Battle

The drake jumped on me and bit my wings but before ripping them off a fireball was launched at him, the fireball missed me by mere centimeters when it hit his face. He screamed in agony but didn't let go, he took his head with me in his mouth, Tay who was closer to me tried to grab the drake but he dodged and ran into the woods while I was trying to get out of his bit the adrenaline make me forget the pain.

Tay:"Don't struggle Synn! Your wings will rip if you do!".

The drake's scales changed colors to match the forest as he run deeper into it. The adrenaline went off and pain started to flood me, blood soaking my body as my mind slowly went numb due to the pain and blood loss. I saw Tay trying to follow us but his huge body didn't let him, i tried to move but my body didn't have the strength, Tay screamed at me but i couldn't hear anything more, my senses fading away as the last thing i saw was Glyn trying to follow me only to be stopped by Tay, everything went black.

Glyn:"SYNN! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HE'S TAKING SYNN!".

Tay:"Calm down, if you go alone another drake will get you too.".

Glyn:"SO WHAT?! HE'S GONNA EAT SYNN IF WE DON'T DO SOMETHING!".

Tay:"As i said, calm down, he's not gonna eat Synn right away, drakes tend to store the food they get in the day and eat at night.".

Glyn:"Then what do we going to do? If we don't hurry night will come and he's gonna eat Synn.".

Tay:"We've got a few hours before nightfall, he will store Synn and go hunting again, we must find him and follow him to his nest.".

Sena:"Exactly, don't worry Glyn we will save him.".

Bren:"But that is strange, what a young drake is doing here? He should be at one of the hatching island.".

Menf:"And how did he leaved unscratched from Sena's fireball? Even if she was holding back Is the drakes mutating?".

Lyra:"Again? They mutated the last decade, it should

take another century for them to do it again.".

Menf:"Unless they receive a huge amount of mana.".

Lon:"You mean someone did this on purpose?".

Tay:"Maybe not on purpose.".

Lon:"What do you mean?".

Menf:"There's two possibilities, one is some other city did this to the drakes go out of control.".

Bren:"We've been in peace for the last four hundred years, why would they do this?".

Menf:"I don't know, but i think this is more likely than the second option.".

Lon:"And that is?".

Menf:"Synn's birth maybe have something to do with it.".

Lyra:"What?! That's not possible, a dragon hatchling doen't have ma...na.". Realization hit like a truck.

Menf:"Synn has mana since his birth, but even if he does have mana it is not suficient for causing the drakes a mutation, that's why i think this option is an absurd.".

Sena:"I don't know about this but lets start the search before its too late, if we don't find the damn drake before night Synn is as good as dead.".

Menf:"that's right, lets split in every direction, search in every tree and rock you find, he changed his body to match the environment, if you find it make a signal to the sky with your mana.".

In a city far away to the south, some dragons were reporting their mission, they were adult dragons from the southern city the enemy from northern city for eons, they were reporting to a elder dragon in change of military matters.

"So how was it?" The elder asked in a demanding tone.

"The mission went without a problem, but something was weird, the drakes from one island in particular were mutated beyond expectated." A dragon who looked like to be the leader spoke.

"And will that interfere with the results?".

"I don't think it will.".

"Then whatever, something more to report?".

"Yes, there is a rumor in the city that a newborn is already at their academy.".

"A newborn? In the academy? Ha! The northern city has decayed over the years.".

"Looks like he already have horns since his birth.".

"Oh, that's interesting, go and get more information, especially from that newborn.".

"Understood" Everyone said at the same time and they vanished like they were never there.

"That's really interesting." A smirk came to his face as he said to himself.

"Maybe i can get him in the war.".

I woke up again, i had dreamed again but i couldn't remember it, but i felt sad for some reason, I shook my head to get rid of the feeling, my wings stoped bleeding but were still bad so i better not move them.

I look around scanning my surroundings, i was in a dark cave full of bodies and bones, the putrid smell was enough to make my eyes burn not to mention my nose, i run out of the cave to breath pure air, when i got out the sky suddenly darkened and a deafening explosion made me fall back to the entrance, i covered my ears but still my right ear bled from the sound, the light faded and two giant figures were flying, one was Menf and the other was a Drake the same size as him, Menf saw me and screamed.

Menf:"DON'T COME OUT SYNN!".
