask. I ignored them and kept on.

Once at the front desk, the name along with health and mp of the front desk worker came up. Her name was 'Eva'. Her level was blacked out, however. It was the same for every other person I had met thus far.

I got the attention of the female worker, "Excuse me, I would like to register as an adventurer."

The adventurers who were previously starting daggers began to laugh. "I actually felt intimidated for a moment haha," yelled out one of the men.

Once again ignoring them I stared at the worker awaiting her reply.

"Oh, right away sir. Just fill out this paperwork and then we will proceed with the test," the lady worker said, handing me a piece of paper.

I took it and a pen from the desk. Quickly I began filling it out.

[Autofill: yes or no?]

Name: Rin Akira

Age: 17

Gender: male

Adventurer class: attack magic caster

....

Seeing this I selected yes and the whole sheet got filled out.

I handed back the sheet which made her look a little surprised. "Was it magic?" she asked.

I nodded my head. Well, it was similar to magic. It seems nobody else has a system like me, or at least it's uncommon.

"Go sit down and I'll call for you soon," she said before heading into a back room.

I turned around and found a spare spot. Then a notification popped up.

[new mission: earn your respect]

As I walked over to a table to sit, a man with full plate armour, a tall figure and muscular body bumped into me.

The adventurer fell backwards and landed on his butt. When he did, there was a loud thump and crash.

This gained the attention of everyone in the room. I had noticed his intentions of knocking me down after hearing the notification.

"Oi oi, what was that you little shit," he screamed, scrambling to his feet. He placed his hand onto the hilt of his sword to intimidate me. "I think you should apologise to me before something bad happens," he yelled in an irritating tone.

"You walked into me, it's not my fault you're weak and fell over," I stated as though to taunt him.

I know I couldn't kill the man, but I would certainly put him in his place. Just from when he bumped into me, I could tell he was a lower level than me.

You little shit head," he screamed in rage, pulling his blade from its scabbard. He raised the sword and began to slash it at me.

I dodged to the right easily and then brought a left hook into his lower jaw. The punch sent the man to the ground with a shattered jaw.

I looked down at him. He was holding his face and screaming in pain. I saw that he had a badge on his collar made from copper. No wonder he was so weak.

[mission passed: awarded +2 levels (20 stat points)]

"It's worth it even without the points," I thought to myself as I continued towards the spare seat. As I did, some other adventurers, all bearing the copper badge went up to the man to help him.

I sat down at the table where nobody else was. At this point, everyone had stopped staring at me. He was only a copper rank and I was sure it was a low rank. Therefore the adventurers didn't see it as anything amazing.

As I waited I looked around the room. It's just like an anime, or MMO game. In this room were three levels of adventurers. There was copper, iron and silver rank. "Perhaps there are others too," I thought.

It wasn't too long before that

"Excuse me, Mr Rin," said the voice of the female worker. She must have been ready for me now.

I stood back up and walked back over to the front desk where she awaited me. Once there she took out a see-through orb. I looked at it in confusion.

"Mr Rin, please place your hand on the orb. When you do so it will show your affinity for magic types," the woman explained.

Listening to her I took off my glove and rings, exposing a pale white hand. I placed my hand on the orb, but nothing happened.

As though to clear up my confusion, the worker continued, "exert some magic mana into the orb and it'll do the rest."
