Leap of Faith

Akin was moving rapidly under the air. Beside him, Galeg was mixing in the fog, which was dense, and now it was thinner. In front of him, Veiggo was still enjoying the fact that he was flying. Beside them, Blavius, Avey, Pamil and Vantner moved with him.

"Woohoo!" Veiggo shouted on the communication channel with great entusiasm. He started to move properly, still mocking. Everyone laughed, having fun with him.

With a leap out of the dark, foggy swamp, a large black-colored creature advanced on Veiggo. He didn't even have time to react, being partly eaten from the torso down. His corpse crashed into a small filament of mountain-like rocks, falling into the water channel. Everyone was in shock. Veiggo's blood splashed on Akin's yellowed visor, leaving his vision almost completely empty. A large dark red stain dripped from his helmet. His friend's blood.

They were still flying over the sky, when the creature appeared again. This time accompanied by yet another creature like the one that killed Veiggo moments ago. Blavius ​​desperately dodged the giant monster. The girls also dodged the creature, having a huge mouth and serrated teeth, with a larva body. Akin had managed to dodge the second monster, preparing to land, when a third creature emerged from the mist.

The monster ignored him, going to Galeg. And then, the boy advanced towards Galeg, pushing him to a rocky mountain in front of the two. Akin collided with the creature, being thrown directly into the rocky ground, along with Galeg. Both were at an absurd speed, spinning and hitting the rocks all the time. Galeg finally managed to stop, after putting his arm in the rock, slowing down as the armor slowly loosened with the impact. Akin tried the same, but failed. He continued to spin on the mountainous floor, approaching a precipice there.

The armor collided strongly with the tempered glass, splitting it to the left, making a huge hole. Akin continued to roll, Veiggo's blood entering the armor, hitting his face. He spun around again, placing his hand on the rocky floor, slowly destroying the armor, his fingers almost breaking in half, and then stopping at the edge of the cliff, with one of his arms dangling.

Akin remained motionless, still in the same place, with his arm still hanging. He stayed there for a few more seconds, before finally moving, rising slowly. His armor was completely cracked, destroyed at the corners. The wings were torn and worn. His helmet now had a hole in the place where yellowed glass had once been.

Akin had no longer seen the girls, they could be dead or at the bottom of the swamp. Blavius ​​on the other hand ended up being also caught by the third creature, being thrown to the top of a small mountain next door. His emergency parachute had been destroyed on impact, trapping him in a filament of brown and gray rocks. He was screaming for help. The communication channel was through low water, the only equipment that kept them at an advantage on that not-so-deserted planet, had been destroyed.

Akin addressed Galeg, who was still sitting on the floor, still processing what had happened.

"He is dead." Galeg said in a shaky voice, his face looking at the rocky floor. Akin tried to face him, wanting to comfort him. "We had nothing to do at the moment. It was all so... fast." Akin said sadly.

Akin held out his hand to Galeg, the Athorian then accepted, being pulled by the human boy to get up. They heard Blavius's cry for help, the mountain next to it was not far away, being present in the same piece of soil.

They walked slowly to the place, being injured. The armor absorbed most of the impact. The red-colored boy was still stuck at the top of the mountain. Akin and Galeg had just arrived at the place, seeing the difference in distance between the three, and injured as they were, it was impossible to climb that mountain.

"The armor absorbed most of the impact." Akin thought to himself. "Blav! You need to jump. Use the energy knife to cut the parachute nets." He yelled. "You must be crazy! If I do that, I'm f*cking going to die." Blavius shouted desperately. Galeg analyzed the situation, understanding what Akin meant. "Blav! You really need to jump. The armor was made to withstand as much damage as possible. Look at me and Akin here. We are alive." Galeg said trying to convince him. "And Veiggo is dead. What a great armor, huh?" Blavius replied grumbling to himself.

A deafening noise echoed between the mountains. "What the hell was that?" Galeg asked. They then shook, freezing for a brief moment. A black shadow hung more than a hundred feet from the ground. It was the creature emerging again, facing them.

Blavius looked at his companions in shock, having realized what was happening. "IF YOU WANT TO LIVE, JUMP! NOW!" Akin screamed, echoing through the swamp. Blavius ​​thought no more. Pulling out his energy knife, he cut the nets that held him, falling towards the rocky floor. He screamed, falling to the floor, feeling mild pain, but nothing serious.

The creature then started to move towards the mountain. The three boys started running as fast as they could. They stopped at the edge of the cliff, looking out at the dark, hazy swamp below them. The creature right behind, destroying rock on rock.

"Do you guys trust me?" Akin asked with desperate eyes. "No!" The other two boys said at the same time. "Okay, we will need to jump one more time!" He yelled. "That small mountain was something, but this? This is madness, Akin!" Blavius answered desperately. "It's this, or IT!" He said.

They all looked behind, the monster coming close to them faster than before.

They faced the cliff one more time.

"JUMP!" Akin shouted.

Everyone jumped.

They bet on a leap of faith.
