In Spite Of Herself

As Maddie finished talking to Ava on the phone, Trevor walked in holding two empty wine glasses and a bottle of wine.

Maddie was at his place as he had invited her over for dinner.

"Was that Ava?" Trevor asked as he came and sat down beside her on the couch.

"Yeah, she didn't know that Mason had paid off her debts." Maddie took the glass he offered her and held it out as he poured some wine for her.

"He did that the day they went to Grapeville," Trevor said. Mason had told him about it.

"Hmm," Maddie took a sip of her wine. "This is good," she said referring to the wine.

Trevor sipped from his glass. "Yes, it is." They were both silent as they sipped their wine.

"You know, Mason didn't say it was a mistake," Jason said, referring to Mason and Ava's marriage. Maddie had already told him the truth about how they ended up married, and how they also plan on getting a divorce.
