Aiming for one on the left, Xilo threw a few daggers of ice at the others to distract them. Slashing at the man, he tried to defend against Xilo's attacks. It wasn't enough though as Xilo destroyed the blade he was holding and attacked him across his chest. The man instantly fell to the ground as he groaned in pain while Xilo attacked the next person in line. Another man had rushed him after dealing with his daggers, slamming his sword down, he tried to take advantage of the opening Xilo had given. Watching the bigger man come toward him full force like a wall Xilo defended himself.
"Heavy."
Even with the ice shield he quickly created, he still managed to do some damage to him while cracking the ice. Out of the corner of his eye Xilo saw the leader panicking as he went to pull something out of his pocket. "He's trying to call for help." Seeing the small crystal that appeared Xilo forgot about the man practically on top of him as another dagger flew out and pierced the leader's arm. With a yelp of pain the man dropped the crystal giving Xilo time to deal with the wall holding him back. Feeling his Ice Shield crack into pieces Xilo swapped his dagger around in his hands as he attacked.
Pulling upwards Xilo ripped his chest apart until he reached his shoulder. Stepping aside he let the body fall to the ground as locked on to his final target. "Not happening." Taking a step forward Xilo stepped on to the crystal that the man tried to pick up. Seeing the Crystal shatter in front of his face the man felt his will break. "We picked a bad fight this time." Peering up at the man before him, he tried to get one good look at the man who took him down. "That smile..." Feeling the hair on his back stand up he struggled to speak before it all faded to black.
"Demon..."
Smashing the man's face into the ground, Xilo made sure he was knocked out as he checked the rest of their bodies. "Barely breathing." Once he confirmed they were all barely alive he walked back to Relia and put the man back on his shoulder. Offering his hand to Relia, he felt her hand clasp onto his as they walked out of the alleyway avoiding the bodies. Feeling himself cool off, Xilo felt the man on his shoulder stir a little bit. "Looks like he hasn't died yet." Hopefully they could get him back to the Soaring Blades on time.
"....Those people."
Hearing a rough coarse voice barely speak right next to his ear, Xilo set his worries at ease.
"Don't worry, I took care of them. For now just relax and you'll be safe soon. If you care to talk about them more then I'll listen to it."
The man didn't say anything else for the rest of the journey. Arriving back at the Soaring Blades for the last time today, Xilo saw Relda outside waiting for them. He had talked to her every time he returned with a person so he had gotten to know her a little bit more. "She's a good person." She was a little rough but she had good intentions and Xilo respected that. Handing over the man he was carrying, Xilo and Relia were done for the day. Stretching his muscles he hesitated for a second before bringing it up.
"We found this guy sick in an alley, however it seems he was being chased after. They attacked us when we tried to leave, I did deal with them since I couldn't leave a sick person like that but I don't really know what he did. Figured I'd give you a bit of a heads up."
"Oh, that's.....Well, did you find any way to identify the attackers or the man?"
"No, they had nothing on them and the man was in an entirely new set of clothing. We managed to escape from them and I instantly came here. Figured it was probably the safest, sorry about that
"Why didn't you kill them or fight back, you know they're just going to come after you now right?"
"They were stronger than me and…..."
She was a little surprised that Xilo didn't kill those people or fight, most people just didn't care and tried anyway. "Smart for his age, if not a little weak." He may have looked like a fighter but that didn't mean he was that strong yet.. "I'm sure that's it." Convincing herself of that she checked the man over to see if she could find anything herself. While she was doing that, Xilo explained his reasoning. Once he was done she felt a little dumbfounded. Looking up at Xilo, she felt her body twitch.
"We won't be staying here for too long, if they want to chase us to other towns just because we stopped an attack then be my guest. There's quite a few already doing similar, what's one more."
Shrugging his shoulders, Xilo didn't think much further than that.
"Haaaaa..you're an idiot. Tell me where you found them and I'll send people to search for them. I know you don't really seem to care but you're helping us out so I want to help you out."
Hearing her worry about him Xilo gave up hiding it as she told her where they were last.
"Alright, if that's all Relda we'll be heading back to the Inn. I was hoping to visit tomorrow though and talk to the man you're holding if that's okay."
"Yeah, if he's in the right condition by then sure. It's getting dark out so get going. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Yup, bye."
Turning around Xilo made his way back to the Inn with Relia beside him.
"...Why..lie?"
"Who knows."
Petting Relia's head he distracted her while they walked back while a few pairs of eyes followed them closely
